Been to a few of these classes and it’s always fun to watch humans at this age yelling answers trying to be the first one to be right. Gotta be the smart one, everybody thought I was smart today, feeling great.
It would be better to undercut the ditch if possible than to triple stack, unless you have brand new boxes that aren’t wobbly it’s really hard to triple stack and keep them straight
My question is if your digger slopes his banks and the box is in the ground youre not supposed to walk down the bank to the box to unhook the cables. The pipe layer is not tall enough to reach the cables to unhook them. You're not supposed to ride in the bucket to unhook the cables you're also not allowed to walk the box to unhook the cables. Are you supposed to move a ladder around in the hole to all 4 cables to unhook them?
drag boxes are more popular in the uk. Flat bottom and a cutting edge and the end. i put the pins in the other way round. so if the pin retaining clip get snagged or broken the pin doesn't fall out and give the pipe layer an sore head.
This was a training session. In real life the trench would either be sloped if they were working on a small section, or the trench would be miles long so that you wouldn't have to keep switching from the bucket to the box. And they would just pull the box along the trench. Probably right that he should have mentioned that, though.

Yep. And yes it sucks but that is the safest way. My guys hate me because i won’t let them walk ontop of the box
Excellent video, thank you!

There's something fascinating about watching pipe crews dealing with a trench shield. It's nice to know the guys down in the hole will be safe.
I have a feeling this guy screams a lot😂
Those who CANT. Teach.
This guy is the Perfect example
I think you misunderstand that maxim. In this case, "He who has earned it doesn't HAVE to do."

The keeper is in your pocket.Does it matter?.
I felt it was all correct except the trench at the open end of each end of the box the trench was not sloped

if there's existing cable crossing? and not allow to divert.
You pull the box and set it on the other side of it
