So so interesting and helpful for me as I forage and dye yarn in Ohio USA. You gave me more ideas for garden plants beyond my past experiences. Thank you.

This is such a wonderful video, Thank you to all involved. I was super lucky to take a workshop with Jules back in 2017 at SWW and she was such a font of knowledge and know how as well as being super lovely sharing heaps of advice about accessible foraging and plant dyeing. It's interesting listening to madder described as exotic because here in Norfolk it used to be a very common dye plant, we had a whole industry based around it at one point and when some finials were designed a few years ago for Norwich Lanes, madder leaves formed the design for the top of one of them. Thank you again for such a joyful and colour filled video.

Maybe, the water here is quite hard (kettles and pipes fur up like nobody's business) and there are also a lot of chalk pits around here and I think both chalk and hard water are good for madder dyeing.
My dyeing after taking Jules dye class in Shetland definitely has gotten a lot better, and I keep neater notes so I have abetter idea what I did when I get a particularly nice colour.
I'm not sure if it was how the video played on youtube but it seemed to skip at 38.54 at the mordanting and tanin but other than that, this was such a lovely video, thank you all for making the open mill weekend accessible virtually xx@@JohnArbonTextile
