In older days, a man's handshake was a contract ! Stronger and more powerful than written by lawyers ! So, I bet you that this old lad heard what you told him, he liked it, he approved it and he signed it by squeezing your hand ! So, you got a life's condruct ! Hope you will be able of keeping loyal to it ! May God bless you and your family !
I watched this video twice...back to back. And both times, when you were talking about that last "conversation" with Gilbert...where you promised to not fail, to keep the ranch alive for the future generations, and Gilbert squeezing your hand....that segment brought me to tears. In that moment, you gave Gilbert peace of mind and heart. He knew that you would take care of the ranch, of the land, and more importantly...of his wife (Erin's mother). Gilbert heard you, and in your words to him, he knew that you would carry on his work, would maintain the ranch, grow it if possible, and that the woman he loved would be taken care of as well. He could not reply verbally, but that hand squeeze was all he needed to say. That was a man's way....an old school, hard as nails man's way....of sealing the deal, signing the contract. After that, Gilbert knew that all would be well with those things that filled his heart with purpose and passion...his ranch and his wife. It does not surprise me that just a couple hours after that "conversation" Gilbert departed this life. He was able to lay his burdens down.....because he knew that you had taken those burdens upon your shoulders and that you would not drop them, that you would do the work that needed done, and care for all that needed cared for. You gave Gilbert what he needed...assurance. Bless you for that, Mike. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.
Mike, Erin this video is very touching. My house is only 2 miles from the family farm I managed and helped my grandfather on for 8yrs when he retired. I know my grandpa sits in his chair every day, shaking uncontrollably and losing his battle with Parkinson's and dementia. I thought it was my God destined task to be by his side, to keep his farm going. He loves my daughter, his great granddaughter. He talked with her about farming and animals, even though she was an infant. Unfortunately due to greed of my uncles I'm forced out. I find your story, your history with the ranch that a bit of a realistic fairytale. Your living many peoples dream, including mine. I'm am so grateful you share this journey with me and my family. My daughter loves your cows. Shes almost 3. Have a happy Thanksgiving, Bill.
Greed of THE Uncle was our Problem. Mom went out pretty much empty handed ´cause she didn´t want Problems. Only got a fraction of the property value from her brother.
I have a similar uncle story on the farm/ranch where I grew up. My great-grandfather cleared timber and drained the swamp to make it productive property. He was a carpenter, a blacksmith, a gill-netter and farmer. He build houses, a huge barn and several outbuildings on the property. Grandpa inherited it, then my dad, but his brother's forced him to sell. My dad passed away a few years later, and sadly, I don't see any of my aunts, uncles or cousins anymore. Tragic.
it sure is a challenge. my wife has had Parkinson for a few years now. the battle is so frustrating for her but she seems to manage with the meds and help from the docs. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours
This episode touched me deeply being the son of a fireman, a Veteran and someone who believes to the bottom of heart a mans word is sacred, I respect what you did by telling Gilbert you wouldn’t fail. Well sir thanks for sharing your life style. I’ll say it every time I wish I could spend time on the ranch.
Mike and Erin, you two are quite something. Your hard work and dedication, to not only each other, but to your family and land is awe inspiring and wonderful. God bless your family and your ranch.
Gilbert would be proud of the progress you have made. What a great opportunity most people would dream to be a part of. Gilbert couldn't ask for a better family member to keep the ranch moving and passing it on to future generations.
you speak English beautifully and DJ job explains why you are such a good speaker( I hate the way people use incorrect English drives me nuts, so its very refreshing I really like your channel )
Thank you Mike and Erin for sharing more of your personal and family history. The power of your emotions and family connections comes through the video. I'm happy that things are mostly working out for you all in your Wyoming Life. The family farm/ranch, where I grew up, ended more tragically for my father a few years before he passed away. Again, thank you both, for letting many of us live vicariously through your ranch life.
I grew up right outside DC, my wife in Wisconsin. We recently moved back to Wisconsin with our 2 boys and bought a 40 acre farm. While we both have full time jobs, we still plan on raising animals for sale. All for a better, worthwhile quality of life. Thanks for the continued inspiration.
Mike, i live in a city of over 2 million people, but your videos remind me of going to my uncle's farm. This is very touching. You're teaching your kids not only hard work, but the value of family, keeping your word , and commitment. Thank you.
