    You drove right by my great-grandfathers house when you drove past Wallace Ct. I plan to visit Richmond someday, but in the meantime, I'm very grateful to be able to see the area via your video. Thank you so much. : )

    At 10:57 my white car is spotted on the left next to the red car. My uncle and I are preparing to move out of Richmond Kentucky very soon. I only took the apartment to get off the street. The only thing keeping this town alive is EKU College. Without EKU, this town would dry up into nothing. Even a local cab driver was telling us that.

    Back in the 80's, I used to leave the Depot and drive back to Frankfort. Main St was crowded with young people. Madison county was in the first "wet" county that young people could go to and have fun.

    A lot of people don’t tell you about the urban sides of town. But avoid the Turpin Dr/Ballard/3rd St area at night time. (West End) and avoid the E Irvine St/E St/Orange St/Hill St/ Elm St area at night as well (East End). I’ve been robbed on three different occasions and almost shot on one occasion in those areas. Richmond has many urban problems for a small town that aren’t talked about or paid attention to.

      Oh I agree I shared with the police department least some of their willing to listen I know I'm absolutely right I've been here in Richmond for 11 years and has lived a lot farther in the deep South is well. Richmond's far enough from being in the deep South have shared with people if they do not clean up the ongoing blighted areas who always have a continued through the drug problem in America and Richmond Kentucky is absolutely no different I started cleaning up these areas years ago the sad thing about it is nobody's ever come to pay me with any kind of incentives I work in areas like this for many many years this is not my first rodeo. It's pretty sad that such a small town has these kind of issues and problems with small-town America unfortunately is not the same small-town America that I grew up in I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago where this is commonplace if you're going to be able to clean up the drug problem in American culture not just Richmond not just the suburbs of Chicago but many other small urban areas rural areas you've got to start, cleaning up these areas you have to adjust the drug problem all across the country not just in Kentucky it's sad to even think that nobody wants to clean up these ongoing blighted areas and what I mean by blighted areas those blighted areas like Turpin drive and places like that or what attracts unwanted people into these areas by not cleaning up these areas I promise you you will always have a contingency of the problem and people ask me all the time will how's that going to work and I'm completely bowled and honest what's working now nothing but not doing this you always have a contingency of the problem. Secondly just something I've noticed in the area there are people around here that act like I don't know what I'm talking about well guess what I'm not the one with the problem or the issue it's pretty sad and evident that there is a problem if there wasn't a problem we wouldn't be culturally talking about this from across the not just here in Richmond this something to think about.

    Eastern KY University is the main attraction in Richmond. It has a very nice campus...worth a walk thru if you ever film on foot.
    Another small KY town with a nice mainstreet is Danville...home to Centre College.

    Richmond mall outside of town is dead. Malls everywhere are dying but wonder what impact it has on small towns such as this

    • @MileageMikeTravels
      @MileageMikeTravels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems like the malls in small towns are being replaced by Walmarts.

    • @MrJestyler
      @MrJestyler 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MileageMikeTravels yes Walmart and Amazon definitely contribute to malls dying. Small towns/cities feel a bigger impact. ☹️
