They really should have had more president meetings like this one in the show, helps with the narrative that even though they’re the founding charter they can still be out voted by all the other charters. In the show they always had the club go into other charters territories and basically take over for an episode or two, whole show should have been like this was or like how Mayans is with charters fighting at times
with sons of anarchy its more Samcro had the most influence as the mother charter, the first one and the one that had the most first 9 members, so they pretty much set the standard that all other charters went by. There were charters that did not always go that way as Samtaz chose to keep their meth trade even after Clay told them to shut it down, cause again it was their own charter and therefore their own call. Mayans was different cause Santo padre was not the most influential charter from the start (that was Oakland and more so because of Alvarez) and majority of the inner mayan conflict was cause Santo Padre tried to become like SAMCRO when Alvarez stepped down and then got kicked out.
Jax was a true man. He knew he fucked up and instead of telling lies on top of lies to get out of it (like his mother), he copped and took his medicine
His club needed to do it. So each club maintains its individuality, and each club pays for the mistakes of its members. If his own charter couldn't do it, they would question the integrity of the entire Redwood Original crew.
this was all part of jax's grand plan, kinda like Opie's was, a legal suicide of sorts.... but, loose ends needed to be tied up, and , according to the rules of SAMCRO, not only Jax killing a President, but President of the mother charter.... when clay killed Piney, Piney was First 9, and Mr. Mayhem was the punishment should the table vote it, and Mr. Mayhem wasnt getting off so easy as to have 1, 2 in the back of the head, but Mr. Mayhem means getting chained to a bike and dragged to your death....... and on a more personal note, i Wish their wouldve been more scenes with Packer here

yeah the moment he knew he had killed a lot of people unjustly, and that he realized what he had to do to Gemma, then thats when he was like "its time to die".

For the longest time, until this episode actually, I thought they actually had someone designated as a "Mister Mayhem"- like a nomad that served as the club executioner. Granted.... before he joined SAMCRO, Happy seemed to fill that role, but still....

I think there’s a pretty clear difference between killing yourself to save your friends from having to do it (Jax had to die or SAMCRO would have been crushed by other charters for Jury’s murder) and suicide because you couldn’t handle stuff (like juice attempted, which is when we hear that line)
Well, I would have to go with your "every episode, Gemma finds a way to make things worse" line of thought, but she made things worse for those episode the previous season when she killed Tara. That's what led to this scene, right here. Honestly though, it's also unintentionally Wayne Unser's fault, too, Tara's death. He told Gemma he heard Tara was gonna out the club on a bunch of stuff which was, in the end, NOT the case, and that sent Gemma into a blind rage that led to her murdering Tara. In Unser's case, he didn't realize he had incorrect information, although he SHOULD have realized Gemma would LITERALLY do anything to protect the club, even murder her own daughter in law, the mother / stepmother of her grandsons, especially with the false info she was given that she thought was true. Still though, Gemma always finds a way to just fully mess things up.

What I thought is he really did not have to die in fact.. Like if he wanted to punish his mom, he couldv've best had her arrested, the other kills at the end he could've just give out to others. He could've taken his boys and went to Nero's farm for example after his club was pretty much in calm waters again.. If not I think the biggest reason for Jax wanting to kill himself would be the loss of TAra. But it was the plan from the star that it would end like this and Jax would die, it had to be Dramatic "like Shakespear".
The whole "Jax kills Jury" element of this season was pretty wild. As the series went on, the machinations got wilder and wilder yet they kept on getting away with it (more or less), so in a way it's fitting that the ending sort of hinges on Jax impulsively wasting another President for seemingly no reason.

Jax had a noble cause at first but then he got bloodthirsty and reckless. He turned into happy except happy faces that he was a murderer and accepted that he enjoyed it, he didn't make excuses for his evil.

Forget the fact Jax murdered a fellow President; the only reason Jury was reaching for his weapon is a confrontation that Jax initiated and escalated. Jax couldn't even say for certain that Jury was even reaching for his gun (which by itself is highly specious), and that's if they decide to take the word of the killer about what his victim was doing. Lying about Jury confessing to a crime he never actually committed put the last nail in his coffin.
Because Jax was intentioned to kill him since he decided to meet him so even if jury didn't go for his gun he would kill him in someway and Jury was aware about that and about what Jax was become, you can't blame him about trying to save his life before Jax kill him.

