- It took me this long to go back to playing Skyrim to complete it, loved this track. Image is when you look up at the sky, with a small change made by me.

EXACTLY! This is one of the most beautiful pieces ever placed into a game! It just resonates something deep within your soul. You can just put this on loop, close your eyes and lose yourself within it. Kind of makes you wonder what they are going to place in Elder Scrolls 6.😇

Everytime I enter Sovngarde, I'm completely blown away by the atmosphere... No matter how many times I've been there.
The fight with Alduin might be underwhelming for being the literal World-Eater, but Bethesda really did do Sovngarde right. The sky, the music, the ever present fog filled with the dead heroes of old and your own playthrough, the massive mead hall and the Whalebone bridge guarded by the towering Tsun. It really is a sight to see. One of the coolest parts though is how no matter where you are in Sovngarde, the statues at the edges of the valley will always be facing you.

Mike Smithmyer the sky actually represents the three types of playable character builds you can be in the game. That being the mage, thief, and warrior.

Use paralyze poison on 2 weapons, refresh it every few seconds. Knockback with archery perk or destro dual casting perk helps a lot as well.

I actually think it’s the “Canon” version Dovahkiin or an NPC would hear. The “Real” theme just draws us into the game.
The title screen one isn't the true dragonborn theme, this is, the dragonborn song was lost in time and sovngarde has it, hence this song
I believe this really is, according to the in-game book Song of Skyrim, it says "The following is an ancient song we've only recently been able to translate. Without a tune or a sure pronunciation the song is lost to time. It's included here to show the deep history of song here in Skyrim. The original version..." then it listed the Dragonborn theme's lyrics. The problem is, they sounds similar, but the lyrics were not exactly like the theme that you'd hear when you're fighting a Dragon or in the main menu. It sounds like tune+chanting for parts that the tunes were unknown. Now this song, shares the exact same lyrics from the book, with a completely different tune and melody, it sounds more completed. This song might actually be the real Dragonborn theme that was played during the said "time" in "lost to time" by the ancient nords in Sovngarde.
Facts
I remember I used all my health potions in the dungeon before you go here, and all I had when I killed Alduin was the food from the halls of sovngarde.

Thing is, the song you hear in the main menu is the nords “modern” interpretation of the song using ancient lyrics. This song is the original song the ancient nords made.

I wish sovngarde had more purpose then just a place for a quest, maybe you could go there and revist, stuff like that.

I wish there was something like if Alduin dies, the heroes go out and rebuild sovngarde, this includes excavating the word wall atop the hill and you have to come back multiple times to get a unique shout, and maybe the second word is on the destroyed wall on top of the throat of the world and the third (or first) you get as a gift from t gods for defeating Alduin
you can with console command, but as suggested by Tsun, living people probably shouldn't stick around in heaven
There are secret chests and Talos himself in sovngarde, meeting Tiper Septim is badass, he founded Skyrim and was the first emperor, a god damn badass like Alexander The Great
That scene with all of the dragons surrounding you after you first leave sovengarde is still one of my favorite moments of Skyrim

I could tell why Nords would want to end up here. Every playthrough after I jump through the skuldafn portal I am greeted with this music whose power and majesty send chills up my spine. How raw it must be to be there feasting with history's greatest heroes, singing in mighty, unbreakable voices these hymns.

This level for me made the whole game. Sovngarde is not just the final stage of the main quest. It is an experience, it is something I tasted completely, drop after drop. The music, the world, the heroes sitting beneath Shor's light in that magnificent hall...
Agreed. I think the Sovngarde level ranks top in terms of all atmospheric moments I've felt in video games. You breathed Sovngarde. The sheer sense of wonder and dreamlike, trancelike sense of destiny...I've not seen it before. I've not felt it since.

@That1pear that is not true. The Thalmor have no issue with Sovangarde they just dont believe Talos is a god and that he shouldnt be worshiped they have no issue with the other divines or daedra. What you're thinking of is their Elven superiority complex which is something most Elven races have. Then again creators tend to do that with their Elves.

i just realised how much skyrim must have pulled from norse mythology:the music,sovngarde and valhalla.the cry of the norse people was,most likely,'FOR VALHALLA' and in skyrim all the soldiers before a battle roar 'FOR SOVNGARDE '.
Phoenix Wells I get a real Viking feel when listening to this song too, if that makes any sense. I'm a huge fan or the nords in Skyrim and the Vikings in real life.

There are many Dragonborn, it's a status, not a name. The hymn is dedicated to the Dohvakiin in general.
Rebeca Stanca You're right, but the translated lyrics refer to the dragonborn who comes to sovngarde to end the world eater. So actually the song is very specific to your character, the translations are around if you want to read them.
Well, there has only been two, The first Dovahkiin and the new one, who kills Alduin.

The draugr scared me too. I just completely avoided Bleak Falls Barrow until I was level 10 with a complete set of steel armor and a (shitty) elven sword.
I was six at the time of release too but I didn't play video games at the time. I got it a few years ago and I've probably replayed it 15-22 times. It's easily one of my favourite games ever.

Definitely. I've had it on all of the consoles: Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, Nintendo switch and Xbox One. I must've played it at least 60 times and I've currently got 5000+ hours playtime on Nintendo switch. It really is one of my all time favourite games lmao

I highly recommend a DLC sized mod, called Lordbound. It's about a valley between Skyrim and High Rock, locked in a war with a Breton lord's military, and tribal Orcs. It's very pretty.

I loved the sky after beating Alduin! I honestly didn't want to leave, just sad I couldn't reenter the Hall after killing Alduin... Make sure you fully explore the Hall and talk to whoever before leaving..

Alduin saved the Dragonborn because he was weakened and can no longer be the world eater so he relied the Dragonborn defeating him so he can return to become the world eater when he returns again
I had this changed to my main menu song, thanks to modders
only problem is it makes the last quest not as epic if you hear the music always in the main menu
For me I got a mod that plays the sovenguarde theme whenever you are in the wilds of skyrim but if you are in dungeons or cities or combat it plays normal music. So my game always plays this anytime I wander skyrim with a few other mods that adds more enemies:)

first encountered Tsun at level 56 mage build with legendary difficulty... I was destruction and alteration majored... scumbag one-shot me for straight two hours... I got really pissed off and role-backed my character... second attempt I was level 49 mage conjuration and illusion majored, my mighty Orchendor and Dremora beat the shit out of Tsun... And I really felt useless dumbass right that moment
yeah destruction is super weak at high levels, unless you use ignite, which stacks and does tons of damage.

So perhaps think about it before writing something, it shows your level of intelligence.
