Knex has always done amazing Roller Coaster sets, I like Lego too ... But in all Honesty Lego has some pretty ballsy prices, $90 for a coaster set ... Nah I'm good.
This is why that knex is always been my childhood and what makes it awesome is that they have there owned vr app and that what makes it awsome when you can ride on the knex rollorcoaster and thats why i love knex
Knex has always done roller coasters well. I don't like to free build with them as much, but some of their sets are very fun. I love any building toy, but lego is king.
I have both Lego Rollercoasters you talked about. I love them both, but since I grew up in the 80's I might have to get the PAC man set. It's really cool and that price is awesome.
I always liked knex when I was younger. Since you could build machines and weapons. With the original block Legos, those types of builds were next to impossible. But when Lego technic came out, I bought a bunch of sets for my son and realized the options with technic Legos are limitless, and kinda left knex in the dust. They’re both great building platforms, it just depends on what you want to build
From what you've showed, I feel like Knex puts more emphasis on motion and affordability then look; Lego, on the other side, offers plenty of room for customization, hence the hefty price.
I use to be obsessed with Knex and the displays were always amazing cause they functioned. That said I think Knex might be falling on hard times and needs to move product.
And knex rods are completely compatible with Lego technic bricks so you can use lego technic and classic lego and knex together to make something even bigger and better
I long time ago I got a Knex rollercoaster, and it look like so much fun, but I could never build it because it was to hard for me at the time. A while later I finished building it and it was really cool and awesome!
Regular Knex always competed more with LEGO Technic in my mind, they have a more similar style. Knex is awesome at high volume structures and mechanical things, the roller coasters and even their other theme park ride kits are great.
I grew up with Meccano erector sets and Knex is similar in comparison. Legos downside is that it is too heavily themed. The parts are more customized for the individual projects they are sold for. Knex have cardboard cutouts for theming and less than a half dozen themed plastic pieces, but most of the parts are general stock. For combining sets into bigger projects, Knex takes the lead. Legos have a more solid feel and Knex feels flimsy in comparison, but the structure weight to size ratio make Knex more manageable. Note that Knex has now made some lego compatible blocks that allow Knex and lego integration.
they are very similar while being different at the same time. ive seen countless instructionless builds on lego and just look at how big and great knex fans can make knex coasters.
You get alot more with knex then Lego. Like for a Lego coaster about as big as the knex. It's like 230 dollars or 300 dollars. Knex is better for coasters and overall price
A non-motorized within the prize kiddie coaster for $90, versus a cool graphic design, pac man set up and motor included, for $30. That set has a lot of nerve. Even CDX blocks has better coaster models than lego (cyclone wooden style and now sidewinder). I mean, do I want the full-size lego set? Yeah. Am I going to pay that much, it's crazy. K'nex track is also way more customizable. The lego track is a bit too standard, only so much you can do. However they are really late in the game with how long k'nex has been making sets of rides and coasters since like 1998 (and there are older ones just in the 50+build boxes/kits or whatever, I built a sky wheel out of one of those). Personally I think they should try an aim for the middle-drop the 20 billion parts/pieces with no motor and include it and get one out in the $150-200 range. $75-90 for a kid's coaster or $275+ for a thrill coaster...doesn't thrill me.
OneAndOnlySound Many good points. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lego redesign there coaster track in the next 5 years as there’s so much room for improvement.
K’NEX and LEGO pretty much tie, depending on what still creations, machines or robots you want to build. In my opinion, K’NEX is BETTER for building massive model rollercoasters, since it uses less complicated pieces than what you do if you try to build a LEGO roller coaster, and the size will still turn out more impressive than if you were to build any sized model roller coaster out of LEGO. LEGO, is more suited for Model Trains and Railroads or building City Models or replicas, since the various colors and looks of the bricks can more accurately replicate the look of the actual building IRL, as well as the train itself modeled after the actual life sized one. And LEGO has more choices for whatever building aesthetic you are going for, since there are a wider array of colors with LEGO bricks than with K’NEX pieces, so it has a lot more selection in terms of what look or style you’re trying to go for with your creation, basically form over function. K’NEX is basically the exact opposite, and mostly puts functionality, structure strength and simplicity FIRST AND FOREMOST over visual aesthetics, unless you’re building with LEGO Technic pieces and no bricks. But still, LEGO Technic STILL DOESN’T EVEN COME CLOSE to all the impressive and versatile creations you can build with K’NEX pieces. From Large Model Roller Coasters, to Large Robots to Large Structures, K’NEX is the better option for build very large and very strong structures with less complexity if you don’t value visual aesthetics in the creation as much and prefer more versatility, simplicity and strength in a larger creation. I know K’NEX offers building bricks like LEGO as well, but the main purpose of K’NEX since they were first founded in the 90’s was to make building large structures and rollers coasters easier without any complex connection of building pieces and construction. And even a lot more budget K’NEX sets come with a motor in the box than with LEGO, just like you said. But still, don’t let that stop you people from giving LEGO a try. LEGO has since been A MUCH BIGGER and MUCH OLDER BRAND than K’NEX, even if K’NEX is also a pretty big brand and also LEGO’s competitor. And because of that, LEGO creators have A LOT more experience, since they started playing with LEGO longer and what people have when they first played with K’NEX, and LEGO creators came up with their own unique designs and ideas for large and complex structures with LEGO. They’ve built a Model city, and even built LARGE MODEL REPLICAS of iconic structures like the Statue of Liberty, the Taj Mahal, The Golden Gate Bridge, The Eiffel Tower, and SO MUCH MORE!! And they even built some of THE MOST COMPLEX LEGO Robots using Mindstorms and Technic pieces with Power Function K’NEX and LEGO pretty much tie, depending on what still creations, machines or robots you want to build. They’ve made Rubics Cube Solvers, Vending Machines, Segway Robots, and Arcade Machines using LEGO Mindstorms!! Try doing that with K’NEX Robotics Sets!! With K’NEX, you can only build Robotic Creatures like Humanoids, Robotic Dinosaurs, and other Robotic Animals, which the only impressive thing that you can do with them is building them big! But they cannot accomplish as much tasks as with what a LEGO Robot can do. LEGO Robotics are MUCH MORE ADVANCED with more advanced sensors, motors, add-ons and CPUs, than with K’NEX. LEGO motors in general (including the basic Power Functions) are WAY MORE FASTER and MORE POWERFUL than K’NEX motors for RC Vehicles and Model Trains. And you can adjust the speed, unlike most K’NEX motors aside from the old Cyber K’NEX Robotics Sets from the Early 2000’s and Probably even the newer K’NEX Education Robotics. But still, LEGO Robotic Creations still continue to AMAZE People and everyone knows that!! So LEGO also excelles when it comes to Robotic and Functional/Mechanical Creations, even though K’NEX can be quite OK as well.
My kid has this coaster and after a few days of using it pac-kman can'tgo up the second loop no matter whay I do, it is very fun and I would not like to have to abandon it, I check the wheels and the track everything looks good. Has anyone experienced this?
Yes. Lubrication. All of the micro K'nex coaster sets I've built end up not working well enough to complete their cycle after a few days or weeks. The track and little bearings in the tires of those micro cars collect dust fairly quickly so make sure they're clean and clear. What I do to make it work better is add a small amount (one or two drops) of lube on the tires. I collect Rubik's cubes and similar twisty puzzles, so I just used to lube I got with those. Baby oil, similar to what comes with hair clippers, would work great as well. You could even put some vegetable oil on your fingers and run them along the tracking, too. All of these options would help eliminate a lot of the friction that causes the car to lose its speed/momentum. After doing this, the ride should be able to make it completely around the track again. If you have any additional pieces on hand, adding more support framing, especially around those loops, will help the track pieces to stay in shape and where they're meant to be. If not, you could instead try moving/rotating the track pieces around to different locations so that any bent parts regain the original resistance the track had at any certain location. These new micro pieces are insanely small, easy to lose, and lack the rigidity necessary for any structural build of decent size and regular use. I definitely prefer their classic pieces because they are sturdier, but getting enough pieces to build something of decent size can quickly add up in price. I built a grandfather clock over 7ft tall with a swinging pendulum, having a total piece count near 10,000 and a total cost of $500+.
The knex set is worth 30 bucks but the lego set is great as well , in my opinion.

