I had incredible pain in my left leg and it could not bare weight. The doctors and surgeons did not know what to do and so they gave me this huge, full length leg brace with these big hinges. I was like robocop! I was eventually diagnosed with CRPS. For a while I was too afraid to put anything on my leg but recently I've been using compression socks for my leg up to my knee, somehow it feels better to have my leg compressed than not. If my leg is too free moving I find I get more pain. Either way, I'd prefer a lightweight brace than one that destroys my trousers.

I purchased one from them on Amazon on a whim. Hadn’t seen this video yet. Have a lot of locking and snapping in knee. Urgent care said osteo arthritis hasn’t gone away three weeks later. Saw a orthopedic surgeon thinks meniscal tear had mri today. Love the brace. Makes my knee feel stable. Have an issue with the upper strap sliding down and have to find a way to secure it. Very comfortable. Good brace.

It's definitely important to use a flexible, fabric tape measure though like Bob demonstrated! If you need any help choosing a size just give us a call at 866-712-7808

I’m a 13 year old soccer player, and i’ll have to wear a knee brace every day. When i’m at soccer practice, at school and even when i’m with my friends in town. I have one of those normal braces, who stabilizes my knee cap and it is 10 centimeters below and above my knee cap. I’m at the hospital 2 times a week to PT. 3 weeks ago i dislocated my knee cap, and i couldn’t bend my leg for 5 loong days. There’s nothing that can help with my pain and i need another program for PT.
I ended up in the emergency room yesterday, because i messed up my ankle at practice on thursday without knowing😂. So i’m not allowed to play soccer in a week. This is the 3rd time this year my doctor has banned me to play. The first time (february 26) was 6 loong weeks without practice, the next time (april 29) was only 1 week, and now the 3rd time (may 23) is 1 week.

My (very good) orthopedic doctor warns his patients that braces often give you a false sense of security. You might start doing things you haven't done in a long time and end up injuring the joint even worse. The brace is only going to (hopefully) preserve what strength your joint has left. Just thought I'd touch on this for common advice.

I suffer from patellofemoral pain due to lateral tracking of the patella. I also got some chondromalacia. I've strengthened the quads and VMO and hip external rotators which has helped, but pain and swelling are still lingering with activity or when seated for sustained periods. Wondering if a brace would help for this? Any recommendations ? Thanks so much.

A coworker recommended Back on Track knee braces, but I read a summary of what they do, and I don't think it will work for me. I have prepateller (sp?) bursitis. It flares up every few years or so (particularly after a long period of sedentary lifestyle and not enough going to the gym to stay strong). For bursitis, I've always been told RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation. The back on track braces (and some of the other braces on the market) are too warm. Back on Track in particular is designed to trap your body heat and radiate it back through the joint, which probably helps arthritis patients, but could only worsen knee bursitis -- which only improves when you put ice packs on it. I have a basic knee wrap that has a gel pack I can put in my freezer, but is there anything else available, that doesn't have a bulky ice pack, that would work well for day to day activities? I'm back at work and it's not convenient to carry and ice pack around with me all day.

I've been using an ACE hinged brace for a few years and it has made a remarkable difference. I have a physical job and I'm able to keep my normal movements. Exercise seems fine albeit a little restricted-feeling due to the hinges.
I'm tempted to try a compression brace or a wrap around brace that doesn't have hinges to see if the pain comfort and pain control is just as good.

I purchased one of those Obesity braces, and it was a perfect fit, but for the life of me I could not keep it in place. I am 79, and am trying to walk more. I can only manage 1/2 mile walk. By the time I walked a mere 1/2 mile, the brace had slipped down to cover the knee cap. I pulled the straps as tightly as I could get them, and tried it on several occasions. It was impossible to keep it in place. Any suggestions? I can't return it, because if you wear it at all, they won't allow a return or refund..

