  • The Dallas Cowboys trailed by as many as 32 points in the second half despite the final score 48-32. Dak Prescott threw two interceptions, including a pick-six, and is now 2-5 in the playoffs. Despite Mike McCarthy being on the hot seat, Colin Cowherd explains why it is time to have a conversation about Dak and his future. On the other hand, Jordan Love excelled, finishing with 272 pass yards, three touchdowns and a 157.2 passer rating in his first career playoff game. Colin praises Love, explaining why the Green Bay Packers will be successful for years to come with the QB leading the way.

To be fair the early season criticism was warranted. He was looking pretty awful for the first 1/3 of a season, particularly in the first half of games. What was ridiculous though was that people were already burying him at that point. He needed to be given at least a full year before a fair assessment could be made on him. Great job in coaching by the Packers staff and maybe most importantly they took the training wheels off and just let him go at it. He probably couldnt get in a rhythm, read defenses, etc when all they would do is throw 4 yard passes and then the occasional 40 yard bomb.

Colin you look crazy for sitting on your petuIant high chair at Fox studios and calling Jordan Love a bust. Just after five games into his career, man? That’s ridiculous.
I think of the type of pressure that Jordan Love was under from his shoes.
He was drafted into this drama mess franchise with Aaron Rodgers battling the front office, fans hated that he was the draft pick, media said he was gonna fail, then had sit for three years, I’m sure if he had a choice he would’ve been drafted literally anywhere else.
Aaron Rodgers signs a gigantic, which basically declares that the team doesn’t believe in you, in Love’s own words he say that was one of the lowest moments.
The drama finally burns out, rodgers leaves and you get your opportunity, but you’re following two of the top 10-12 greatest quarterbacks of all time, expectations are enormous. You’re not exactly following Alex Smith, who couldn’t do jack squat in the playoffs, or Davis Mills.
You got people calling for your job, build chemistry with teammates, study the defense, get back to playing football again after sitting for years, the media saying that your boss after just a few games. The fans didn’t like that you were even drafted. That’s a lot.
You called him a bust after five games because he wasn’t looking like CJ Stroud. You gotta understand that some guys are projects, and other guys are prospects. CJ Stroud has been pro ready for years, last time, Jordan love played any meaningful football was at Utah state, and if you haven’t noticed, they’re not exactly competing with Georgia, Alabama, and Ohio State for the national championship. I get it wasn’t looking good and new information causes new opinions, but there is a such thing as making opinions WITHOUT enough information, which is what the naysayers did.
5 games into his career? Like Jesus, let him have a chance to play and learn from mistakes. From personal experience, when you’re a back up player for years, and you finally get your opportunity, it’s almost impossible to be playing your best football right away, even if you’re in the same system all those years. I can’t imagine how hard it must be at the highest level of football, outside of the pressure. But this is where you have to listen to hot take artists who never played the sport, past his freshman year in high school with a grain of salt.

Second, I agree with you on Jordan Love's improvement. He DOMINATED the Lions on Thanksgiving Day. Personally, I think the NFC North is on the verge of bringing back the old ''Black and Blue'' mentality. The Lions and Packers are both quality teams. The Bears finished strong and are nobody's cupcake. And, as long as Justin Jefferson is alive and breathing, pity the team which takes the Vikings lightly.

I’ve never seen receivers consistently that wide open in a high school game, let alone an NFL game. He also has a great offensive line. He did zip some balls into tight spots. But the offense also had more production because they fed Aaron Jones in the red zone instead of padding Jordan Love’s stats.

As a packer fan, I have seen so many years of great regular season teams, that just fall apart in the playoffs. The only real exceptions of this are leaders that relish under pressure in the last two decades is Brady and Mahomes. Clicking at the end of the year is more important (I think) then having a great regular season and having a high seed. All the pressure is on those home teams.

Spoiler alert, the *Ravens* will also choke as well. Good strategy for Shanahan to rest some of their starters like Purdy and CMC during the Rams game so they will be fresh to take on the Packers in the Divisional round. I think next year, Lalfuer needs a new defensive coordinator regardless. One playoff game doesn't guarantee that the defense plays like that vs. the 49ers and given where Green Bay ranks in defensive statistical categories with how much they invest on defense, its pretty pathetic regardless of what happened yesterday.
