Please tell me that you hit up giovanni's pizza while in Ashland. Every time I have ever ran into anyone that has lived in Ashland whether it has been in the US or in Okinawa, we always sit and talk about giovanni's pizza with tears in our eyes as big as horse turds. At the 20:40 mark of the video you passed by an abandoned grocery store on the left on 13th street. The grocery store was Foodland. In 1994 my dad was kidnapped and murdered out of that parking lot. The video brought back a lot of memories. Some good, some tragic. Thank you for posting it.
haha, I remember Giovanni's pizza back in the 90's. We left Ashland in 2001 for Texas, but everytime we come back up to visit family, Giovanni's is the answer! One thing I miss more than anything though, is the arcade at the mall. Last time I look it was no longer there. I have so many memories of pumping quarters into those machines as a kid. The garden roller rink also was amazing. Nostalgia at it's finest.
@@NickyBobby-wx6ig in the late 70's and early 80's the roller rink was Perry's. I remember all the excitement when it first opened. Last time I was there was in 2021. Central Park looked so much different than when I last saw it. Certain areas have really deteriorated due to neglect and crime. That part was heart breaking.
I was born in Kings Daughters Hospital, now known as KDMC. Moved away for awhile. I came back to my old stomping grounds and I probably will always live near Ashland. Very nice town to live in. I live 15+ miles from Ashland, but it is the nearest big town for shopping, movies, eating out, etc. So you go to Ashland for it all.
Hey! So my husband and I are flying down to KY to look at house in a couple weeks. One of our favorite houses is in Ashland. It is right by the Bellfonte Country Club. Would you be able to tell me what you think of the area and if it's a good place to raise kids?(we have 3 young children)
@@katrinahofmann6284 Yes, that is a very nice area. Doctors, lawyers, etc. I believe that is in the Russell school district and that is a good school district. Nearby is a Kroger store, restaurants, doctors and a lot of shopping areas. It is a good place to live. A town near by is Flatwoods. Also a good area, but housing is less expensive there. Same school district. Hope this helps. Also several churches if you are interested in churches.
I was born in that exact hospital. I moved from Ashland when I was 11, but I enjoyed going back to work on our house there until we sold it. Good times
@@katrinahofmann6284 . I grew up on Amanda furnace drive in bellefonte. That area is very nice and definitely known as the rich area of Ashland. The houses are nice, plenty of things to do, markets and stores are close by. I haven’t lived there for 7 years, but it is a safe area and I look back positively on my childhood days in bellefonte. I had a great childhood there and I think your kids could have one too. Good luck
Thanks so much for the video. I was born and raised in Ashland in the 40's and 50's. So sad that they lost the major plants (ARMCO Steel) and others, but the city is just as beautiful as I remember.
I have been living in Ashland for almost two years. You almost went by my apartment building, but turned back toward tow, just a two or three blocks too soon.

You should go to Winchester, it’s off I64 in Clark county
I've been there before, I had to go that way to get to Huntington, WV
Drove by Winchester but didn't have time to film it.

Best vehicles for the road? It would probably all be SUVs or trucks in my opinion. Just have to pay extra for the gas of course.
Is this in boyd county?
Very nice. Folks take care of their environment.
Did you know that legendary game show host Chuck Woolery was born here?
Barber747 Yes I do know that Chuck Woolery was born in Ashland KY.
Good to know. I didn't know he was from here.
Yep..he grew up one street over from me in South AShland. He lived on a brick street.
