I remember body surfing this place back in the seventies with my brother, and we had it all to ourselves. Population is everywhere now. But I am glad to see people out there living life, as there is only one, and it should be directly involved in nature as thusly thrusted to the surf! Great video, well shot!

This Pipeline wave is perfect. Beautiful, big, fast and deep in the right measure for people to enjoy just in the drop, without the need for a jetsky. Classic Surf!!!
Is it just me or does it annoy anybody else that the one guy in the white and blue boardshorts dropped in on *multiple* people? I mean I understand the crwods sometimes make the lineup situation a little unclear but its literally the same guy almost every time lol
thanks so much. been watching wipe out videos for a while now. i dont really plan to surf big time like this, actually to learn how to swim would be a great first step but i never had that drive before until i experienced riding the board, and it felt great. to think that i was just on my stomach the whole time. but i sure pray i could do those big waves someday. thanks again!

This is the best pipe footage - And When I was a kid - pipeline was THE Mecca tube...but nowadays it looks like a kiddies friendly little wave pool beside the likes of Teahupoo and a thousand other places discovered since the 70s and 80s. They are in Another universe.
Pipeline is such an amazing wave. It breaks hard and fast and close to shore. The beach in front is also amazing. The sand is clean and coarse. Almost like rice size grains. You can rub it on yourself and just brush it off.
I've been surfing on the North Shore since '89-90....and those crowds are exactly why I don't bother with Pipe...Props to Da Hui and their Wolfpack brothers for regulating and serving up justice to those who get in the way and endanger everyone out there. Keep it clean and when in doubt, don't paddle out.
WOW! those waves looks spectacular! I haven't been surfing but I've really been meaning to give it a try! Hawaii is really an incredible place! A friend told me about Kauai Vacation Rentals..I think it's about time to let them help me plan a trip!

Thank god for secret spots!!! Born and raised here on oahu,and would never deal with such a crowd.We used to dig holes in the sand night before,sleep with board ontop ,then first hint of light,on it.Mostly Rocky point though!!shootz
@cavmusicnyc : right of way goes to the person on the inside, taking off deeper gets you the right of way, plenty do it (drop in on you) anyway, claiming to not see you, or worse yet, on purpose because of some supposed pecking order or local rights. amazing vid, really shows what it is like in a lineup

Most places the surf is much farther off shore. Pipeline is unique. And the non surfer is clueless to how dangerous the razor sharp hard coral reef is that is lying a few feet below the surface ready to cut your body to shreds, break your bones and kill you. The sand is so clean also. You can rub it on your body and it falls off like pebbles.
