The evangelical community is shocking but I must say I love this whole project, the power in comprehending what this ancient culture is trying to present to us in their view and time. Cultural relativism is something as a human I’ve lacked in my daily life let alone reading texts written by and for ancient cultures. I pray for guidance, understanding, and the softest heart when approaching these words
“Subdue my backyard” is something that actually happened to my family and I. We had just moved into a new house and the previous owner, because she was grieving her husband, had let the backyard get out of control. The very center was a mass of weeds and flowers several feet high, like a chunk of wild prairie had taken over the yard. It took several months to subdue it and turn the backyard into a beautiful place to host family gatherings.
yes, just like our new nature in Christ; we work to control the weeds, the old nature before Christ; and it's continual work to keep it as a place that gives our soul rest and peace in the same as your backyard gives physical rest. Beautiful lessons the Spirit teaches us. Have a blessed day.

Verse actually says man was made in the shadow of God. Meaning we are a restriction of God. Without this shadow there would be no room for man. God withdrew His unveiled presence to create the vessel of our existence. Because of the closeness of of the word shadow and imagine kabbalistically we can use the idea of 'equivalency of form' to gain further understanding to the nature of this shadow. The reason this word was translated to "image" in the Septuagint was because of this understanding passed down in The Oral Torah which the 70 wanted to forefront this understanding when they were forced to hand a transition over....just like the first of the 10 Commandments where God just state's His sovereign title and say's nothing else...the ”have no other god's..." is just be understood in that decoloration and was passed down through The Oral Torah.

It started off by identifying the biblical inferences to roles of historical kings and emperors as gods whose words brought creation into existence like god. Strangely it didn’t maintain that bit of revelation instead deviated into the infusion of divinity in humans and its empowerment as rulers but denying god likeness or attempting to be god, which is the essence of sin, as a result. There is much acquired knowledge but no revelation of what the “image” means which explained the disconnection and illogicality in the narrative. Finally it led to the devolvement of the kingdom of god to domesticated rulers in people. Mat 25:12 But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.
I agree. Biblical Prophecy tells us that we are living in the final days. It's not safe anywhere at all times. Evil is at its worst. Yet God is Almighty, and His people must stand up for righteousness.🙏🛡️

These things have always happened, and so we must always be alert for Christ's coming... Not just looking for the sign and then trying to get our acts together, as if we were cramming for an exam.
I agree with your characterization of subduing, I would however take that a step further in saying that part of what initially made the earth "tohu wabohu" is that evil elohim such as the satan existed upon it, and through mankind's existence "the visible image of the invisible God..." (Col. 1:15) would come and SUBDUE the evil elohim "bind the strong man" and "plunder his goods" (Matt 12:29) by His death and resurrection. Thus Christ the ultimate Human, God in a Bod would subdue the earth and conquer Satan's territory which is the earth itself, and the human race in slavery to sin and death, and first He has subdued us by freeing us from that slavery by His death and resurrection, but He is also going to come and completely finish the subduing of the earth. Also in Genesis 2 it doesn't appear at all in either the Hebrew or the English that animals were made after humans, it looks as though God already recognizes Adam's need, so He has Adam NAME the animals to awaken ADAM'S recognition of his own need, and in that he sees that he does not have a companion of his own. I would have to disagree with your interpretation of God's breath in Genesis 2 as being related to our ability to reason and our higher intellectual abilities. If you read that point in context, it says that only after we had received the breath of God were we "living souls." To LIVE in John 17, Jesus says is to KNOW the One true God and Jesus Christ Whom He has sent. God promises man that when he eats of the fruit, He will "surely die" so it seems that the BREATH of God is His own Holy Spirit which He gave to us to live and function and be in co-dependent relationship and even PARTNERSHIP with God. However when we ATE the fruit, we REJECTED God's diving life, and became DEAD to God, and fell into slavery to sin and death. I would say that there is no reason that only because of the surrounding context of subduing and being fruitful and multiplying, the image of God cannot ALSO refer to our reasoning and intelligence.
Also, the ULTIMATE Holy Icon and graven Image of God that we walk past with reverence is of course God's graven Image Himself, Jesus Christ, Who came to restore the Spirit of God within us, by fulfilling the old Covenant, and putting us under the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (Romans 8).

It’s seems like their biggest flaw is that it doesn’t align neatly with western evangelical conservatism. Apparently a Godly understanding of justice and righteousness is woke these days. I don’t think God roasts people for being “woke”. Calling everything you don’t understand a like a hell hole is helping no one. Our faith isn’t a team sport.
