    I always assumed that the "generic" store names in Marvel Superhero Island (Arcade, Shop, Comiics, Cafe, etc.) is a nod to how store fronts in silver age comics were always generic like "Bakery" or "Flowers".

    I know it's a bit dated now but Marvel Superhero Island is still a really fun park to visit with a lot of great attractions that still hold up. Avengers Campus, as it is today, just isn't anywhere close to as fun as Marvel Superhero Island is. The Web Slingers ride just seems like Disney trying to sell you stuff while Marvel Superhero Island kind of feels like a celebration of comic books and the characters that we all know and love.

    The island will always be nostalgic for me. I think it will take awhile before Avengers Campus really comes into it's own. In addition, Super Hero Island shows a true Marvel Universe.

      Disney galaxy edge and avengers campus is just a mall with 2-3 attractions and the rest is just stores and thats why harry potter is killing galaxy's edge and island of adventure is killing avengers campus even tho islands of adventures is 22 yrs old plus the new guardians of the galaxy ride that they making is a escape from gringots clone disney has been falling off for while now evwrybody be like nah they not falling off but if they wasnt rhey would've never bought lucas films and marvel and now they copying a universal ride disney has lost thier immigration if walt was still alive disney would've never bought and of those company's and fir damn sure would not be copying a universal ride

    Hey Peter and Kitra! Adam’s full name is Adam Kubert (: he comes back and checks on his designs every so often. He was actually just on a VIP Tour last week!
    A fun Easter egg is the name Max in the Ice Man! HOWEVER, if you look at the smaller ice man in the lemon slush cart by the end of the island (just before Toon Lagoon) you can see many more names ;)

    Also I love that Spider-Man mentioned Avengers Campus. It just makes you forget about all the legal stuff and makes the characters feel like real people. I remember going to Marvel Super Hero Island in 2016 and Captain America told me to go watch Dr Strange cause that was the next MCU film out. And I don't know why but that just made me feel like a little kid again so imagine how it must be for an actual kid.

      @@nicotinecnts The Avengers Campus is located in upstate New York. Yet, Disney Parks has it located in a theme park called CALIFORNIA Adventures. Right off the bat, the theme or location for the land is wrong. And frankly, I find it rather bland in compare to Avengers Island in Orlando.

      @__DY__ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@RPowell43The parks are a part of a separate parallel universe. I think it’s set between the movies so the snap never happened. From what I remember the park story line is that the various campuses around the world are a part of the global Avengers Initiative. They realized that the planet needs more heroes to better defend itself so now they are trying to reach as many people and share their technologies in order to bring about the next generation(s) of heroes. So it’s not in New York.

    • @cc88
      @cc88 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@bluepancake1269 Not really true. The contract Universal has states they own the theme park rights to those characters in Florida. Yes, Marvel must approve of anything Universal does but they have to show just cause for denying an approval. Disney/Marvel can't just say no so that Universal can not update or revamp that area. Just cause would have to be something that could be proven in court that is damaging to the Marvel brand ect. The contract that Universal signed with Marvel is online and you can read through it. Nothing in it changes just because Disney bought out Marvel and is a theme park rival to Universal. If Universal wants to build a brand new Avengers ride in IOA, then by contract they have full rights to do so, and Disney/Marvel can only say no if they can prove in a court of law that Universal's plans are damaging to the Marvel brand or don't fit the characters ect. Now there are some blurry lines where the MCU stuff is concerned where Disney has more say, but Universal really holds the biggest cards with that contract.

    Completely agree with you! Marvel Superhero Island wins in the rides category for sure. Merch goes to Island's. Food/theming goes to Avengers Campus (based off of TH-cam). This was built obviously pre Harry Potter, before Universal really upped their game with immersion, theming, and food. I'd be interested to see what a Marvel land would look like from Universal if built today. Obviously we will never see this lol, but thats why the food and overall theming isn't the best. The theming is based off the '90's comics, not the movies, which gives it a bit of a dated/Six Flags feel. I also don't think they're really allowed to make any significant changes to the land in terms of theming because of Disney. The rides at Islands are awesome though, specifically Hulk and Spiderman.

