I know you mentioned that both devices need to be on the same network. I suppose that means there’s no way to use this when you edit via a remote computer over jump desktop? Great video, by the way. Very informative!
Not that I know of. Not without getting very technical and creative with custom VPNs to fool it and even then, tricky. For working through a network stuff like a stream deck would work better (free app for iPad) or even touch portal, another app for tablets for generic shortcut mapping.
Great thanks for the overview. I have used the app for many years, but I dread the upgrades, as it often no longer works because of a EU, or IOS or APP version mismatch. OUCH!
yeah i tried the app prior a week before watching this…surprisingly it’s great and very responsive….the only downside and making me not using it that much, is my iPad doesn’t have haptic touch…but haven’t tried it on an android tab tho
The mixer is probably really useful when you have a small monitor setup but with my big widescreen monitor I always have the mixer up - and I don´t think that I am faster with the tablet...
Hi Jack, amazing Avid tutorials. They’ve been such a big help! I just started editing a film in Avid but couldn’t figure out how to scroll horizontally in the sequence with a mouse (without using a tilting scroll wheel). In other NLEs, holding Shift lets you do this. Is there a similar function in Avid? Thank you!
To my knowledge, no. There's no official support to match the knobs to the mixer in avid. Perhaps if there was a EuCon plugin for StreamDeck that would allow it but nothing exists like that yet.
Not sure I understand the question. If you mean best workflow then it's a bit subjective but there would be two main ways. 1) Transcode to 1080p proxies to work in an offline environment and edit the project. Then deliver turnover to online where they will link back to the source camera files and do grade and final masters. This is what I usually do. 2) ingest at full resolution and work in 4K (or whatever the camera resolution is. For this create a 1080p project as normal, then LINK (Don't ever use import for video, got a whole video on that) the footage in. Then ideally you should still transcode for best performance (or just consolidate if it's ProRes or DNx source codec), if transcoding go to a decent DNx flavour like DNxHR SQ or HQ. Then do your edit and export in any resolution up to the camera native since you have it to work with. Does that answer the question?
is there any interaction with color correction adjustments or symphony color correction? i hate using mouse to make corrections, way too sensitive but haven't had a better choice yet.
There's a bunch of options for colour correction in the soft keys programming. It's not something I do a lot so haven't looked into it too much but i do remember being impressed with it.
Hey, I am having trouble.. when installing eucon workstation, which of the checkboxes should I check off ? I am assuming the top one only. I am having problems that when I boot up the app on the Adroid tablet it won't show the audio mixer when eucon is on as well.
When checking the boxes one of them should have Avid Control next to it so that's the only one you need. As for the app, what do you mean it won't show the mixer when Eucon is on as well? Is avid launched and the controller setting is set to eucon?
Not that I know of. I believe you could perhaps program soft keys but I'm not sure about the mixer. I tried to connect it unsuccessfully. I believe the application in question has to open up to EuCon and I don't know that resolve does. Tried a quick google with no luck but if you do get it working please let me know. Would be keen to hear more :)
@ i have been trying for the past hour as well with no luck unfortunately. i have a speed editor for resolve of which i absolutely love the jog wheel and now i’m falling in love with this app for avid. i wish i could use both these things on both the NLEs :(
I had no idea this existed. I've got a tablet in the living room that never gets used - it's about to get the shock of its life!

Awesome stuff, look forward to using this!

I can never let me boss see this, or he's just going to be sitting in the back of the room screwing with my edit while Im trying to work
Agreed. Directors and Producers too 😂
Очень круто! Спасибо!

I would like to know if the Streamdeck Plus - the knobs work with the Avid mixer???

How to edit a video shot in Avid 4K on a 1080 timeline and then export it to 4K

does anyone know if there is a way to use this app with Davinci Resolve?

great video! what mac os and computer you are using?
@JogLab M2 Max MacBook Pro. Exact OS and software / hardware used at time of recording is noted in the video description :)
