Thanks, it definitely brings back memories, I had that exact version of the green Kawasaki z650 in 1979. I was nearly tempted to buy it to relive my youth 😁🥴
@@paulsilson2148Those x7's were quick, I had a Kawasaki s1 250 in the seventies and it was the fastest 250 around in my area, until my mate got a brand new X7 and started leaving me in his dust 😢.👍
Very enjoyable watch. Your visit to Bill Lomas's dream motorcycle shop had my mouth watering. The problems you highlighted with your BSA are one's I have heard of from other riders of this bike. You have certainly added your touch to your bike and made it unique. I have viewed several of your other videos and look forward to more. All the best. 😊👍🏍
Thanks for the lovely feedback. It changes regularly at bill Lomas, so now, I pop up about every month just to see what new stock is in. I love my BSA. Now it looks like it does, it is a shame there are a few with this problem, but, to be fair, BSA are trying to address it quickly. I've been told, if this 3rd flash doesn't work, they have a second fueling map to make it richer fueling 👍
I really enjoyed your video. Thanks. A great, honest assessment of your bike, which looks awesome, and some difficulties, but also a tour of Bill Lomas’s shop, and describing the TH-cam experience. I’m going to pop up to that shop tomorrow now to have a look. I hope you carry on the videos and even keep your down-to-earth approach. Bit concerned the phone might fall off with the sellotape. All the best.
Thanks, bill Lomas stock changes almost every day, . So I pop up about every month to see what's new. Might treat myself to a real go pro for Christmas, but don't want to get too professional 😂👍
Each to their own as they say I'm glad you are enjoying your bike. I picked a Royal Enfield as I wanted an air-cooled engine. Had it for two years now with zero problems.
Enfields are great, I love my interceptors, I wanted to see what this BSA is about. Glad to hear you're having stress free riding 👍 Hopefully, BSA has said they have a richer fueling map on the ECU if this last flash dont work, otherwise, I might be back to Enfields 🤞👍
I had the same problem with my interceptor when I first got it, had it flashed and it was still happening, I changed the relays which hitchcocks ones and it's been fine, good look, it's certainly a great looking bike, Bill lomas shop is an amazing place 👍🇬🇧🙂🏍
The Z 750 twin were cheap as chips until quite recently. I used to buy them for around £300-£400. I wanted a sidecar to hitch to one of them so a friend found me one in Worksop. The seller insisted that I took an unattached Z750 if I wanted the sidecar. I couldn’t get my breath! I started third kick and the resulting outfit was superb.😊
Thanks, fingers crossed, been ok with plate on for over a year up to now, so long as it's not too small or you've changed any of the letters to look different and it can easily be read at distance for the cameras, should keep most police happy. well, that's what I'm going on 😁🤞👍
In all the year's I've been riding and in all the different bikes I've bought I've never had one that needed 3 batteries in a year. I must admit I've sold my GoldStar and gone back to Japanese so no-one worries regarding breakdowns for me.
BSA blamed the batteries, but my dealer put a different make for the second battery and it still fried. So fingers crossed, this last one lasts forever 🤞👍
I'll definitely have to visit Bill Lomas next time I'm over that way. What a fantastic collection of bikes! The mods you've made to your bike look great, a proper old school cafe racer. The 7k rpm limiter is probably more to do with prolonging engine life rather than limiting power. This engine lives on its torque anyway, and the maximum 55nM is produced at 4k rpm, so I mainly ride that wave between 3k and 5k rpm. It would probably need some lightened internals to spin up much beyond 7k rpm, but if you could retain the torque and increase hp then you'd have the best of both worlds. I do love getting over 70mpg though. It's a massive novelty when compared to 35mpg from my zx12r.
Thanks, I use to have a zx-12r, and a 10r, both great bikes, That's probably why I'm searching for more power,. I was hoping BSA would bring out a larger engined bike at this year's show, but sadly not. So still tempted to get the z900rs now 🫣👍
That took me 3 coffees of watching time but worth every minute! Thanks for the shout out and sorry to have to tell you only teasers were made about several new models in next few years. They won’t muck around with mapping for extra power as even harder emission controls for next year mean extra lambda sensors on bikes. Cutouts are supposed to be fixed with the latest rideability map. I recon your cut outs are fuel starvation, you do like to rev😊 and sudden throttle cutoff will (on lean burn engines) starve it of fuel. A FuelX fitted might be what you need. Keep going with the vids👍
I gave up with mine cutting out. 2 remaps . Still the same. Always going down the box. Final straw was going into a roundabout, going down box, and yes I do blip throttle. Got room so went for it, engine stopped and as you are not expecting to brake I ended up clutch in fumbling to get it started coasting into roundabout. Not good. Dealer told me they can't find anything. Then don't bring it here if you are trading it!!!!! Final straw. Too lean set up I reckon
I think it's limited to 7000 to make it A2 legal, probably electronically. There must be a way to reprogram. Although, with a motor as under stressed but torquey as this, I think all the fun would be between 0 - 7k rpm. My guess is it'd be a bit flat further north in the rev range after the 7k mark. Might get very 'vibey' as well!😂 Looks and sounds the part though.
@@splodge57 My 650 Suzuki xf is happy to pull up 'n over 8k rpm. It isn't worth the bother (or worry) though. All the serious whoosh is provided from 4000 - 6000 rpm. Nowt better than the lovely dollops of torquey power you can get from a good big single.
Fingers crossed, no trouble with the plate in over a year. And I must have been past loads of number plate camera readers Maybe because it's clear to read by cameras and police, not too small I suppose. Or they actually think iss an old bike, Only time will tell.🤞👍
Love the camera, i thought i was the only one who had done that with my phone! My bike fell off stand couple of weeks ago as you described ,nothing worse than the sound of crashing metal, would'nt have happened if i'd left it in gear . You are right about RE , how many bikes can they churn out with the same engine?, anyway didnt stop me owning one though 😄 and at least the engine is a good engine. Hope you get to the bottom of the problem you're having with your BSA , I would love to own one myself , I wonder why Rotax dont just produce their own 650 under their own name, i think they'd sell like hot cakes. Cheers then, happy riding.👍
Yes, Enfield are excellent bikes, I've had 2 interceptors and loved them. just tempted to see what this BSA was about and was pleasantly surprised until the cut outs. But BSA have said it's the lean fueling to pass the euro 5 and they have a richer map as last resort for me🤞👍
The reason for the cutouts ? It'll be that Devils Number in the reg plate !!!! Seriously though, the cutouts would drive me mad plus be a worrying thing too. Had a BMW cut out once on a roundabout. Was not popular with the car drivers and I didn't feel too 'fit' either !!!!
That's funny about the plate 🤣. I've actually done that on a roundabout, it is a little hair raising. Hopefully, if this latest map doesn't work, BSA said there is a richer map on it so that should definitely work. Apparently, it's all about the lean mapping for Euro 5 regs.
@@awesomeappleby5923 Makes sense. I bought a new RE Interceptor in November '20 to avoid the leaner set-up for 2021 yr with the new Euro 5 stuff. The later RE's could have stalling issues at traffic lights/junctions. If they did stall then the dealers installed a 'new' map, (the pre 2021 Euro 4 mapping I found out). They worked fine then apparently with no issues !
