    The Mondeo Vanden Plas.
Not actually a bad car like everyone says, they're pretty reliable and build quality is good. But it's just not a proper Jag.
I wouldn't want one, but I understand why the people that like them do.

These were good cars in many ways, but people absolutely tarred and feathered their reputation. When I was an import service manager, I saw many other celebrated European cars of the class fall to absolute pieces while even the abused X-types just kept going, despite their awful owners’ best efforts to destroy them.

4:57 what dropped from under the car smh. These were plagued with bad build quality and that right there shows .

Hmmm....was this a common issue or a "pre-production model" problem?

@@damilolaakanni lol at the pre production in quotes . But honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it did occur often these were complete junk.

I saw that too. And yes it is a preproduction model. And no these were not "plagued" with problems. No more so than any other manufacture. If you said Audi or BMW I wouldn't argue.

@@Skyisthelimit4me on the contrary , these were bad builds, this is when they were with Ford and they took a big hit in quality control just look at the facts.

@@Aaron.Crow512 This was not a "bad build". The platform they started with was a good one and the best they had to work with. It uses the Ford Global CDW27 platform which underpins the Ford Mondeo, Ford Contour/Mercury Mystique, Ford Cougar & fwd Mercury Cougar. The Jaguar variant has ALL the good stuff the others didn't get and then some, including that mighty might High Output 3.0 Duratec V6! This car was marketed towards very young buyers. Any car that's designed to be used by young buyers will have a less than stellar reliability record because it is a fact of life that younger people do not know how to take care of things or maintain things the way older people do. This is why most of the cars that were marketed towards older buyer 30 years ago are still on the road. Example Buick LeSabre still on the road excellent reliability record. Pontiac Bonneville mostly in junkyards. Same car same driveline. Why the discrepancy? Buick was marketed towards older people Pontiac was marketed towards younger people. There's your facts. Case closed.

If your introducing a new car for 2005, give it door handles that pull out! Inexcusable

I didn't know a wagon version existed let alone seen one in person. This is ultra rare.

Its too bad these Mondeos eer sorry X Types were so crappy. I drove a friends mom's X Type 4 door and it was a nice car...Id like this car but the tail lights look like a Volvo V40s (corporate twin?) and fragile car.
