➡️ Why is the Bundelkhand Festival Being Held?
To celebrate the cultural uniqueness and showcase its tourism destinations, the state government started the 16-day Bundelkhand Gaurav Mahotsav on Tuesday. It will include a series of events in seven districts of the region infamous for its backwardness and poverty.
Tourists will be given information about the historical, religious and mythological places in all the districts of Bundelkhand. The Mahotsav will promote tourism and also generate employment at the local level. Tourism, in turn, will play an important role in removing the backwardness of the region.
Bundelkhand is famous for its glorious history, cultural heritage, historical buildings and natural beauty. Every district has its own identity, dress, food and cultural diversity.
➡️ What Does This Festival Include?
During the 16-day Mahotsav, various programmes and heritage walks will be organized in Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chitrakoot and Banda districts. The programmes started from Jhansi Fort on January 23 and will end at Kalinjar Fort in Banda district on February 18, as per the minister.
The festival began in Jhansi, where tourists can explore the rich history of Bundelkhand's forts through heritage walks, enjoy city views from a hot air balloon and take part in boat rides and kayaking.
The itinerary also includes yoga, cultural programmes, green fireworks, and a laser show. The evening saw a performance by the musical band Euphoria. Sharing details about the heritage walk, officials said it will highlight Bundelkhand's valour, particularly focusing on the legendary tales of Aalha-Udal, believed to inspire soldiers heading to the European war.
In Jhansi, the walk includes visiting Baruasagar Fort, known as the summer palace of Rani Lakshmibai. In Lalitpur, one can explore the Dashavatara temple in Devgarh dating back to the Gupta period. Jalaun Walk covers the history of Kalpi and Rampura Forts that stood witness to the 1857 revolution. Hamirpur features Sarila Fort and Ram Janaki temple.
Mahoba walk reveals Rahelia Sun temple's history, older than Konark's, with visits to Khakhara Monastery and Jain caves. Chitrakoot explores the history of Kalinjar Fort, and Banda boasts of the renowned Neelkanth temple.
➡️ Entry Fee and Other Details
The festival is free of cost and includes lots of fun activities such as morning yoga, heritage walks, water sports, musical performances, and a hot air balloon ride in a tethered balloon.
Each day, there will be a new band performing for the crowd. Jhansi saw three amazing bands - Euphoria, Kabir Cafe, and Agnee.
For a tethered hot air balloon ride, you simply need to wait in line for your turn.

Abhi toh sirf media and government walo ke liye hai yeh wali balloon ride, agle saal se baaki logo ke liye open karenge :) abhi ke liye par aap hot air balloon mein jaake baith sakte hain for 5-10 minutes, vo free of cost hai
