    There are several things to keep in mind if your child walks to school. Practice walking the route with them. Be sure to accompany young children on the walk to school or to the bus stop. Review pedestrian safety rules. Practicing keeping the phone away. Heads Up, Phones Down. Obey crossing guards. If your child. School bus safety: Arrive at the bus stop on time, practice getting to bus stop, know safety rules for entering and exiting the school bus. Remind your children to obey drivers and aides. Always stay seated and be on best behavior. Car rider safety: Buckle up every ride, every time. Be a good passenger and follow the school drop off and pick up policy. Drivers: Slow down and don’t drive distracted in school zones. Stop for buses with yellow or red flashing lights/arm out. Yield to pedestrians even if not crossing in proper places. Give bikers the necessary room to navigate streets.