Mike, you and Erin are remarkable humans. I could not help but cry listening to this story and the love that given and shared by you guys. So rare, So precious. Giving of yourself unselfishly is priceless. God cannot be outgiven. And he has given to you and will continue to that, because of the choices in life that your making. I'm blessed for having heard this story. Thank you!
I'm sure Gilbert is looking down with such happy, teared eyes, on what your family has done, to better the life of his, and your loved ones, living on the ranch! God Bless you, Erin, and the family! Please continue to share the ideas and tribulations of the effort that makes life better for the family, and the community, in your journey to explore what life is really about! Our entire Country would benefit from from the awesome videos, showing what it takes to make dreams a reality! Thanks again from your neighbors a thousand miles away! (P.S. God Bless Gary!)
This made me cry! Gilbert was a smart man, from the sounds of it. I hope my husband and I can grow to homesteading for our future family. I know it isn't an easy life but I can't think of something more rewarding. ❤
Touching story. Courage, integrity, promises, commitment and hope. I look forward to following you from our home in Miami. We all have a part to play in this country whatever our story or background. Blessings and peace.
Wow Mike! Thanks! It's funny how God works in mysterious ways. I thoroughly enjoyed that story. Gilbert! (May his soul rest in peace!) Saw something in you, and All of us can now see what it is, "You're Special! And with Divine Privilege!" You certainly are the man God put in charge. He's given you something you now love to do, and what's even better is that you have your family around you all the time. Many would envy that, I'm sure. This new series is simply fascinating! Happy Thanksgiving! We can't wait to hear the rest of the story! God Bless You, Erin, and the kids!
This video is what TH-cam should be about. In fact, it’s what our lives should be about: a story that is our lives; and telling that story well to others. Powerful video. Thank you!
I think the sincerity in your videos is what draws folks in. It's not someone looking for likes or their 15 min of fame. Just a genuine love for what you do, good times and bad. Keep up the good work!!
Gilbert sounds like a heck of a mentor and father in law. You sure are right about life making some turns we don't expect. 4 years back we decided to leave California and my husbands tech job. He's a trucker now and I am at home starting our hobby farm. It's what we both needed. We stopped chasing the high paying jobs and started doing what fed our souls.
Mike, I am so looking forward to your series about the history of the ranch. It is so unfortunate for the nation that more folks don't have a love and commitment for the land and family that you folks do.GOD BLESS!
WOW !! I really appreciate what a fine loyal person you and your wife are. Living in the east (NJ) you forget that there are REAL hardworking people out there who still have family values and live by a code of honor, sacrifice, and honesty. I truly admire the fact that you live WITH the land and not just on it. God Bless the Cowboy !!!
I have the same situation started by helping my dear Uncle, lost my business, made the same promise now, I’m running his property with cattle and horses and grew to love everything . It’s my home now, and I’d be lost without it. But it’s hard work. This video was wonderful and brought a lot of emotions to the surface.
Mike, I am 100 percent certain Gilbert is looking down on the ranch and is very very proud and grateful for what you and Erin have done and continue to do. And Erin we love your beautiful face with or without makeup 💄. Take care
Loved this video. Both of my grandfathers and my uncle were farmers and cattle ranchers here in central Fl. I am a 70 year woman and have been raising sheep here for four years because I wanted some kind of livestock. We have a small homestead but have a chance to get a couple of Florida Cracker calves (aka pineywoods cattle) and I think I just might do it. They are native to Fl and now are one of the oldest and rarest breeds of cattle in the country. Docile and able to survive on even poor food they have managed to make it. You guys have a Wonderful Thanksgiving!
As someone in corporate myself, I dream of one day living as a rancher like you. Thank you for being so inspiring. Please keep on sharing your ranch life.
Mike and Erin....they say that REAL men aren't supposed to cry.....I guess I haven't become a man yet....at 49....your story hits very close to home with me and my own family. All I'll say is continue running it into the ground. A life of hard work, is a life of rewards...not in just a financial standpoint, but in a life full of family memories. My friend you're passing great memories down to the next generation and I hope and believe they will also use this to continue to pass down your legacy. Kudos on a great video and glimpse into your daily lives and struggles. From my family to yours thoughts and prayers for even more blessings down the road. 😊
I've been watching you for many months and subscribed several months back to get all the programs on time. Like a lot of commenters here my Wife and I are in a similar situation on our family ranch. It amazes me how many stories of the ranching life have much the same beginnings and you and your Wife are to be applauded for what you have done and providing us with the story here. I watch every week! An older family friend and neighbor who I admire and respect gave me the best advice/encouragement about the ranching (or any agricultural) life and that is "Survival is Success" You have to make enough this year to keep on doing it next year. It's not so much about the money as it is about the life. Anyway, ya'll have a great story and I enjoy being a part. It's just like you planned it this way. I'll leave you with a quip that the order buyer told me after buying my calves last year; "The fastest way to become a millionaire in the cow business is to start out with two million."
