@Evidence Based Football Manager I think all of the instructions involving position are more the players' position relative to their teammates rather than their position relative to the pitch. In that if you have 3 CBs the CB(L) will try to stay left of the CB(C) who will try to stay left of the CB(R) and all of them will try to stay deeper than any DM or CMs etc; but all of them will move up based on line of engagement or left or right on defense depending on where the ball is and who they're trying to mark etc. I think to see if 'roam' from position is functioning you'd have to see if say a roaming DM playmaker would go higher up the pitch than their CMs or a Wide playmaker would move inside so they were no longer the widest player on that side more often than other roles in those positions.
This is some awesome stuff! I would say that, without seeing the frequency a player is in a zone - as in how the heat map should work - its hard to tell how much more the RPM is "roaming" more than the CM(s). This is because as a midfielder you are expected to be covering a lot of the pitch already It is interesting to see, however, that the RPM is just about staying in the same zones as CM(s). I think what would be more important to see would be related to passing stats. Overall, I have just stumbled upon your channel - looks super interesting and hope you keep up with it. I am starting to learn data analytics myself and will follow this channel keenly.
Cool Video man, very interesting! I think a measure thats missing here in my mind is maybe the team xg over the whole match, maybe something you could include in future videos? keep it up!