      If anything, it seems that the food could be the easiest thing to improve upon. Probably wouldn't be difficult to hire some chefs to come up with better food options than what you'd find in a high school cafeteria or the TV dinner freezers at your local supermarket. And only two adult beverages, one of which was Bud Light? I assume the other is regular Budweiser. Again, they could hire some beverage craftsmen to come up with mixed drinks, or even just have more beer choices on tap.

    There is more characters. every few hours they all come out on their bikes and have photo ops all over the area. Also spiderman is wearing a different outfit for that. Cafe 4 was never really a Character dining area. The food has been basic and never has been updated. Hard to compare with a NEW park when they are all super theming everything. Just like how all the new potter stuff is better themed than anything else. Most parks never update their theming on stuff. Also the Hulk was rough before. it was torn down full a few years ago and fully rebuilt with a all new track.

      Haven’t watched the video all the way through (I’m an Orlando native so I already know everything there is to this park), but they do sell comics in the Marvel merch shop at Avengers Campus. As far as a Stan Lee tribute goes, idk if there is one at the Universal park, and as much as there should be, I feel as if we really should be crediting more creators than just Stan Lee when it comes to the creation of the Marvel universe. It's actually surprising how great Super Hero Island compares, especially since it opened like 22 years ago, and Avengers campus is brand new. New Universal park sections have fared much better since then in theming and food so I suspect that stuff would have been better if it weren't still old. Could use a refresh, but I bet they can't stray too far from what they have now, and probably don't want to put much more money into something that basically advertises their rival's property.
    Last time I was at the park a few years ago Hulk was really super smooth. I hear it was bumpy for a while but they did close it for awhile to refirbish it and even replace some track sections to make it smoother.

    I do agree with you on the food and rides in this video. I do like my character meet and greets at Universal studios Orlando. Because of the pandemic they don't have as many characters as they did before. I miss them riding down the street on there 4 wheelers and getting off to get pictures with everyone. And I do think that the Spiderman meet & greet looks cooler that Universal studios. Maybe one day I will get to Disneyland

    I judge a new area at any park based on rides: options and experience. So far, Universal's Marvel World may not be based on the popular MCU but has a greater experience. Personally, even though i live in CA, my vote goes to Universal.

    Adam Kubert is the son of Legendary DC comic book artist, Joe Kubert. Joe had been drawing comics since the 1940's and has been inducted into 2 prestiguous comic book hall of fame's, the Jack Kirby hall of fame and the Will Eisner hall of fame. Adam has worked for both DC and Marvel and has won an Eisner award for best inker on Batman vs Predator back in 1992. His brother Andy is also an amazing comic book artist.

    Marvel Superhero Island all day for me. It's like walking into an actual comic book which is just frozen in time, plus comic books of the 80s-90s are cooler than the modern comics tbh. Avengers Campus I never been to because FL resident. But it seems more MCU based which is kinda bit cool but Superhero Island is and always will be cool in my book!

    They're vastly different, different enough to the point I'd say that both Super Hero Island and Avengers Campus can really coexist without significant conflict.
    Super Hero Island is like you stepped back into the golden age of comics, Avengers Campus is more like the world of the movies.
    From what I've seen of Avengers Campus, I'm going to have to say I prefer Super Hero Island. The fact that the entire land is built based on that classic comic style. It sets it apart from the admittedly more generic look of Avengers Campus. This isn't helped by the fact that Web Slingers is quite inferior compared to the Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

    I didn't even know that this exists! I was wondering why Disney didn't use the actual comic themes, but now I know. The drawn comics is where this all come from, and they still are the most loved within many. This looks great, but I'm still hoping that Disney and Universal could negotiate somehow a sharing agreement on the use license.
