For the first Monday of June, we decided to check out this Cyclone in La Farge. I've been wanting to hear this particular Cyclone for a while now, as this one is much lower mounted than most other Cyclones, and it does full alert in addition to that. There is also a Federal Type B (which does noon blasts) mounted on the same pole as the Cyclone, as you can see in the wide shot. On our way here, we went through some areas of scattered thunderstorms, but thankfully, there was no rain or lightning in La Farge at test time.
They were a few minutes late with testing, but about 3 or 4 minutes after 11, this beast wound up, and to say this was loud would be an understatement. This was, without question, the loudest omnidirectional siren I've ever heard, both from a distance AND from underneath, and it easily ranks up there as one of the loudest sirens I've ever heard in general! My meter hit around 123 dBC from behind where I was set up (~120 feet away from the pole), and it topped at an astounding 131.4 from underneath, which is the highest reading I've ever gotten from any siren, including stuff at SirenCon! It shook the ground and my whole entire body like crazy; I could even feel it in my head and nose! I did not dare lift off my earmuffs for even a second from underneath, as it was already uncomfortably loud THROUGH earmuffs! Even from 200 feet away, I was still hesitant to take them off fully. Needless to say, this was an absolutely insane experience, and I definitely think any enthusiasts who get the chance should check this out. However, for anyone who does end up checking this out for a test, trust me when I say you're going to want hearing protection.
Before this siren starts up, some other sirens can be faintly heard in the distance, which I'm not 100% sure where they're coming from. The main siren starts at 0:37. Enjoy!

The cyclone is still the loudest siren Ive heard in person. IMO it was louder than sirencons p-50.
Did they not have a safety barrier for the Cyclone at SC? Cause I have no doubt that Cyclones are loud as heck. I just still believe P-50s takes the cake.
@@Siren1000T1 I wasn’t at siren con when they had the cyclone. I have stood underneath two cyclones now and to me, my hearing protection barely worked. But the p-50 at siren con didn’t do that same. Maybe its just me.
@ACAFan101 That one I went to in Bensenville was impressively loud. When I stood under it, I couldn't dare to lift my hearing protection even for half a second. It could also be because with it being omni-directional, the sound stays more focused evenly.
@@Siren1000T1 Thats my thinking too. That omni directional really packs a punch up close.
120 or 125 decibels from 100 ft

Siren was vibrating so much it was drying it's top off if that's what I'm seeing.