Chapter after chapter I learn so much about ranching but more than everything, I discover how love for the family and for hard work can make almost impossible things, possible. May God keep on blessing you and your family.
Mike I just came across this video, I enjoyed watching this video. Hearing about how you and your wife came about to be on the ranch. I want to thank you for what you and your family is doing. Putting food on tables for people. And not only you but to all the ranchers and farmers that is out there. Working on their ranch or farm. I can honestly say that is not a easy life no matter how big or small the land is. No matter how big or small the cattle heard is, again Mike thank you for all the videos you put out, and don't never think that Erin's dad is not watching you, I think he is proud for what you and your family has done to the ranch. Hope you and your family have a awesome day and hope that this year and next year be awesome for you and your family.
My emotions crowded one upon another as I watched this episode. You, Erin, and the family are good people. Around here, there is no higher praise than being good people.
Awesome video Mike. Surely you and Erin have set your roots and they are growing deep. You'll have given your children a vision of what life is about. One in harmony with the earth and people around you and understand it's blessings. Many families hunger for this, but are unable on how to attain it. Mr. Gilbert had opened the door for your family and you truly greated a bond. He also saw that vision. God Bless.
Mike and Erin your both right where you need to be. Your FIL will always be watching over the both of you. There was a definite reason you both were swayed away from the stress and monotony of city life.......and that was to live life to its fullest in the country out in Wyoming. Blessing to your family. Sandy
Mike and Erin, family to my wife and I is everything which means that we all need to preserve our family's history! My mother's father had his captains license and piloted everything from barges up and down the Ohio River to being a tug boat captain and docking large ships. My father's father was a full time farmer and also drove a county School bus for many years. All that being said they were my heros and great roll models. I'm sure your father in-law was a great roll models for you as well. As always keep up the good work Mike and Erin and family! You guys are awesome and we will continue to watch your videos!!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful story. My brother and I have inherited 632 acres in Northern New Mexico very recently. We lived the small farm and ranch life growing up. I even had a small herd of my own that i purchased with a Government loan i got when I was still in High school. Long story short. Both my brother and I have been truck drivers for many years. He lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and my family and I have been living in Goodyear Arizona for over 6 years now. Even though I make a great living along with my wife having a great job. We are now considering and talking about going back to make a go out of the Ranch again. Only God will lead us either to do it or not. Anyway thank you for your awesome videos and your wonderful story. God bless you and your family.
This is a very emotional video that speaks loudly about your character and Integrity as people but I’m happy to support you on your journey . I was raised on a small farm that put food on our dinner table and meat in the freezer which got our family through the winter months. I deeply appreciate your love and support of agriculture in teaching others the value of growing your own. Farming is hard work that never stops and an encouraging word is always wanted and needed. God bless you in all your efforts raising a family and keeping the ranch going. May the fruits of your labors be bountiful.
Mike and Erin as I watch your videos and others similar to yours, I too think I have a calling to be a rancher (at least in my heart). You guys are certainly an inspiration to anyone wondering what in the world has happened to this country with all the negativity. Finally I can see there are people of substance, integrity, and commitment out there that understand the really wonderful things in life are not just given to you, you must work for them. You are a inspiration for all of us wannabees. Have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving! Sending our love and admiration for you from AZ.
Mike and Erin, an epic tale of commitment to family and a life style that few would adopt! This is as American as it gets, grit and gutt determination, thanks for sharing this with us all. I hope the kids will join in, in the near future. Happy thanksgiving to you all!
Damn you Mike, I'm 66 & have been through a lot of BS in my life that I felt had tempered me into the person I am. But when you related your promise to Gilbert to us, it was like being poleaxed with a pick handle. I'm not going to get into a lot of details here, or get weepy & teary eyed (again), but I just want (hopefully some day soon) to shake your hand.
Mike you produce a great show and an awesome channel. I grew up a farm kid with a history all our own. Have a military history I'm proud of and satisfy my nature of yearning for the farm through your videos. I too have spent time in the corporate world and long to "escape the ordinary". I salute you sir and thank you for the hard work you share with us.
