Yes, absolutely! He's like "Oh, been there, seen that..." It's as if he knows all of this so well that he cannot stop himself from moving along with the music!
Michael Ball is amazing, although I find it hard to hear him as anyone other than Marius. Although I do wonder how many times they rehearsed this....Probably not too many
@nvieira100 Michael has actually played Valjean. He did so in 2004 at Windsor Castle in a special royal command performance when the president of France visited the UK. Ramin Karimloo also performed in the show as Enjolras.
actually i liked him as jean valjean, i think he was a really strong voice. prefer him as marius of course, but if he can't play marius this is my second choice.
I agree with him being a better marius, and I found it amusing that he said the finale to les mis, as he knows perfectly well that it is not. Colm Wilkinson will probably always be Val Jean for me.
It would have worked! He just had to...you know...turn and face the opposite direction when he sung the other part. And when Valjean and Marius sing at the same time, he just has to use two different voices simultaneously! No problem for Michael.
I think Michael is singing Valjean because, he is the only one of them who can. He out-sings all of them. Actually Michael have played Valjean. He did it at a special royal command performance at Windsor Castle in front of the royal family, the french president and about 200 invited guests. (In 2004)
I think it's from the VE day concert in Hyde Park 1995 - I'm looking for that concert myself too. I only have this clip and the clip of Michael singing Anthem from Chess. :(
So ... I absolutely adore Michael Ball to little bits and pieces. That being said, unless, as he ages, his voice takes on a quality different from this one, he's not going to be playing Valjean any time soon. His voice is sooo beautiful, but wrong for Valjean.
@mylesag2 LOL That would be fun, but he can't reach those notes. I don't think any man can. :) He has played Marius and Jean Valjean, but he has also recorded I Dreamed A Dream and sung it in concert, so in some way he's also played Fantine. :)
Michael would be a great Valjean. He actually have played the part before. He did it at Windsor Castle in 2004 for a Royal Command Performance. The problem with THIS performance is the other singers. They are not on the same level as Michael, which makes the whole performance a bit weird and unballanced. I would love to see Michael as Javert some day though
hiya folks. calm down! this is a live performance. simply a show and this show wasn´t staged for being filmed. definitly not. what a huge audience and huge stage. everything needs to be bigger and a stage like that. Well, ok, they all missed the last breath6phrase, but I would honestly think, it´s just a performance for this show. Looks really like comming together of good singers, tributing a great musical. This is not the show on stage. the videotaping ruins it. Honestly
@nufc2k10 I agree Frances is amazing but when you watch the 10th Anniversery all you can here is Colm, Michael and Lea (who is louder then everyone else)
In fairness, the tempi the conductor has chosen is particularly slow for this particular song.. listen to any of the other recordings on youtube. They're probably trying to encourage them to speed up - after all, it's the orchestra who follow the musicians, not the other way around. Point taken on the fact that some of them sound a little insecure though.
If anything, he's more suited to Valjean's part now, being too old to play the Lethario that he was as Marius. And to be fair, he did it justice - I prefer his tenor over Colm Wilkinsons.
Urgh, this new Marius got his lyrics wrong. It's "Do I stay and do I dare" not "Do I die or do I dare". And to get it wrong it in front of Michael Ball, could it BE more embarrassing?
We went to see him at the height of his singing powers and have amazing memories of a wonderful evening. Linda
Michael Ball is one of the most amazing singers I know. His voice is louder than all of the others' voices combined. It's breathtaking!!!
It just cuts through everybody else's voices!
You can tell Michael is having fun, it's great!
Michael, Michael, Michael! Sooo amazing!!!!!
Dear Michael. There is NO ONE to match you! I love you so! Your voice is electric!!!!
Great singing oh that voice and dimples ❤
Damn I love Michael Ball. His little head bounce when the Thenardiers come on cracks me up!
There's not enough Michael to go around so it's ok, I'll be take all of him!!!
I agree his voice is too...pure and nice
What a lovely song Michael is a fantastic🎉 singer❤
Best ever musical show....***** five stars...
Michael is belting out those One Day More's... holy crap he sounds good.
Dear Michael: You are so enticing!!!! Love your power, when you belt this out
I can hear his wonderful voice through all the rest!!!!!
Let's just have a recording with Michael singing ALL the roles :)
he gives me goose bumps with the One Day Mores
The actress singing Cosette has a lovely voice. Smooth and yet slightly operatic . . . very nice. Thanks for posting.
Michael has such a powerful voice like oh my god !!
great show great cast.
Yes, absolutely! He's like "Oh, been there, seen that..." It's as if he knows all of this so well that he cannot stop himself from moving along with the music!
Michael, you are really the best! So nice to listen you sing
What an exceptional voices! Bravo! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Michael: you are so precious!
Gives me chills!
I came here because i tought i had read Michael Bay but i don't regret for clicking it.
I think Michael is the best here.
The best version I have heard and seen Wow!!!!!!!!
Wow wow wow
And now he's played Javert... three ages of man!
Michael Ball is amazing, although I find it hard to hear him as anyone other than Marius. Although I do wonder how many times they rehearsed this....Probably not too many
Michael is bril, lv him lv his voice. XLX
I about lost it when the "Thenardiers" started cackling, hahahaha!
awesome, gotta love mb
I love this, but Michael will always be the perfect Marius in my mind.
This performance is really powerful.
It almost isn't fair for the rest of the company that Michael is so good
*I'll take all of him*
@nvieira100 Michael has actually played Valjean. He did so in 2004 at Windsor Castle in a special royal command performance when the president of France visited the UK. Ramin Karimloo also performed in the show as Enjolras.