Then because of his selfishness, greedy nature he ended up turning the Club into IRA and Romeo's wh*re,with so many enemies lurking around including Clay himself. And all that fell upon Jax's shoulder when he became the president. And he brought the club out from it.

I think jury nee that Gemma had something to do with jax father death plus Jax cross a line he knew he couldn't come back from this story is like a Shakespeare story it has everything betrayal, violence,love and mistrust among it characters this show was brilliant.
I love how every President doesn’t want to do it, but meanwhile Gaines is like “screw him, he has to die.” Even with the Mayhem vote passing, you get the sense that relations between SAMCRO and Indian Hills are gonna be strained for years to come.
Their charters were strained to begin with since they forced the Patch Over in season one. Wish we had more Gaines in the show. The guy playing him is super talented.

He wasn't interested in hearing Jury's side of the story. furthermore lets take a look at WHY this turned into a confrontation. Like maybe the fact that Jax had killed his son. FOR NO REASON. They just used them as the scapegoat for the Chinese ambush. And in spite of that, Jury wanting him dead, Jury did absolutely nothing.
no matter what else is going on- if a person draws a gun on another person. or attempts to draw a gun on another person, deadly force is legally authorized against the gun wielder. If you reach for a gun when in a physical conflict with someone, even if that gun fell from the sky, you can legally be subject to deadly force. No matter what happened in the surrounding circumstances, this situation is not a capital offense in any jurisdiction, although perhaps if one recognizes 'club rules' as a legitimate code of law, then it might be different.
I think the biggest mistake SOA made in the finale was Gemma dying without knowing all the havoc she caused. If she would have known Jax was meeting mister Mayhem because he went on a murderous rampage after his mother killed his wife? That would have been the sweetest justice EVER. Knowing her killing Tara ultimately ended her sons life? The person she loved more than anything? Even if she lived with that knowledge for 2 mins before Jax put a bullet in the back of her head.

Not sure about the States, but in the UK, tri-monthly meetings usually take place in a region where several Chapters are. It’s a good line of communication and a lot of differences get settled there. This should’ve happened more in SOA.

In the DVD commentary, show creator Kurt Sutter explains that Jax is a closeted homosexual and that he struggles internally to hide it from the rest of SAMCRO. I didn’t really notice this the first time I watched the series, but noticed all the hints after rewatching.
I mean suicide is almost a cop out at this point. Wifes dead cus his mom, watched best friend get skull caved in, killed his own mother, killed innocent people he loved on his road to vengence, to live after all that would have been more of a punishment.

He told Gemma he heard Tara was gonna out the club on a bunch of stuff which was, in the end, NOT the case, and that sent Gemma into a blind rage that led to her murdering Tara. In Unser's case, he didn't realize he had incorrect information, although he SHOULD have realized Gemma would LITERALLY do anything to protect the club, even murder her own daughter in law, the mother / stepmother of her grandsons, especially with the false info she was given that she thought was true. Still though, Gemma always finds a way to just fully mess things up.

The whole "Jax kills Jury" element of this season was pretty wild.
As the series went on, the machinations got wilder and wilder yet they kept on getting away with it (more or less), so in a way it's fitting that the ending sort of hinges on Jax impulsively wasting another President for seemingly no reason.
Except that other president pointed a gun on him and might have killed Jax there lol.

No matter what happened in the surrounding circumstances, this situation is not a capital offense in any jurisdiction, although perhaps if one recognizes 'club rules' as a legitimate code of law, then it might be different.

I think the biggest mistake SOA made in the finale was Gemma dying without knowing all the havoc she caused. If she would have known Jax was meeting mister Mayhem because he went on a murderous rampage after his mother killed his wife? That would have been the sweetest justice EVER. Knowing her killing Tara ultimately ended her sons life? The person she loved more than anything? Even if she lived with that knowledge for 2 mins before Jax put a bullet in the back of her head.
