After watching some reviews as this I bought this, but a white one with blue switch. I'm quite happy with it so far but the type feels quite (a little too) light, and the spacebar has a bit of tinging sound (can't explain it...) Still the beauty conquers all, so I like it for myself. Any retro-lovers will enjoy this!
So much fun. Really enjoyed that. I have found that I like the clickity blue switches on a keyboard. I have an ergonomic mechanical keyboard with blue switches attached to my work computer. Glad I work from home because the noise could potentially drive others insane.
Anything that looks like an old fashioned typewriter gives me the shivers. I'm old enough to have used them for business correspondence and story telling and such. I've owned a few of them, one of them the now famous IBM golf ball type writer. They do force you to be disciplined, which I suppose is a good thing for many writing jobs, but that goes against creative writing. So, when the first affordable PCs came out with word processors installed, I thought I had finally arrived in heaven. I mean affordable as in under a month's wages. I haven't looked back since.
I sooo want one of these. But that price!! 😮Great review. And thank you because I know next to nothing about them. The simple and easy Manuel that comes with it, means everything to me. (A non techy older person) 😊
Love the look, but my concern is how does it compare to other mechanical keyboards? I'm not a gamer, but a writer thinking of going mechanical due to the supposed improvement in the flow and ease of writing. Especially regarding the feel and sound of the keys. How much push back is there? Are they firm or mushy? For people who love their mechanical keyboards it's important to know if the back of the unit (I would think so) can be opened so that some aspects of the key sounds can be altered or dampened. (This would help with the sharper metallic sound of that spacebar on the Querkywriter too). Also do you know if the key switches (not the key caps) are soldered onto the circuit board or are they swappable? (This is important if you like brown instead of blue switches). Thank you!
They are replaceable. It does not have a ton of resistance. There is a shot of the underside of the keyboard where you can see the battery component. It is not designed to be heavily altered by the user.
If you own some of those antique typewriters (Such as the old Royal's, Olympia, Remington, etc. typewriters from the early early to mid 1900's), you can get a "USB Typewriter Conversion Kit" to turn a real antique typewriter into a USB compatible keyboard for roughly $180ish. ((This is the first video i've seen from you, so if you have already done a review of something similar i apologize, but it would be neat to see a review on something like that.))
Love this. Now I want one 😬I’ve been looking at them for awhile. Quick question..can you turn off the keyboard sound if you are in say an airplane or coffee shop? Thanks
How does it hold up under larger scale typing sessions, compared to a standard laptop keyboard? Is it wide enough that it doesn't cramp your fingers? Any other comments on its ergonomics?
Actually, historically the prices of many goods have been artificially low, because factory workers have been paid peanuts. When people are paid decent wages for design, testing, manufacturing, and production, the prices of things will naturally increase. As more and more people start learning, studying, and improving their skills fewer will be willing to work in factories for pennies a day. Personally, I have had my wired L100 Dell keyboard for over 7 years. It still works fine. In retrospect, I think it was worth a few hundred dollars at time of purchase based on the years of service it has given me while other more modern keyboards have come out and worn out during that time. As Grant Cardone says, "It isn't that it costs too much; the case is that you need to make more money." Thank you for the review, Just My Typewriter, I can't wait to unbox the 2.0 Aluminum version. I hope it comes in a box as nice as the one you received. It is really exciting that designers are looking at the market and trying to create aesthetic and functional items to improve our life experience.
"I Don't like to be influenced by monetary value..." I like you already and you earned a like! I always click off promoted products because they're paid to lie
Glad they took the number pad away, its not needed. Barely anybody uses that. What is lame though is that you cant scroll up or down with one of the knobs. Atleast the qwerkywriter does that. Also i dont like the gold accents. Should have kept it silver or mettalic to match the key caps.
I still use an IBM Selectric II and I just ordered a Yunzii B308 typewriter keyboard because after ending a bad marriage last year I'm finally about to date again and I've been chatting with cute boys i.e. my prospects after my workday is over and ... all that typing on my tiny phone screen was taking a toll on my fingers lol. I'm going to check out more of your videos! Are you also into postal mail? Here's a vlog about tryng to repair my former Vancouver (2nd home city) typewriter, Perséphone, and having to end up rehoming her. I now have a new one called Usagi Tsukino ❤th-cam.com/video/V6rOsEDgKO4/w-d-xo.html
I didn't think I needed another hobby but TH-cam thinks otherwise
😅😂😊
Great review! This helped me narrow down my options and figure out that I want to go with a Fineday. Thank you! Subscribed.

