I still find it funny you can do the entire xenlogue before ever meeting almost all of the characters, and if you wait the dlc characters arent usable in the main story.
That is funny, tbh I think veyle should've been a required condition before this paralogue, it feels off that in a story about twins, your sibling isn't included in the picture, assuming that you also have mauvier the 4 winds would actybe complete this time around
You know I do like Rafal as a character. A Dragon Child with a pretty messed up head, between born in an army of sibling of which most have died, the one that looks identical you as well, pretending to be him for many many years. Growing attached to Nels being his only sibling left and person that have shown him most love and care on his life. Being conflicted from getting a dragon stone marked by his dad and being called the Successor of Sombrons Legacy, I can see the conflict being between wanting to follow his Father Legacy vs the People that love and care for him. Also, the Sombron stone thing was not mind controlling Nils, is more of a Lyon in FE8 situation, he is being influenced by the big bad into their worst attributes, so they still kind of at fault to their actions for not having the strong will to fully refuse such influence. This is why by the end is being melodramatic wanting to die for having to Betray Nel, but also well he is following His Fell Dragon urges to destroy everything as Sombron wanted. It also doesn't help that technically this world was already fucked by the war with Sombron anyway, that everyone and their grandma already died during it, So Rafal Blaming himself fully for that, kind of confuses me a bit. Problem is as usual, this is too much to try sell in such short time, even worse that they try to give this in the final chapter, because most of the DLC we just Beating the Royals. Honestly i would have given Nils just his normal game stats (funny enough is stronger than Nel) but unable to use the dragon stone still, as a contradiction to what he is trying to pretend being, instead of trying to keep it a twist again and again. I would had preferred if they let you know "Nils" is evil behind the background from the go, but also showing his constant conflict between what Sombron wants him to do vs his Emotions towards Nels. Also, by the end, Since the Dragon Stone is from Nels, by killing herself she breaks the stone, which also removes the Sombron touchy influence and "release" Rafal. I personally would have preferred if the Sombron influence was more of Symbolic and thus not having to go such lengths to have Nel Kill herself but since we also want them to be playable make her Death a non-factor minutes later. In the Base Game this continues were Rafal is helping mostly wanting to Redeem Himself and still not finding himself worth of Nels care and love. Also, his Convo against the MC world Sombron is a cool one.
I'll repost here my idea for Nil; IMO it would've been way better if Nil wasn't a game over condition, if he just ran away and became available again next map. Or if he was very dodgy, since he survived avoiding battles, or better, both. That would give the impression for the player, "Nel is a game over condition, Alear is a game over condition, but this guy keeps getting away *somehow. I wonder why* ". A much better way to foreshadow him, without making the gameplay so miserable. About the story, I feel since the four winds don't have the same personality as the four hounds, that defies the purpose of recruiting them. Greg is just bizarre with the same outfit as Griss, and I'm not even sure if they have similar skills. It's the meme "we have the four hounds at home. Four hounds at home: Four winds" . They could had just "oh sombrom created clones with dragon magic whatever, so here you go, here's your units" and I'm afraid it would've been better. Rafal bringing back Nel finished off her for me, like, there's zero weight for her as a character. There were just too many twists in the end, it got to the point to be hard to follow. Scrap the "four winds", make them clones if one must, make the Rafal reveal or earlier to have time to breathe, or at the last possible moment for climax, don't make Nel end herself, but break her stone, and give Rafal some last moment to show that was really Sombron's doing, and don't make Rafal not be Nil, it's too much for the same character. Less is more, the elements are here. It still wouldn't been great, but would be way more serviceable doing less.
the weird but most interesting aspect of Nil in Fell Xenologue to me, is how he's the only unit in the entire series who literally gets to combine 2 attack skills, and activate both at once, like Sol+SandStorm for a makeshift Aether. or even Luna+SandStorm, which's one of the most unique aspects of it. but that's assuming he's able to absorb the required skills 🤔 Fell Xenologue overall is a weird place where it assumes you're using the best emblem skills possible to overcome the horridish weaker weapons, whichs depends on difficulty+Chars brought. Hard mode FX is actually quite fair as far as experiences go, it actually isn't that bad once you've figured the maps out, its the best difficulty for a good challenge. Maddening FX legit feels the definition of insanity because compared to hard, maddening's strats are significantly more strict. Normal FX is basically free Somniel well resets w/no pain involved. Nil being intentionally weak, while its deff bad, it at least makes some sense in context when considering he's sabotaging alear. but Nel+the 4 hounds being weak is actually depressing. esp since in later maps on specifically hard, Nel can't take a hit but is a decent support one of the legit most surprisingly notorious missable things FX has is all of the fallen royals unique crit quotes, which's one of my fave aspects of FX its too bad you'd have to drag a low-level crittable unit to see those but that's why we have youtube for it Despite the clear issues w/FX, Nel and Rafal's levels also causing problems when joining, I think they're pretty enjoyable to play as, esp w/their unique weapons

