    Thanks for helping me discover this node. Was looking for a way to use this to create a mosaic video with 49 cubes. Very labor intensive and heavy on the PC. Hope to find an easier way but so far no luck.

      You're welcome, @wvansluisveld3011. Yes, my computer has a hard time with multiple 3D shapes (I have an Intel Core i5-9300H (2.4Ghz) CPU plus 16GB RAM). I will look to do more 3D shape experiments with DaVinci Resolve in future and will post any solutions I can find to any playback or rendering issues if I discover these.

    Awesome!!! This is right up my alley!!! Since 3D I do so much. I used to do this in After Effects which makes working with 3D easier than Davinci but once you get used to nodes it becomes much easier in Davinci. Big THANKS!!! :)

      No I meant After Effects is much easier in 3D. You just click on the 3D icon and add a camera. No nodes or anything like that. But you have made it much less of a pain to do it in Davinci now) 🤩🤩🤩

      Hi @3DGraphicsFun. Ah okay. Sorry, I still haven't tested the waters with After Effects yet. Would be great to make time for it at some point. Glad that the tutorial was helpful to you.

      @@C0ntiChannel Yep, You know how much I love Davinci. But I have never been a fan of Nodes. But they are extremely efficient compared to the layers in AE. Just a pain to learn and use nodes properly :)

    Love this tutorial so I checked out your channel and, WOW, you have created a mass of Resolve effect tutorials. Fun! I need to look at that Smoke/Text one next. Say, with ver 18 out now, would the techniques in your tutorials for the effects be done differently because of new features? It seems like Resolve/Fusion techs are using no keyframes now. Thanks for all your work to produce these videos- they are appreciated.

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @jer. Thank you so much for commenting and for checking out my channel; it means a lot to me. There are some effects and techniques in DaVinci Resolve that don't function or turn out the same in the more recent versions but I'd say that a majority of the cencepts explored including in the tutorials recorded before in pre-version 18 are still relevant in the modern version of the software. If I find any erroneous instructions or significant changes to the interfaces, I will state the relevant changes in the video comment boxes for future reference. I still use keyframes a lot myself in both the Edit and Fusion sections of the software and you won't require any plugins to follow the tutorials that I've done so far.

    This is a great idea as well as a great tutorial. I'm guessing it might work with text as well

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @Robert Bascelli. Many thanks for your feedback. Yes, it's possible. First attach a Merge node in Fusion to one of the Cube3D arrows instead of what is done with MediaIn and Transform tools in the tutorial. You then connect a Text+ node to the green foreground arrow of the Merge node. To make sure that the background surrounding the text isn't transparent, connect a Background node to the yellow background arrow of the same Merge node. Hope that helps.

    Cool but when I connect rendered3d to media out my orange box is too big for my canvas so I cannot see the left and right edges. I have the job set to mobile reel format 1080x1920.

      Hi @sireric871. I'm sorry that you're experiencing this problem in the software. I had the exact same issue in 18.1.6 and then in 18.5, I couldn't even open Fusion! At present, I'm still on 18.6 and the 3D seems to responding alright to me. Hope that you find a resolution to this soon.

    Hey C0nti... My stills are getting automatically resized and warped when I connect them to transform and cube...
    Suggestions? It is something to do with aspect control within transform inspector, right? But how do I adjust it to the original format?

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Calai. Sorry that you're experiencing problems with your animation. I think it may be due to settings applied in the Transform inspector section of the tutorial as you say (3:16 - 4:00). Could you check that you have not applied keyframes to any of the variables under 'Control Options' here, please? I didn't apply any myself when making this video as I wanted each of the images to be static on the faces of the cube. If this doesn't work, you can reset all of the variable settings by clicking on the rotated arrow icon in the top-right corner of the inspector window to reset all of your Transform properties. Hope that helps.

    • @calaiart
      @calaiart 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@C0ntiChannel No, yeah those would be good resize back the still so they are not stretched. But I would have to rely on my eye and commom sense to find a good spot. I was wondering if there is a option to restore the still to the original aspect when inserting them. Like I said, when I do so, they get automatically resized to fit (your don't, for some reason). What I need to know is how to return them to the original aspect after inserting.

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @Calai. You're images may be getting warped as the resolution dimensions of your images may be too inconsistent with one another, e.g. a width with a far greater pixel count than the height. Once you select the Transform tool connected to your image (MediaIn) node, you could adjust the Aspect value in Inspector to see if you could restore the image's original appearance. If this still doesn't work, try adding a Crop tool between the Transform and Cube 3D nodes. Try adjusting Offset and Size values until your image finally fits the face of the cube. Hope that helps.

      @@C0ntiChannelI too am having the same problem (Resolve 18.6.2), and I'm wondering if things have changed between versions.
      Your images don't appear to be square in the media pool, and are not getting "distorted"to fit the square side of the cube.
      I also notice the controls in the Transform inspector are not the same.
      It seems strange there's no "automated" way to apply the image in its original aspect ratio (as seems to happen ok in your excellent tutorial [subbed]).
      It's a real pain having to change the aspect ratio of each image (by eye) to eliminate the distortion.
      Could you check if this problem is a result of changes between versions?
      Thanks! 👍

    Nice tutorial. Where do you find the rotation numbers? I would like to make tweaks but I wonder if I could read up on it?

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @Ralph's POV. Many thanks for your feedback. Are you referring to the number of rotations that the cube completes in the clip? At the moment, I can only find the angle values under Transform (4:45 in the tutorial) for the Cube3D tool. If you wanted to get the rotation animation to loop, you could try to apply the techniques illustrated in this tutorial that I made before:
      th-cam.com/video/casvqTrzi0E/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps.

      @@C0ntiChannel Thanks. My issue is that the photos are upside down more than they are upside up. Wondering what science I could read up for proper random rotating. I will check your link and play with it myself to see if I can improve the direction of rotation. . Thanks again for your tutorials.
      Edit: I guess I could keyframe the photos to be upright when in view and then have it switch directions when not in view.

    how do we save it

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Cowboy Bobby. You can export the project in the Delivery window with transparency around the actual image by selecting Single Clip, QuickTime, GoPro CineForm, RGB 16-bit and having Export Alpha ticked, but unfortunately the exported video file only seems to open up with transparency surrounding the rotating cube in other DaVinci Resolve projects and not in other software files, e.g. a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. I will keep an eye out for alternative transparency export methods and will post a tutorial if I find a solution.

    Is there a way to round the corners of the cube?

    • @C0ntiChannel
      @C0ntiChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi @DigitalHZRD. I tried having a look for a Corner Radius variable as you would see with a 2D rectangle in the software but it doesn't appear to be available within the Shape3D node for a cube. I will keep an eye out for a relevant property in Fusion and will post another tutorial if I find anything.
