  • Mahalo to portapedalbike.com/ for their help. This is the Moulton SST Product Description:
    This bike is built on Moulton’s new SST frameset. It is the next generation of the TSR frame.
    Improvements of the SST over the TSR are as follows:
    - Front stirrup dropouts are in stainless steel
    - Stirrup block reduced in height to reduce weight, improve appearance
    - Dual-rate front suspension spring
    - Oversized rear fork pivot bearings - bearing surface increased by 150%
    - Vertical dropouts for rear derailleur in stainless steel - with patented cruciform stiffness plates
    - Round-tapered chain stays to reduce weight and improve aesthetics
    - Lighter rear fork upright tube with new dual-adjustment (height and angle) front derailleur mount
    - Chainstay “X-brace” reinforcement, with adjustable mudguard mount
    - In-line 31.6 mm seat pillar
    The frame-kit weight (frame,fork, seat pillar, headset) is reduced by 250g to c. 4900g. The SST is assembled at “The Hall” in Bradford on Avon.
    The SST-22 is a quick, agile, lightweight bike that’s perfectly suited for fast club rides with all your large-wheeled friends, or outfit it with Moulton’s specially designed front and rear racks along with their large Rear Tour Bag and a set of Carradice Super C Universal front panniers, and you’ll be prepared for everyday commuting or long distance adventure touring.
    The Moulton is perhaps the best riding bike on the road today, no matter what size the wheels, smooth and responsive. This is due, in large part, to the frame’s double suspension system.
    Small wheels don’t ride slower. In fact, they accelerate and turn much quicker than their large diameter brethren which makes these bikes just plain exhilarating to ride!
    Brooks Honey Swallow saddle.
    Shimano 105 53/39 crankset, Nitto Noodle 177, 44cm handlebar, Shimano 10-32t, 11-speed wide range cassette.
    Shimano 105 GS rear derailleur and Shimano 105 front derailleur, Shimano 105 brake/shift levers, Tectro R539 caliper brakes.
    Wheels built with Sun Ringle 406mm CR18 double-wall rims, DT Champion spokes, and Moulton cartridge bearing hubs.
    Extremely wide gear range of 22-98 gear inches; weight 22lbs.

    You must be so happy with this machine. What a bike! People don't know how good Moultons are until they ride them. I have an AM7 I bought in 1984 and still ride it today. And it turns heads everywhere. I was riding home from work on it once and a very cool looking vintage Rolls Royce went past. I thought, "Wow that is very nice." Then about half a mile up the road the Rolls was parked and the driver was standing there looking down the road. And as I went past he yelled out, "Is that a Moulton?" I pulled over and we talked for about 15 minutes and he was in this rare and beautiful Rolls Royce and he was like a kid with a new toy looking at the Moulton and asking me about it.

      For sure. It is amazing how bad it can sound when you try to hard. I make some changes.

    Seriously fit bike ! I'd love to afford one, but I'll have to content myself with building up a neglected 60s "F" version.

    Hi Matt,
    forgot to ask how does the SST climb compared to a normal large wheeled bike, and does it bob up and down too much whether in or out of the saddle?
    Cheers Lawrie

      The weight is in-between a road and MTB. I enjoy the suspension even on climbing. I stay in the saddle most of my climbs and like my a stiffer front suspension, however, it does have some up and down - but not much.

      if you have the front suspension set up hard,it stops the bike bucking around,you do notice the bike moving when you ride it,but you get used to it quickly,they are very comfy.

    How does AMsst22 compare to typical road bike?

    • @Mauirunner
      @Mauirunner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tighter cornering, easy drafting, easy to transport.

    Is it quick enough to do a sportive on the SST??

    • @Mauirunner
      @Mauirunner  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not done one yet but the SST would be great. I would like to get one organized on Maui, going around the whole island (around 170 miles) during summer solstice. Right now I aw working on my climbing time up Haleakala (10,000 feet) and touring around the East side of the island - 99 mile from my house to Kaupo, Hana, and back to Kula.

      I have a tsr 30,weighes about 25ib,i did a 51 mile hilly sportive on it,also rode it in the London to brighton,came back on it too 98 miles,maybe not as fast as a carbon bike up hill,but there not slow.
