I don’t understand why Jim took a bond market breakdown as a confirming signal for reestablishing short positions in equities (ES specifically in this case) at 51:25 in the video. I would have thought the opposite: Bond prices going down could signal reduced bearishness. Am I missing something? I am relatively new to trading
Also thank you Peter for all the amazingly helpful resources you out out. I have already learned so much from you!
EDIT - thinking back to that time now, after posting my comment, I remember rates were higher and rising rates were getting a lot of attention as a risk to equities. So perhaps this is where Jim was coming from - lower prices/higher rates would put more stress on equities and fuel the sell off, hence the short position.

Market profile isn't suited to scalping. All of those price references are more easily found on a bar chart. A seasoned bar chart reader can easily see all of the information that market profile offers and more. Start there instead. You'll be better served with simple tools, rather than esoteric ones. Most of trading is studying the risk reward ratios that the market is offering at the time and psychology. Take the list of price references and leave the rest behind.

I think that is dead wrong. Bar charts only show the open, high, low, and close. If you watch MP over the course of just one week you would see turning points constantly at VAL, VAH, POC, tops/bottoms of spikes and more. The OHLC chart shows NONE of those.

      J. R. This is Just an excuse to not do any work. You clearly did not watch or understand the lecture.

Hi Peter, OHLC (for a session) are popular scalper's opportunities and on Jim's list. Don't need market profile for that.
I agree that a volume POC should be on the list, but not a TPO POC. Why use TPOs when volume brings a higher probability? VAH/L is weak and more of an area, so not suited for scalpers' tactics, imo.
I also disagree with your philosophy that a POC is a place to exit but not enter. Except when price returns to the day's POC in progress in the afternoon and is likely to stick. However, retests of virgin volume POCS are high probability pivots. Besides the contextual exceptions, how does the exit thesis not reconcile with the entry thesis?
I can visualize a decent profile approximation from a 1m or 5m bar chart - because there is overlap and spikes - just as there are TPO overlap and spikes - because its the same market. That makes a volume profile chart a secondary tool - not suited for the novice scalper. And the 30m TPOs that you use aren't suitable either. I respectfully stand by my assertion.

What a Bullshit, Profiles in combine with Imbalances and historical DOM Limits are the best ever to scalp the Future market .

@@j.r.2399 Thanks for the well written response. More often in the social media, people taken opposing view personally. Both you and Peter did not. Beneficiary is this novice trader. Thanks

I'd be surprised if this guy has ever taken a trade in his life. Sounds like an expert commentator.

Before you post and sound like an asshole, do research and find out who this man is.

if a scalper enter on a weak reference, when he has to get out of the trade to make a profit, and when he must to get out to not lose too much? there is a view he has to fix in his mind?
