The sun is sparkling wild and gentle on the stream. Happiness trickling down thru a sunbeam. Clouds of wonder fill the sky. How could someone like I fly so high. So, I stop and sit and close my eyes. Just to find I am the sky to my surprise. That's how I can fly so high. That's how I can touch the sky. One is all and all is One. Sunbeams that have left the sun. One day to return. After the illusion has burned. Happiness runs in a circular motion. I won't forget my devotion. We can keep each other afloat in the sea. I won't forget you, you won't forget me. If I forget, I'm locked out of eternity with no key. These are MY lyrics.
Love how Molo can push the pocket so solidly and syncopate so nimbly with the other players on the fly- a true master. There's a unique chemistry with these 4 of the 5 original PLQ members (miss you Jimmy!). Sco takes a while to get a lead ramped up but when his fingers fly it's a nugget worth waiting for. It's nice to hear these tunes played at a decent pace and not the "applebee's earlybird special" pace that has become Bobby's preference. Amazing that at 82 years old Phil can still play a 2-hour set (standing up the entire time and without a pee break) ending at 2:20am... Grate Bass, Lesh Philling!
Hahahaha! “Applebees Earlybird Special” for the win! 🤣 (I agree, this is how it should be:) If you dig Scofield checkout his recent set with “Scary Goldings”. It’s awesome music!
Mike Barns it was great to see you and Warren playing together and Sneakin Sally? How firkin funky cooooool !!!!! Loved it, the whole show. Thanks Warren!!
Great to see Phil and Warren (and John S., Molo and Barraco) again. Every act was thrilling and psychedelic (I missed Dinosaur Jr., much to my dismay) ! I've seen Brothers Osborne a few times and their performance for Christmas Jam was head and shoulders above any of those previous. John's participation with the other band members was stellar. The Blue Dragon flies again after many, many long years; talk about high school flashback! It's good to be alive! Thanks everyone for a real good time... (~);-)

Love that discussion right before going into it, "should we go right into it, well midnight oil, wait whats the first chord,.a d chord wait, what song midnight oil, ok ok let's go" a 1,2,......26:00 lol !!!!! Awesome
He was hanging at French Broad Brewery on Thursday for the whole Jerry's Dead set as well which I thought was cool...didn't realize he'd be such a big part of the whole jam
My first real exposure to the Grateful Dead's music, other than random radio or MTV, was The Dead at the Gorge in 2009 with Phil and Warren. Eyes of the World hooked me. Good to see both of them still getting together.
It was a fabulous set, all two hours' worth, ending around 2:20am. I love the guitar combo of Warren Haynes and John Scofield. I'd forgotten Scofield had played so much with Phil & Friends, and it makes such sense that Phil loves him so much: Phil's first real music love was jazz... I love the look on Phil's face ~1:40:25 in particular: deep bliss!
2nd tune, "Loosing End" Neil Young. I dig this Cat!!!! Thank You Warren and the awesome City of Asheville!!!!!! The Spiritual Service at Midnight was Amazing!!!!!! LONG LIVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phil still play uptempo even though he's 80....he understands that people want to dance. Unfortunately, the Dead and Company as well as Wolf Brothers don't seem to get that,
So I have seen warren 65 times with a shit load of bands and Phil and Rob 20 or better. This is fukin seriously awesome 😎. This whole band is completely off the chain and you can tell how much boogie is goin down
the Dark Star orchestra is fantastic and really close to the original Grateful Dead. when dead and company stop touring, they will be the best dead cover band!!!!
I hear ya / yes the music was sloppy at times / but as Tyler said at the opening set the whole show was a head trip from Dinosaur JR to Phil and the Dead's Music presented such an amazing vibe that took me to so many places/ Just hearing those songs and my Heros was truly the best/ who cares about flubs i fuck up all the time
I was honestly a little disappointed with Phil’s set while I was there and wound up leaving towards the ends of “eyes of the world,” but after listening a 2nd (and third time), this show is actually fairly solid, if you can look past the vocal flubs.
phil cannot really sing anymore but can play his bass. but warren certain can sing. we saw them a levitate last summer and there were not big guns and they were only fair. his son graham was fantastic.
Thx Steve....flashbacks from Saturday for me....Phil is the "Real Dead" that lives thru him and feeds us some true Dead Vibes.....this isn't for the D&Co crowd
@@GWms-su1mh No you don't....I love that they have brought a new generation to the music because it it's alive but it's not for me.... I need the soul of the music which it doesn't exist in the newest ensemble
@@heatherroy3379 guess you weren't here when it began and enjoyed The Other Ones, The Dead and Further....but the community is glad you're a part of it now
I was wondering if Schofield had a contract not allowing him to be filmed. He played some solos, but I seldom saw his face. During his solos the camera was either on his back or on Lesh.
I've never fully enjoyed Scofield playing Dead music. He has jazz chops, but when he needs to chug along with chords under Warren, he's just not there. Mason's Children falls apart because of this. Now it turned out cool, but... I don't know... Just do the song and then the jam, imo. Then again, I'm not a fan of song shuffles either. Like Viola all split up. Ymmv 🤘🏽(~);-}
Love this band, but I think I am the only person on the planet who cringes every time Scofield plugs his jazz notes into songs like Brown Eyed Women. It sounds absolutely terrible to my old ears.
22 Years ago I saw WH with Phill and Friends in Burlington VT. Glad the train is still rollin'!
This is the best opening song to a show I’ve ever heard. That is beautiful and real. I dig it. Tyler Ramsey ✊🏽😌
Is his dad Neil Young?🤔
That's Ashevile resident Tyler Ramsey, former lead guitarist for Band of Horses, with the opening set!
He was good. What a magical night!
Thank you! His music is awesome. I’m a fan.
Reminds me of The Band in his composition
Great to see Rob Barraco back in the big time with Phil and Friends!
Rob’s vocals make all the difference! And his keys are outstanding!
He's the best

I loved molo when he was with hornsby all those years ago and feel his swing was the best out of all the drummers bruce has had through the years
🤣"earlybird special"
Sco should be front and center a lot more. Without a doubt the best musician up there. Could be the best anywhere maybe.

Desawa Brothers in Madison dancing the whole night uptempo all day baby
It seems to be a Weir influence - the Dead on valium. Give me some Phil, Billy & the Kids, or JRAD any day ;-)
