I don't know if they still do it but a couple of years ago they did bridal showcases around town. It differs from a wedding expo as there is a limited amount of tickets and you had to already be engaged. Wedding vendors (venue/hotel, wedding planner, decorator, florist, DJ/band, and baker) would put on a mock reception. Guests would enjoy the evening and throughout the vendors would address the group sharing what they did and express how they could make their day special. I can't remember if they went to more than one location in a night, but they did a couple of them throughout the city. Local and state governments offer small business assistance. Yes, as a corporate event planner who has wedding experience, getting experience and some type of education is important. I took event management courses from The George Washington University in DC. I would go up and take the weekend courses. They also offered online courses. Great video!
I am a college freshman and just switched my major from interior design to hospitality management. I want to be in the event/wedding industry, and this video was super helpful. I have zero experience in the field and getting started is daunting and scary. I want to intern at some point before I graduate so that I can figure out exactly what I want to do. Thanks for sharing this video!
Depending on the weather, I either wear a comfortable black dress or a black jumpsuit. It is not required, but most coordinators (and vendors of all kinds) wear black while working.

How would a coordinator showcase what they do in a portfolio on their website??
What do you wear for a full day of event coordinator?
