About a year ago I upgraded my DW mkii’s with the Jupiter caps. This video would have been very helpful at the time. After living with them for nearly a year I can say with no hesitation that they’re like a different speaker. The upgrade took them from a fun, great sounding speaker to an amazing speaker that I’ll have for many years to come. It’s like I bought new speakers for the price of a cap upgrade.
Speaking of crossover components, Ive lately been wondering what Seans thoughts are towards the recent GR Research assessment & upgrade of the DW's. I believe the woofer was crossed over and the tweeter completely replaced to achieve optimal frequency response.
Is this a standard DW6? One thing I didn't see in the video is the removal of the "old" capacitors. Or are the old capacitors that tiny black shrink wrapped thing on the leads you removed? If so, it's amazing how much physically smaller they than the Jupiter cap. It's also interesting that you paste the Jupiter cap on back of the tweeter - I wonder how much that affects the sound, and is responsible for the improvement versus the cap itself.
Yes, those are the original caps. Absent any instructions, my first attempt left the original caps connected. When the sound was worse after reconnecting, I realized my mistake. All good now. Highly recommend the Jupiter upgrade.
I'm perfectly satisfied with my standard DW6 speakers, but if I ever decide they need upgraded I will just buy new ones with the Superfly or Supreme upgrades, or just go for a higher model. I'd like to see Zu make a small bookshelf speaker with a five or six inch woofer, as I'm sure they could make an awesome one.

Why no gasket seal on the tweeter or the woofer?

Funny, I was wondering where the old caps were too. I’m thinking to myself that he’s not replacing anything lol

Without a proper crossover the freq response must be as smooth as a rubble heap.
No point applying any damping to the tweeter cap.its in the same space,unprotected from the woofer. Meg vibrations,lotts of smearing.😮