I still use it, one occasion, but only when my knee is hurting so bad I am afraid it might give out under me if I don't use something. Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one to have this issue. 👍

Hi PTV, I've dislocated my left kneecap about a month ago and had my cast removed 3 weeks ago. The doctor prescribed me with a knee brace but the metal hinges on the side presses on the inner part of my knees and I get sharp pain in the morning when I woke up and I can't make big movements anymore and I thought it may have deteriorated my injury. What should I do?

Can you deadlift in this brace? Does it eliminate the knee pain which I experience only when I deadlift - and only in my right knee.

I'm having trouble finding the episode where you referenced a particular heating pad that produced deeper heat penetration than the average heating pad. I'm hoping you can share the product name and advise if it is available on Amazon. Thanks so much.

Would this work for RA? I’m 5’5” 166 lb and 28 years old with RA. I don’t get much joint pain anymore but I feel like I have some residual knee damage from when symptoms first displayed before I was diagnosed. I work in retail now and notice that as I move around I inadvertently pivot on my right knee a lot which is the one I feel has some damage. So I’m trying to avoid causing further wear. Would a brace like this be good for someone my circumstances or would it be overkill?

Knee braces can be frustrating. First off, in order to keep them from falling down, you really have to pull them extremely tight & that causes a lot of discomfort. Yes, they help, but it’s not easy wearing one for an entire day.

Knee is killing me, it pops out and I make it go back straight. See the ortho with xrays and ask she days is "yup, you have baker's cysts, and your knee caps are too high, see ya"
I didn't find this helpful. Any ideas since I'm on my own?

Hi Bob and Brad, I just recently got me knee checked out by my orthopedic because I have been having trouble with it for a few months which I for sure thought it was patellar tendonitis because of the location but after getting it check it turned out to be fat pad impingement. All he said was to avoid activities that cause pain which other than walking is everything right now. Is there anything else in your opinion I can do with this other than simply 'rest'?

If you are like me, it’s impossible for me to sit for any amount of time. My left knee hurts and is swollen but I carry on with life. I have a treadmill and I walk on that. Even then, the knee hurts. I’m 80y/o and, for me, replacement is not an option. God bless.

Half-way thru it gets to showing how to wear knee brace. What the demonstration fails to address is how tight to adjust the brace. Please speak to that.

hopefully this is not a duplicate. I have a partial pcl tear for which I will be seeing a sports medicine doctor in about a week or so. meanwhile I've been having a lot of pain. resting, icing and pain meds help but I was wondering if a brace might help too. if so what would you recommend. one that immobilizes or one that just stabilizes?

  • @JustineTeeVee

I got a knee brace from my doctor because my kneecap dislocated and now I'm undergoing physical therapy because now I'm having trouble fully straightening my knee to walk and bending it to sit or to go upstairs is ridiculously painful. I don't wear the brace because it's a bit uncomfortable. I'm planning to start wearing it but just have one question. I noticed I don't really feel the pain when I wear the brace but is it okay to wear it and do all the things I can't do without it? Or is that causing more damage in my knee? Cuz the type of pain I feel is combined with a tightening or tugging of the muscles or something and almost feels as though if I apply pressure on it regardless I might be causing more damage inside my knee. I just want to make sure it's safe to still try to function. Because obviously the pain is still there, the brace just acts as a protective guard. Just want to make sure I won't be causing any more damage to my knee while wearing the brace.

I'm having lots of pain and was thinking a brace might relieve some of it. what type of brace would you recommend. one that immobilizes or one that stabilizes?

Hi, I have Juvinile arthritis in both my knees and I've tried knee braces before, but I don't like them because I have bigger thighs and all the braces I've tried squish them and slide down uncomfortably. I don't have a lot of money to spend on this so, do you have any braces you'd recommend?

Sorry missed your question nothing is working. Think the Gel shots made me worse. The next thing to try is PRP. Look it up
      I think its 250.00 a knee
Try 3 advil 3 times a day for 3 weeks
      That may.greatly reduce the inflamation.
Most stuff is snake oil.you cant grow cartilage back. Although the PRP is suppose to.