If you at any point want to get into K'Nex, please don't ever buy their new sets. The quality is horrible, the parts you get for the price you pay is a fraction of what it used to be, they usually don't run correctly, and they overcharge for the original sized parts that used to be standard. The best place to buy is on eBay. Sets to look for are Big Ball Factory, which can be picked up in amazing shape for $100, 1994 Roller Coaster (63030) Trampoline Tower and Hyperspace Training Tower. K'Nex retailed these for under $100 when they were released, and have started re-releasing them for $300 which is ridiculous. Anyways, just found this, thought I'd give advice and I hope to see more K'Nex content sometime
LEGO has so many excellent things about it, but Knex is much better at roller coasters. That is, in my opinion, the main use for knex. In addition, knex are easier to disassemble and make your own coasters, because there are less types of pieces. Lego overall has more uses, but coasters are not one of them.
Lego: Pros: Good Quality More Customizable Easy to build Colorfull Can use for technics for sturdier design Cons: Expensive Breaks easily (when built) except when uses Technics
ive always seen it as if your into structural building get lego if your into engineering style builds get knex yes lego with technic can do engineering style builds but knex works better expecially with its beam style construction and its chains and wheels and pullys lego meanwhile excells on modeling houses space ships boats ect knex can maybe sorta do this but not really although i will admit knex really really let off the gas and dropped the ball on the mechanized contraptions front by not going down a similar avenue as mindstorms they did get sorta close with the Knex robot kit but never really went much further with the concept

