    Thanks Lisa....There are so many different makes of strings it's difficult to decide. I appreciate your advice.

    I'm so glad I came upon your video just now. I am about to change the strings on one or both of my ukuleles, and I had already decided on the Oasis warm high-g's, as my favorite sounding. I was for sure going to try them on my Oscar Schmidt OU-5 Concert ukulele, which is a bit "thick" sounding, as I guess you sometimes find with ukuleles made by guitar makers. I want to brighten the sound a bit and I think they might do it (note that I have not finished your video yet!). I had not planned on changing the strings on my aNueNue Color series (Black Beauty!) Soprano, which has their own strings in something seeminly similar to these Oasis strings. But because of the very same lack of "ring" or sustain on that very first "C" that you played around 2:15, that's what got me looking, and I detected that especially the first string is definitely worn on the fret side. So I'll probably try the Oasis on both, and will try to remember to post the results!

      If you like a bright sound, try the Aquila Red. I have been hooked on those now. They might wear out a bit faster than other strings but they have fabulous sustain and a crisp attack.

    Thanks for tutorial/review, Lisa. I really love my open-fret ukes but when it comes to re-stringing, they make me nervous. I have 3 Enya Novas which are super easy to replace strings on. I've never tried Aquila Reds but I'll be they look awesome! I'm a big fan of Worth Browns or Clears. They sound wonderful on my Enya Novas!

      It was a Worth clear that shorted me on the length. Hopefully you haven't encountered that.

    Thanks for the video. Oasis warm - low G unwound will probably be my next purchase. About to restring with the Aquila Sugars - "Squeakless" and was curious if you've tried those.

      I haven't done the Aquila Sugars. I have the Aquila Reds with a low G and like them a lot. Not squeakless. I kinda like the squeak.

    I saw this brand when purchasing for my most recent string change, I just wasnt sure so I ended up with Martin floracarbon.....I'm really liking the Martins so far but I might try oasis or aquila reds next time...thanks for your review...very helpful!!

      Good choice! I used Martin strings for quite a few years. But I did a bulk purchase for a class and every pack had the E and G strings mislabeled. Martin never got back with me on that.

    Hi beautiful 😘Lisa♥️
    Would you recommend the same brand of strings for say 8,6,5 Ukuleles?🙏👍

    • @TheUkuleleFool
      @TheUkuleleFool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you find a type of string you love, than yes. If you are still dialing in your preferences, like I am, it is fun to experiment. I always recommend that folks try a low G. In my ideal world I have two fabulous instruments with a high quality sound for both acoustic and electric. One with a low G and the other in reentrant tuning. #Lanakai are you listening???

    I love that you have a deterministic way to check for string wear. It's strange though that they go sharp. I would have thought they'd get flabby and flat. I tend to like the softer warmer strings like these Oasis. The nylgut felt super stiff, like a German car.

    Oasis are my go-to strings on my Islander ukulele, but I have never had a problem with buzzing. That is interesting. I am not sure what would cause that. I hope they work out for you!
    Scott.

    • @TheUkuleleFool
      @TheUkuleleFool  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The buzz is due to my fingers. The strings don't respond the same way, and I believe that I am slipping a little to side of the fretboard. I'll dial my technique in for these strings and it will be fine.

      @@TheUkuleleFool Awesome! I really like Oasis strings. I don't think Uke Republic carries them anymore, though. Have you ever made a purchase through Strings by Mail? It is a fantastic place to get ukulele strings and they have an amazing selection with very affordable shipping rates. It is my favorite place to get strings and they get them to Georgia in just a few days.

    I'm horrible, I usually play them until one breaks.

    • @TheUkuleleFool

      Wow! I have never had a string break. I did play for almost 2 years before I did my first string change. I was working on scales in 6th and the tuning was driving me nuts.
