Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
I give it an 10. Though the Protector does get a lot of flack and though it's not Jackie's best work, it was still entertaining and chock full of action. Remember staying up late to watch this on TBS and TNT when it came on and the stunts and fight scenes kept me on the edge of my seat. The massage parlour battle and this fight in the warehouse were two of my favorite action scenes (plus the chase through the boats on Hong Kong harbor was exhilarating too).
This is Jackie Chan's action in real time. The white guy didn't even break a sweat and Jackie was all soak.

Not jacky style thriller at all seems very amateur choreography.
Jackie hated these fight scenes the director didn't give him creative control
This film was actually Jackie's 2nd attempt to break into the American audience film market. Unfortunately, it was a co-production with an American director at the helm and he didn't think much of Jackie's skills and experience as a fight director and thought he knew how to shoot and edit a fight scene better than Jackie for the American audiences. So he showed this film with his cuts and edited version and it flopped at the American box office. Meanwhile, Jackie edited and re-shot some scenes and released it for the Asian version and it became a hit internationally including in Europe. I saw both versions and the Asian version had better pacing and more of the Jackie Chan style flavor that we grew to love. You can actually see a comparison of the American and Asian cuts of the fight scenes here on YT.
@@johnlloyddy7016 if you see a picture with Jackie smiling in front of the protector poster at the premiere he said he may be smiling but he was screaming on the inside lol he got so pissed he didn't make a other American movie until rush hour

Yeah exactly. I felt the same the movie is so not Jackie chan style it's more like b grade Hollywood action movie of the 80s.

I fought 6 guys in Palmyra Columbia and won , I'm a expert at Taekwondo and I attacked first I was never touched. Took 30 minutes to come down from the adrenaline. it took about 3 seconds . all jump kicks to the head the remaining 4 ran.