@@bdsbrickbin6929 From what I found on the internet; LEGO plastic is 99% ABS and 1% something else (color and ?), the one 1% is where the magic happens. Also, LEGO is shiny :) bricks.stackexchange.com/questions/2128/how-is-the-lego-plastic-different-from-megablok-plastic

I agree with you on the Knex vs LEGO topic. I feel like there are way more opportunities with building, but that price is really good on the Knex set.
brickitect The price to cool and fun factor was great😃
I find after this video that Knox prices are more reasonable then Lego's prices now and days
I love you brickitect

love both but lego i cant afford, and with knex i think you get a better bng for your buck, and they both hold a very special place in my heart
With knex, you can do anything that lego can, its just harder. you can also do bigger stuff with knex. check out some of the knex ball machines.
i like K'nex more than lego because it give a lot more freedom in your builds.
not to mention, you can't make coasters like there from spare parts with lego: th-cam.com/video/fvOWpXg90bM/w-d-xo.html

I'm a big fan of knex and I'd definitely say knex are better! Not to mention it comes with a motor Lego doesn't
just don't look at the adult sets for knex as they can get very expensive but come out massive.
I grew up on legos but towards 14 and up I switch to Knex I say both are good

Lego:
Pros:
Good Quality
More Customizable
Easy to build

Can use for technics for sturdier design
Cons:
Expensive
Breaks easily (when built) except when uses Technics

K'nex always had the best roller coaster systems! For pretty much anything else tho, Lego all the way.
ive always seen it as if your into structural building get lego
if your into engineering style builds get knex
yes lego with technic can do engineering style builds but knex works better expecially with its beam style construction and its chains and wheels and pullys
lego meanwhile excells on modeling houses space ships boats ect knex can maybe sorta do this but not really
although i will admit knex really really let off the gas and dropped the ball on the mechanized contraptions front by not going down a similar avenue as mindstorms

Knex and lego are compatible
The kenext set will only last a 2 months to a year before breaking.
The lego will last 200+ years before breaking!
Quality over quantity
If you look at some other k'nex they are better than this one for example they have a light up car and an air powered car too.
Jennifer Langlass I’ll have to check those out!
I am so for the Knex team! I love lego but fuck yea knex!!!

Lego is nothing on knex everyone is lying to themselves
Yeah the LEGO one looks so bland compared to the Knex one.
Whos here from greg renko
You play with the KNEX and I take the LEGO one, okay?
I had some KNEX parts in a LEGO collection I bought 2nd hand and the plastic just feels cheap, just like Mega Blocks, the quality is just lower.
Sounds a little unbalanced😂 but I have to say that these pieces felt just as good as Lego as far as ABS plastic goes
@@bdsbrickbin6929 From what I found on the internet; LEGO plastic is 99% ABS and 1% something else (color and ?), the one 1% is where the magic happens. Also, LEGO is shiny :) bricks.stackexchange.com/questions/2128/how-is-the-lego-plastic-different-from-megablok-plastic
@@erwinstechnicworkshop108 sorry, I was referring to the Technic pieces. I can definitely see the 1% in the mega bloks compared to lego... not a mega bloks fan. Perhaps the 1% is color and... love? haha
LEGO WINSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes knex is better
LEGO!!!!!!
Man in comparison the LEGO one is so blaah.
Lego kills knex but in coasters and things knex specializes in knex does better
knex is better