For Xenologue 5 I like to give Nel the Edelgard braclet and use Claude's poison gambit on Nil. Once there are 3 stacks of poison she can go on the offensive, just make sure to give her physic support. This probably wouldn't work on maddening though.
This was an..... experience to say the least lol. I will say, i like the idea of the final map, maybe just like 2 - 3 less runes thingy and i'm sold. Also i didn't see the ending, nor any cutscene, think what you want, but i intent to witness this story by myself lol. But from the few snipets i saw... it really looks like the story went to sh t when Nir betrayed us, before it was fine, liked the idea, could have been better but how well.. But after... this just looks like the story fell down an infinite staircase and never managed to stop falling lol. Aight, rants over, have a good day / night everyone lol.

I think the writing is decent, in comparison with the main game, I wish they used this story instead, but feels like you don't really to play this DLC... everything is worth it just to marry Zelestia though
about the snakedragon part alears mothers dragon form is not based on a snake only the fel dragons are. also can you really not understand rafal at the end.

Fell Xenologue overall is a weird place where it assumes you're using the best emblem skills possible to overcome the horridish weaker weapons, whichs depends on difficulty+Chars brought.
Hard mode FX is actually quite fair as far as experiences go,
it actually isn't that bad once you've figured the maps out, its the best difficulty for a good challenge.
Maddening FX legit feels the definition of insanity because compared to hard, maddening's strats are significantly more strict.
Normal FX is basically free Somniel well resets w/no pain involved.
Nil being intentionally weak, while its deff bad,
it at least makes some sense in context when considering he's sabotaging alear.
but Nel+the 4 hounds being weak is actually depressing. esp since in later maps on specifically hard, Nel can't take a hit but is a decent support
one of the legit most surprisingly notorious missable things FX has is all of the fallen royals unique crit quotes, which's one of my fave aspects of FX
its too bad you'd have to drag a low-level crittable unit to see those but that's why we have youtube for it
Despite the clear issues w/FX, Nel and Rafal's levels also causing problems when joining,
I think they're pretty enjoyable to play as, esp w/their unique weapons

I honestly don't hate this story beats at this point, just the awful writing and how they handle scenes
For Xenologue 5 I like to give Nel the Edelgard braclet and use Claude's poison gambit on Nil. Once there are 3 stacks of poison she can go on the offensive, just make sure to give her physic support.
This probably wouldn't work on maddening though.
This was an..... experience to say the least lol. I will say, i like the idea of the final map, maybe just like 2 - 3 less runes thingy and i'm sold. Also i didn't see the ending, nor any cutscene, think what you want, but i intent to witness this story by myself lol. But from the few snipets i saw... it really looks like the story went to sh t when Nir betrayed us, before it was fine, liked the idea, could have been better but how well.. But after... this just looks like the story fell down an infinite staircase and never managed to stop falling lol. Aight, rants over, have a good day / night everyone lol.
This! The beginning was like "well, this doesn't look incredible, but not that awful either...", but then about half way it spiralled downwards hard.

This stream was certainly something amazing, I loved Nel, But hate HATE Nil what a terrible unit and an even more infuriating character, the winds were ok, and some of the maps were ok, other maps were terrible though.
Though I had a lot of fun with you Egg and I look forward to the CMU

I think the writing is decent, in comparison with the main game, I wish they used this story instead, but feels like you don't really to play this DLC... everything is worth it just to marry Zelestia though
about the snakedragon part alears mothers dragon form is not based on a snake only the fel dragons are. also can you really not understand rafal at the end.
