Johnny Gill is another example of a voice that no one else duplicate. Boys to Men proves that deeply. That song is better than alot of songs that came out way after its time. Its stil sounds real good to me. Brings back alot of memories... NE die hard fan 4 life...
I don't think Ralph ever said that his voice was better than Johnny! I thought he gave him his accolades in fact Ralph said he learns from Johnny. What I love about NE each singing member has their own style & blend well together,. From this interview Ralph or no one is competing against Johnny. Everyone in the group is awesome.
Funny how they mirrored the Temptations almost perfectly. They get rid of Bobby (David Ruffin) and bring in Johnny (Dennis Edwards) which which matured their sound, gave them a much different flavor and also gave them the accolades and recognition they deserve.
