    I love how they ask college professors about the problem instead of asking the people who know: K-12 educators. SMH

      K-12 is where the foundation of learning HISTORY is very important.....seems like the educators have dropped the ball since the 1990s teaching Western Civics.......Hmmm......lol

      It’s because the American media and government consider K-12 education to be small potatoes when compared to college.

    As a history buff, one who excels in the subject since high school and having a bachelors degree in the subject, this is definitely disappointing. Perhaps the Department of Education or some school should hire a person with autism who specializes in this to fix this.

    History helps teach critical thinking skills and reading skills. I am about to graduate college with a degree in political science. Since I was in high school, I have always thought about becoming a teacher and teaching history or civics. Prior to the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. I wrote a research paper on Russian political interference in elections in neighboring former soviet republics. I loved studying the field of International Relations. The field I studied the most was the politics of Eastern Europe and history of Eastern Europe.

      The problem of lowering the standards in coursework is reflected in the low level of your bigoted statement. Teachers do NOT spend time lecturing or leading any discussions on gender or identity. You are repeating the nonsense from FOX. I dare you to show us ONE just ONE history, science, math, or English teacher who has spent 10 seconds on sex ed. NEVER EVER. Prove it with evidence. Show us.

    It's not just 8th graders. Ask many young adult Americans simple analytical questions and they cannot answer them correctly.
    Ask them what they want to to do in the future and they struggle to give a clear answer as well.

    As a 40 year teacher of U.S. History at the High School level I am so very sickened by this. I retired in 2015 and with all that has happened, Social Media, Culture War Issues, Disinformation, Pandemic, I am not surprised but I am Sickened. I often had a theory in my teaching years. One third of my students would learn, one third of my students would struggle but learn and one third of my students would never learn. Well that could explain the MAGA cult that will never learn.

    The irony is that the adult speaker in this video says that "our democracy is at stake..." ummm, news flash to the lady speaker... our country is not a democracy. It is a constitutional republic. Obviously the adults don't know any history either.

    • @silencedogood7297
      @silencedogood7297 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a republic, yes, but requires democratic action by the entire populace, not just the elected reps. An illiterate population cannot by definition make informed choices when voting. So - you are right and you are wrong. Do your homework.

    • @silencedogood7297

      Yes, because 30 years ago when I was teaching the parents actually cared what happened in the classroom and did not put their tv on 24 hours a day to babysit. And 30 years ago we did not have public displays of so many neo-nazis, white nationalists and christian zealots who preach hatred an violence. We spoke of a "melting pot", not a volcano to toss migrants into. We were woke. We were better.

    Even at this low scores, kids pf today are gonna be smarter than current adults between 22 to 90 years old

      Your statement speaks for itself. You failed to use punctuation correctly. You failed to use big words instead of playground name-calling. You used the low-class "gonna" instead of "going to" . You use "this" instead of "these" to modify low scores. You provide no proof or evidence to even one of your claims. You denigrated elders who have earned many more graduate degrees than any other generation. Wow. Every teacher is laughing at you at this moment.

    • @silencedogood7297
      @silencedogood7297 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the 3 months off were NEVER for the teachers. The history books written by true expert and the actual documents in cities, states, and the US dept of Education show clearly that summer was set aside for kids working on farms - not for teachers and certainly not for kids to watch endless violent video games. While I was a teacher, I had no vacation. All summer I planned lessons for the year, attended post-graduate classes to be current in my subjects and obtained materials at my own expense for YOUR kids. To keep my license, I had to take a full college load in the summer at MY expense. AND, I never met a teacher who left school when the kids were dismissed. Often, we worked from 7:30am to 6pm to make the next day the best it could be. You might want to thank us some time.
