Kayodleman,. Keep it up brother! Appreciate you finding and posting videos of John and and The Wolf. I'm in my 60's and your keeping my favorite band of all time alive and showing new material I've never seen before 👍. Thank you!
Man Bobby is just wailin' on "Magic carpet ride" and John with some really intricate slide work on it too. I loved that huge Wolf logo that they had, super cool! And you notice at the end they show a still photo of each member except Goldy, he was left go shortly after this show and was replaced with Andy Chapin.
I never knew they performed in 1974 . There is a great film of the 1970 Randall's Island show that has Hendrix , Mountain and Steppenwolf . Its worth checking out .
I saw this the night it aired on ABC , the screen had gone black and I thought they were having technical difficulties ( remember them ) , when you could just hear this wolf howling in the distance and getting closer . Then a single spotlight lit up the new Steppenwolf sign hanging over the stage and they broke into Born To Be Wild , it's the only time I've ever heard BTBW open one of their performances. This video didn't capture the first few minutes of the show . Not complaining, just very glad for what we have here .
'74 Oak Brook, IL w/ Canned Heat and Rush playing rather than Quicksilver who was on the bill. '74 Chicago's Arie Crown Theater with either Trapeze or Caravan. Oak Brook show was a wild rockin' event. Chicago show had such great sound it was like listening your home stereo. Loved both shows.
KAYODLMAN, Do you have a good quality sound board audio mix of steppenwolf live Don Kirshners DKRC concert 1974? or any other live steppenwolf from the slowflux album era 1974 playing the same song list?
@@Kayodleman, I know same here I been looking for many years now. I wonder why steppenwolf doesn't have a good quality live concert in 1974 with this song setlist
@@billwilliams6338 They had a film crew covering their concert at the Royal Albert Hall with Larry Byrom and George Biondo. Heard good footage exists but the people with it won't (or can't) share it.
@@Kayodleman I just knew someone HAD to have filmed that show, I'd love to see that one! That's the one where Larry Byrom passed out from the heat at the end of Born to be Wild!
@@daveandpentarnowski4517 Yes, those were the openers when I saw them. I saw them again a couple of months later and either Trapeze or Caravan opened. I believe Rush was filling in for Quicksilver.
@@MellodyKrieger yeah!... at the Arie Crown Theater, right? I remember John hit a note playing slide WAAY up the neck, and my ear plugged up for three days!

Bobby is great
Should be in RRHOF.
Bobby Cochran was the same
age as Jerry.
Love steppenwolf. And this concert is awdome. But whats up with john kay's outfit? Looks like some outetspace renaissance klingoln
I know it was 74,but those outfits...... there was no need!
Bobby is playing a Gibson
Les Paul.
Bobby Cochran is the nephew of Eddie Cochran.

No, never found one back in the day or since.

I seen them during this tour and was wondering what band played before them......does anyone remember who played the warm up band before them?
Well, if that's the same tour i saw them on (no gaurantees!), it was Canned Heat and a then-unknown Rush.
Different cities, different opening acts on this tour. The Earl Scruggs Review opened for them on some shows.

Those outfits they wore on the Slow Flux tour looked ridiculous, especially that hood John Kay is wearing.
Was John using a radio mic back in 74.?
Yes.
why are they dressed like Disco Balls?
Not my favorite MCR edition. Liked the live album version better.
