Its been a quiet last couple of weeks at the Chateau since Penelope's departure for NYC.
In this episode, we clean up the east wing and turn it back into a painting studio in preparation for the summer season and guests. Julia and Carolina share a bit about the family, the business and what its like for the the entire family to work, live, play and retire to Puy Vidal. The box-hedge eating caterpillar arrives and we must act quickly to get rid of it. Finally, we celebrate Maruca birthday by going on a day-trip to Saint Emilion - just an 1 hour and 30 minute drive from the Puy Vidal.

A GREAT thoughtful summary on how your past familial relationships have evolved since the move. We moved to a town south of Bergerac last November from NYC, so we love seeing areas down south of you. The paint colour on the walls of the studio is lovely but it can make a huge difference to the light in a room by painting the walls white. I'm sure your Mum already is across that with her talents. Many Happy Returns for her Birthday and thanks for taking us to Saint Emilion.
Conversely, forMaruca and Roberto, it’s a gift of growing new life muscles, emotional skills and physical challenges. These changes and adjustments are blessings. This will keep them spry and healthier for years to come. I know, I’m older and know that limits and decline come from shutting down and and becoming irrelevant. Cheers to many years of adventures for your whole life!
Happy Belated Maruca. It looked like a fabulous birthday. Congrats, Penelope. Those catapillars are so destructive that you really need to keep a close watch. Unfortunately, you do need pesticide for them. How heartbreaking it would be if they ate the whole labyrinth. Best wishes all.

We had an infestation of tent caterpillars and used dish soap in the kind of sprayer that attaches to your garden hose. It worked great. It suffocates soft body caterpillars. Probably would work for you.
Also, for the art studio. How about large bifold doors instead of arched doors. It will offer more light, and you can open them completely, enlarging your space by adding the space where your patio furniture is.
Just love watching your professionally curated videos! You do a smashing job! Well done. You really know how to make people fall in love with France and your hardworking savvy family. I look forward to the next video with anticipation. I watch a few chateau TH-cam videos and I must say that it is the beautiful people in the videos that capture your heart. Your lovely family with all your gifts and talents have captured mine.