Like all things, smaller aspects show up after repeated use

Body is UV coated ABS. only the keys, lever and wheel are aluminum.

I think you would love typing on an IBM Model M or a Unicomp. Buckling spring keys have the best tactile feel!
Sound demo 6:48
I wish one of the platens could be used to scroll the screen.
It doesn't? That's a deal breaker for me like no joke.

What a great thorough review!!! Makes me want to get a FineDay!!! Thank you!
They key above the enter key that normally represents "|" and "\" looks like it says "|W" on the keycap. Can you tell me about this key? Thx!
Love this. Now I want one 😬I’ve been looking at them for awhile. Quick question..can you turn off the keyboard sound if you are in say an airplane or coffee shop? Thanks
You cannot as the sound comes from the keys themselves
You can manually change the switches though.

I personally find the keys to be rather close together, but I'm used to a more flat laptop keyboard than a raised mechanical board
I am having the hardest time getting it connected to my iPad. Does anybody know how to connect this to an iPad?
Hello appreciate your review and transparency on it. Can you measure the slot? I want to see if it will fit a ms surface
it's about 9 in long and 3/4 in wide
I had never heard the word "newtro" before! Cool 👍
Is the return lever only on the left? traditional is on right is why I ask
There is an enter button on the right side of the keyboard. The lever on the left is an additional option
Nice review! Good information on there! And hey look at you not hunting and pecking! My HS typing teacher approve! ❤
They should give you a choice of switch. Not everyone wants loud clicky blue switches. I myself prefer brown.
Nice review! Aalllllllmost makes me get one, but I need the numpad, do you know if this one has one you can plug separately?
Other keyboards do have additional contraptions that use the number pad. I believe Fineday has just started making one separately
@@JustMyTypewriter they have? Oh great I haven't found that. I'll wait a little longer and see if it comes out for this "typeboard". Thanks!
The 2.0 version has 104 keys which includes the number pad section.
Are the keys a little raised versus the qwerky writer? Or flat
They have a slant/pitch to the keyboard and use mechanical switches similar to the qwerkywriter which makes them raised
@@JustMyTypewriter Thank you very much 🫶🏽
amazon over 350.00 no way this is worth that price i can buy a chromebook or laptop for that

I just checked Amazon 189.00
The most addictive keyboard is QWERTY and QWERTY is in 1st place❤😊
This keyboard comes in QWERTY version

I agree regarding the scrolling- I think I'm willing to trade that off for the backlight, but a lot of those elements are up to personal preference
People who work in accounting and finance use the numerical keypad.
Problem with those keyboards is that keys are way too close
I have that problem on the qwerkywriter specifically !
"Aluminum" is the English word. In French, it's "aluminium."
In British English they pronounce it (and write it) "aluminium." In American English, we pronounce it "Aluminum"
Too expensive. I have a couple of Qwerkywriter S', but I think paying that kind of money for a retro mechanical keyboard is way too much.
It's more expensive than the knewkey DJ88 and that has a whole Dolby speaker.
Sound? How loud?
sound clip included toward the end
Was your backlighting in the video supposed to be similar to your Barbie typewriters?
It was supposed to be similar to some of my other tech videos! Like my AI video and the YUNZII Keyboard review I did a few months ago!

Ty was very well explained
$900?
Typewriters just use only QWERTY keyboard
Dont like the pink purple porn room lighting. Why?
Thanks!
