    Hope we get this in Australia - I am sure it will be a 6 speed auto.
    Current car is a C4 Cactus 1.2l Puretech petrol with 6 speed auto - performs really well.
    It has been a great car. The new C3 attracts me with its styling and Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension.

    Whilst I’m a massive EV fan and might well get the e-C3 next, I can see why this petrol version makes a lot of sense for a lot of people, especially if you’re buying one rather than leasing. The price difference to the EV version is massive and unless you’re doing a lot of miles, there’s no way you’re going to make that kind of difference back over 3 or 4years.
    I do 15k ish miles a year and lease, so EV for me as the ‘fuel’ savings are huge (it works out cheaper/the same as the petrol over 3 year), but for most the petrol is the one.

    It's nice that the split fold rear seats are set up for right hand drive so you can load long/wide things through to the front and have one rear passenger. Indian origins the reason for that perhaps but great for the UK and Ireland.

    Great little car but I understand that the pure tech engines like the Ford eco boost are big trouble particularly with the wet belt and heavy oil consumption. I gather they are called purecrap in the trade. All Stellantis group uses this 1.2, shame as it’s an economical engine and good on emissions. But I do love Citroen they have character. They might modify it one day but for now it blights the brands.

    • @HologramJones
      @HologramJones 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      No it's not, from 2022 it uses a timing chain, also the only engine that was affected was the 1.2. The issue also affected other brands using the Dayco wet belt (Ford, VW and many others)

    • @anthonybrown4874

      Best they publicise it then though do they want to admit they offloaded a liability engine on consumers?

    • @HologramJones
      @HologramJones 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@anthonybrown4874 there has been a recall around issued by Dayco and then by Stellantis that if you experience symptoms to go in and change the belt. However, you must have had your services done by Citroen. Reason being that people who have done their services and on time,use the exact same grade of oil which is very important according to Dayco have managed to stave off the issue, however it is still recommended to change to belt. I don't think at first that Stellantis were aware of the issue since they don't manufacture the belt. As for the new timing chain there is a press release somewhere.

    • @anthonybrown4874
      @anthonybrown4874 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @HologramJones For all the owners who are buying used stellantis puretech motors it's impossible to be certain that the correct oil is always used plus in service the contamination by petrol and combustion products may well be outside the parameters first anticipated hence the requirement to halve the belt change as in service experience shows it breaks up clogs up sensitive engine parts and is generally to be avoided either through regular monitoring or really early belt changes at some cost.
      I have observed the belt st 67k on a 5 year old 308 it was in very poor condition and replaced with genuine peugeot parts they may have improved the materials but the principle is unsound using wet belts hence as you inform the move to timing chain.
      Best to just avoid.

      EVs are the alternative choice, not petrol cars.
      If a car has a petrol version, it is the base one. The electric one is for 0.1% of the population, who either have a complete set of extremely specific requirements (house, near a city, solar panels, drives less than 50km a day), or are stupid.

    • @collettjw
      @collettjw 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@April480p Wake up, smell the coffee, read the papers. Citroen has designed the new C3 as an electric vehicle; the petrol & hybrids are alternatives to the main design. You might also want to open your eyes to how many EV’s are being sold. However, the petrol version IS the one for me and will be until manufacturers are able to crack the 400 mile range in a vehicle costing less than £25k - or rapid chargers are provided in every supermarket and village car park. If this has one of the Peugeot 5 speed gearbox engines, they are sheeeeeeet. Extremely loud and NOT frugal. Also no elasticity at all. AND that Peugeot display an UI is the worst. Designed by a fool, with the resolution of about 10 dots per inch.
    If it has none of the above: Great!

    Wow it looks great, and seem to have a lot of visibility. Also like the way they did the speedo
    Edit: oh nevermind it's got the wet belt engine. Pass
    What a shame, it did looked interesting
    Edit 2: didn't do my research. It does have a chain. Absolute gem of a car then I think

    not a great engine, the rubber timing belt breaks down due to its wet belt design. The oil breaks the belt down and the tiny particles of rubber clog up the tiny oilways causing engine premature failure. Changing the timing belt every two years solves this problem along with regular oil changes.

    If it is the puretech engine, mechanics recommend stearing clear of it...terrible reliability.

      They are not bad, do a full belt and clean the oil pump every 20k miles and you'll be alright, people are lazy and don't want to do no maintenance anymore, I prefer to pay 15k for a little car that can be reliable if I spend 1k every 20k miles then spend 30k for a electric crap with low range and that also will be unreliable in 10 years time.

      @@rafaelrafa2765 I have never owned a PSA car basically because I have never met a person who was happy with theirs. Every single person I know with a Citroen or Peugeot only complains about the problems they have with their car. It might be a Spanish thing, but I am yet to find a happy PSA owner.
      There is actually a spanish youtube channel dedicated to highlighting the problems with their cars, especially recently with the puretechs.

    So why is this the best version? Petrol head reviews petrol car and decides it's better than the EV he hasn't driven yet I had a car with this engine ten years ago and now every mechanic with a TH-cam channel says wet belt avoid avoid avoid. To be fair the engine drove well but after coming from a manual I hated the auto, and it was available auto only as well. Today with 2024 traffic, EV is miles ahead.