I especially like the part where he forgets to come in. :) He's so used to being Marius. I love him though.
actually i liked him as jean valjean, i think he was a really strong voice. prefer him as marius of course, but if he can't play marius this is my second choice.
O ponto alto deste extraordinário musical é este...mas é o fim do primeiro ato

My sister in law Meredith Braun singing there too. X
I'd love to hear Michael sing Cosette!!
hahah that smile! :D
chefmikko I agree completely, especially when Michael gives "one day more" some welly
THE MAGICIANSS ?? ❤️❤️❤️ Eliot and Margo is the bestt !
I agree with him being a better marius, and I found it amusing that he said the finale to les mis, as he knows perfectly well that it is not. Colm Wilkinson will probably always be Val Jean for me.
whew! goosebumps
He already has been Valjean, in the performance at Windor Castle ten years ago.
Yes
It would have worked! He just had to...you know...turn and face the opposite direction when he sung the other part. And when Valjean and Marius sing at the same time, he just has to use two different voices simultaneously! No problem for Michael.
I always had trouble hearing the scumbags parts in other renditions. I finally heard most of em are goners so they don't miss much.
I should rephrase my comment.
"He'll be a good Valjean in anniversary version in the future."
I think Michael is singing Valjean because, he is the only one of them who can. He out-sings all of them.
Actually Michael have played Valjean. He did it at a special royal command performance at Windsor Castle in front of the royal family, the french president and about 200 invited guests. (In 2004)
I bet that inwardly Mr. Ball is cringing when the Marius dude sings his lines wrong. xD
Am I right or am I right?
That Michael Ball guy is good.
He'll be a good Valjean in the future
I think it's from the VE day concert in Hyde Park 1995 - I'm looking for that concert myself too. I only have this clip and the clip of Michael singing Anthem from Chess. :(

@MAGICLOVER8 Yes, she does indeed play Belle in the muppets christmas carol!
Wonder how Michael Ball felt after hearing that guy get his lyrics wrong.
1995
I was just thinking that when I heard that when reading your comments.... What the heck just happened there?!
@mylesag2 LOL That would be fun, but he can't reach those notes. I don't think any man can. :)
He has played Marius and Jean Valjean, but he has also recorded I Dreamed A Dream and sung it in concert, so in some way he's also played Fantine. :)
Alfie boe is amazing singing this... breath taking. Micheal ball good but alfie is just outstanding 😊
shazydaz
Michael would be a great Valjean. He actually have played the part before. He did it at Windsor Castle in 2004 for a Royal Command Performance.
The problem with THIS performance is the other singers. They are not on the same level as Michael, which makes the whole performance a bit weird and unballanced.
I would love to see Michael as Javert some day though
You got your wish
Javert in the staged concert of les mis.
hiya folks. calm down! this is a live performance. simply a show and this show wasn´t staged for being filmed. definitly not. what a huge audience and huge stage. everything needs to be bigger and a stage like that. @musicgirl4ever1 It's the finale of Act 1 if you want to get pedantic lol.
what is the name of the first girl who sings, with the short black hair? she is amazing.
@nufc2k10 I agree Frances is amazing but when you watch the 10th Anniversery all you can here is Colm, Michael and Lea (who is louder then everyone else)
"Do I die and do I dare"??
Omg... when marius messes up his lyrics.... Shame on you! you don't mess up your lyrics in front of Michael Ball! >:(
In fairness, the tempi the conductor has chosen is particularly slow for this particular song.. listen to any of the other recordings on youtube. They're probably trying to encourage them to speed up - after all, it's the orchestra who follow the musicians, not the other way around. Point taken on the fact that some of them sound a little insecure though.
He was Javert in the staged concert of les mis.
"Do I DIE, do I dare?! That's not right! Anyway, beside that it was great!
The girl singing eponine-- was she in the muppets Christmas-- singing with Scrooge??
I think Micheal Ball was amazing in this, his "One Day More!"-s at the end were much more powerful than Colm Wilkinsons
i find it funny that whenever michael ball is singing he makes the rest of them look stupid and you cant hear anyone else
Michael Ball lost a sentence 'Tomorrow we'll be far away'
lol that marius opens his mouth so wide all the time. pretty funny to watch
Michel is a fantastic Valjean but i would love to see him do "Javert" in the stage version :)
have to ask quast or norm lewis permission first lol
He was javert in the staged concert of les mis.
can't hear anyone else over the ONE DAY MOREEEEEEEEEEEEE
@DeMariniDemon25 Definitely Agreed
there is one singer here and lol she does not really know the part (and the rest is just acting).
i love Cosette......and the ternadies ( sp?)
Where is this? Place and date pls...!! Thanks !
They are not together where they are supposed to be. What is this from?
who played enjolras, he was really powerful
Is eponine the girl that plays bell in a muppets christmas carrol?
he did the "egyptian head movements" beacause he's like boosted up by the thernardiers
what concert is this? i wanna watch it in full
hi hi, is this from a DVD?
Why Michael Ball singing Jean Valjean part???
@DeMariniDemon25 Agreed
quon more day before the storm enjolras
If anything, he's more suited to Valjean's part now, being too old to play the Lethario that he was as Marius. And to be fair, he did it justice - I prefer his tenor over Colm Wilkinsons.
Honestly, I think Michael just enjoys hollering at the top of his lungs. Yep yep.
Urgh, this new Marius got his lyrics wrong. It's "Do I stay and do I dare" not "Do I die or do I dare". And to get it wrong it in front of Michael Ball, could it BE more embarrassing?
Is Marius in this on Jeff Leyton?
Anyone know who the others are?
