Back in the 1970's when I was around 10 years old, I used to fish on a dock at Skaggs Island while my dad was working at the CPO club when the base was open. Big Stripers back then and I was just a kid. Fun stuff.
@@LarryThomas-e1c Back when my dad worked the front gate of Skaggs in the early 80’s we would rent a boat on Mare Island & launch on the back side of Skaggs. I remember always marveling at the dinosaur cage as we drove by to the launch. Caught plenty of big stripers back then & still do today in that area.
@@BigShticks I was interested in knowing if the big stripers were still there, it sure looks like it. Thank you for the response and the awesome video.
Great video, bro! Learned all my lure fishing from watching all your videos. Biggest thanks to you! As for the latest on napa, got these two 26 inchers with in 5 minutes of fishing yesterday. Big thanks again bro!
@@eugenemendoza2977 Right on brotha! Glad to hear you’re enjoying success out there. I always enjoy our conversations when we cross paths. Till next time, tight lines!
I'll probably be taking my yak out there sometime. Been checking out the back sloughs in "The Field" because it's basically my backyard, but this area just looks more open... and you killed it! Good stuff with the limits. Fish on Pare.
@@NorCalFishermen It’s simply the fastest way for me to get on & off the water, while simultaneously giving me access to more “fishy”areas not afforded by way of the bank. Thanks for stopping by brotha!
@BigShticks nice! One day i wanted to launch there i just got my cheap kayak and wanted to try that area for kayak fishing going to wetlands. Do you think an anchor is needed in that area current wise?
@@chocotoynk2931 If you’re out on the main river & want to stay stationary I’d say yes. However, I’ve only ever used an anchor while fishing sturgeon on the kayak. Because my kayaks are pedal powered. I do have the ability to stay appropriately positioned in slow to medium current when casting for striper with lures. Or I’ll move to an area with little to no current that is adjacent to swift moving current. This allows me to fish for prolonged periods of time without needing to constantly reposition.

Do you still have the Compass? I’m considering purchasing one. Would you recommend it?

Yes & yes
I missed that pg&e tower i wonder if the forbidden gate still open for public 😂
@@chocotoynk2931
😂 it was never truly open to the public…all the Lolo’s kept cutting it open. The fence up now is undefeated!
@BigShticks i love all the lolo's there as they always drink while fishing. Can you still launch your kayak in that spot?

I still launch there all the time.
