This series is bittersweet since the creator of the manga died before she could finish the manga. Heard that her husband teamed up with the anime production to give it a proper ending based on how she wanted to end the series.

The fact that the author died before finishing the manga makes me sad. Imagine if she saw the wonderful anime adaptation and the wonderful live actions of it, her story has become so well known
Same, but glad that she was still able to witness 1 live adaptation back in 1996.
yh and I always reread the manga or rewatch the anime cuz I always end up understanding the characters more. For example the manga explains why Irie acts the way he does (it's his mothers fault for making him think that he was a girl) growing up I understood that we gave Kotoko the teenager pass for her behavior but not Irie who also was a teenager, just a smarter one. The manga also shows him more caring than the anime tbf cuz the manga shows his honest interest in her, while the anime was rushing the story so we missed out on even some extra characters in the Anime that used to be in the Manga. Overall they both are good for each other even if the relationship started rocky I like how Irie told other women in the manga "don't compare yourself to MY Kotoko" or when he brought up that he kissed Kotoko before to make other women know that he is only interested in Kotoko.
Irie had a good development, from an arrogant, prideful teenager with childhood grudges to a loving and caring husband and father. Kotoko in the other hand... good thing the author has shown that Kotoko isn't stupid just too distracted and impulsive (maybe she has ADHS) I like how she saved this man who was in a car accident, I just wished she took Iries advices about not making every decision based on him, altho during the episodes of her pregnancy she turned out more mature.
I am glad the authors boyfriend was told about how the story was supposed to end. At least the story got its intended ending.
After searching and searching for its ending...... finally found it and its worth it they have both grown in character especially naoki irie from his cold and unsmiling personality to a loving warm husband to his wife and daughter . I never even imagine that naoki will someday be like this and its kinda just feels magical especially when you go back to those days when they are in highschool
I liie the last epsiode where they go to visit his grandparents and she meets a ghost.
Boys grow up…when they get married to the right girl, a different side begins to open up ❤
you could have just watched the last two episodes. I suggest you read the manga as well and remember that Naoki is also a "teenager", also that one chapter with his childhood explains why he is mean itfp.
I have a love-hate relationship with this anime cuz they are just the cutest and romantic couple in anime world and at the same time this slaps my reality so hard🤣🤣🤣

@@M1DL1F3GAM3R actually the first japanese drama adaption of this manga was way before the anime release , and it was not as successful , the anime was popular but among anime fans , and once the kdrama released and became hit it made it way to mainstream and that allowed for anew japanese drama adaption and then many more followed .. so the story/manga didn't became hit in a day .

I haven't found another instance in my life where there was an untimely death like that of Ms. Kaoro Tada's, rest her soul, the mangaka of itakiss. Such a timeless rom-com masterpiece she made. I particularly love her art style, it matches the humor of the story like pieces of a puzzle.

I wish the live action had gone more into Kotoko's pregnancy, the last episode ends with Kotoko finding out she's pregnant and then it jumps to after she's already had the baby and that's where it ends DX
I feel like that scene itself would have been the best scene we could have gotten in all adaptations honestly. I hope one day a remake will give us that closure 😭
I know the drama ended with a flash forward but it would have been fun if they did the last episode with her pregnancy shenanigans, having the kid grow up and seeing her parents working together in the hospital and Yuki managing the family business

@sun cream maybe not skipped but to tie all the loose ends of the drama. The anime had a lot more going in with Kotoko's pregnancy and showed them bonding with their kid. All the versions of itakiss had additional and cut scenes to be adapted in their own way and not an exact 1 to 1 copy of the manga. But the drama ended on a hight note so it was good.

@@gianinnakarla Ummm, I’d have to break it to you but giving birth is really not a party. The time to give birth is very long and can even reach 20 hours for the baby to come out. And during that time, the mother would not only be trying to push the baby out, poop and pee will also come out so no, usually mothers would only want their husband or their own mother to be there. It’s a highly stressful situation.
Edit: Oh, seems like OP was referring to after birth;
But then again, after the birth, it’s really painful for the mother as well so it’s really much easier and best for her to just be with her husband or mother only. I mean, her body’s pretty much getting ripped apart to take out a huge lump out of her, that’s how painful it is.

Yeah i agree with you. Kotoko sacrificed a lot for Naoki. But in this scene, i didnt hate naoki because he's a doctor and it was an emergency. I know kotoko surely understands naoki's duty because she, herself is a nurse
There was literally no other option. All doctors were gone or already busy and she was in critical condition- it was already a gamble having him as an intern go in to attempt to surgery to save her but he did because his wife told him to. As a nurse, she knew very well how dire situation was and wasn't alone at all. It wasn't planned but both medical cases came clean and safe- literally best case scenario.
For God's sake he's a doctor! Saving patient's life is important. That's his duty. What nonsense are you commenting😡

I remember when I first started this anime years ago and never got around to finishing it, when did they get so grown up….they were in high school 🥺 and I was an elementary schooler. Dammit I feel old now, I’m graduating high school and here they appear before my eyes, married and having their first child. The love-hate relationship they used to have with each other was amusing+frustrating in my memory. The disparity in how mature both of them look now tho, she still looks like a high schooler 😅

You probably dont trust me but in the past when i see this anime and sleep the next morning i became a fluent japanese speaker without studying so really thk for this anime
It's not so much the pain it's the exhaustion that got me. I was awake for over 24 hours because I couldn't sleep the night before when I had to push and I was just too tired to keep going... but I did it and my son was born at home in our bedroom. It literally feels like the urge to push when you have to crap, but more intense.😆 I dont think I've ever worked my entire body that much in my life. I was sore for at least a week EVERYWHERE. It's funny how we went to the hospital early morning but they sent us home because they didn't think the contractions were that serious, but when we got home he literally arrived in like an hour.