Thanks for the great video Mike, my Grandmother rode her pony over the hill to Trinidad to become a nurse. Yes she was born in the 1800's and almost made it to the 2000's. Prop's to those who made homesteading work for them.
20 years ago while still reeling from a breif summer stint in Cosmopolitan Mag I continued recieving cards an letters from people I didnt even know an hopeful's coming over the phone. However what really turns my crank is raising sheep an hearing stories like yours. Thanks for Hanging in there.God has Blessed your Family and Life.
One really touching video. I can just say that I totally agree that life isn't always predicable. Sometimes the opportunities show up and then if you go for it you might have to give something else up. Being an adult has always been kind of a challenge I think. So much stuff to be responsible but it's an neverending story to learn from. I totally think that family goes first. Without love everything else seems pointless for me. I've always been into farming but both my parents and myself talked me out of it and studied to become an engineer. Boy that was such a wrong decision. I never got to feel at home in the office. Now at an age of almost 52 years old I regret not going for the first feeling I had. The only way I can even come close to farming is to watch youtubers like yourself and subscribe to magazines. I love farming and I look up to everyone that is taking on the challenge to make a living on a farm. Best wishes to you and your family that everything will work out in the end. Thanks for sharing a bit of your life.
Wow! Mike and Erin my hat is off to you guys. What a power opening to your story! You are showing everyone what family is all about. Oh yeah, life is tuff and the strong will survive. Thank for sharing!
Thank you for making this video. Mike and Erin, you guys will never know how much your journey has touched me. I pray God's richest blessings on your whole family. Keep up the good work.
I'm a Hurricane Katrina survivor. Portland Oregon was our dream. I have a raised garden bed. I've always had a garden. Just smaller now! And. I still play trumpet around !ittle towns in Oregon & Washington. I'm a rock & roll Grandma.
1-Live each day with courage. 2-Take pride in your work. 3-Always finish what you start. 4-Know where to draw the line. 5-You make a promise keep it. 6-Do what has to be done. 7-Be tough but be fair. 8-Never be afraid to fail because when you're afraid to fail you'll never try. 9-When you fail don't look at it as failing I look at it as learning. 10-Breath in problems, exhale Solutions. This has always been my code of life.
This video game me chills. Awesome story worth listening to from time to time. The view from the mountain top, has little meaning without the journey to get there.
Mike love hearing your story. I live in NJ and actually have a few friends at the local country station. I enjoy getting involved in some of there charities. I serve my Community doing EMS for 24 years. After I left EMS me and my parents planned on moving closer to family. My mom grew up in foster care so she didn't get to know her brothers and sister. November 11, 2019 my dad passed away. I'm still hoping to move my mom closer to family.
after I retired from my previous career in 2005...living in Atlanta, Georgia....I moved to Cheyenne and I would never live anywhere else. What an incredibly great state. I have been welcomed with open arms and this ol' Alabama boy, along with my Texas-born wife, would never live anywhere else. Toss in the incredible changes underway at FE Warren AFB and its an absolutely exciting time ! My wife and I thank ya'all so much for your hospitality.
You both know you are where you are meant to be and doing the right thing. No job would be so worthwhile or so satisfying. Keep on doing what you are doing as I think when your hearts are in the right place God will help you both through all difficulties. Praying for a long life of love, good health, happiness and prosperity for your family on the ranch. God bless you all from Northern Ireland.v
I've been following you from Texas for several months & have often wondered about your beginning on the ranch. Thank you for this series. May God continue to bless your Wyoming life!
Mike this was an awesome video. Very touching. If Gilbert could see the ranch now ; I’m sure he would be pleased . You’ve done good this far by him , and it seems to me you are a man of your word .
Thanks for all you do and allow us to have a peek into your Wyoming Life. I was raised on a small family farm (cattle) and relate very much to the struggles.
Mike and Erin, this video is very touching, it had me tearing up, thank you for sharing. I'm sure Gilbert is looking down and smiling now, knowing the ranch is in such great, caring hands. Happy Thanksgiving, John
What a wonderful, interesting, poignant story, I've always believed we end up where we're supposed to be, many times we just don't know it yet, thanks for a great start to this series, anxiously awaiting the next installment
Happy Thanksgiving Mike, Erin, and the kids too. You guys have been challenged with the road of life. You went and helped when the need arose. As you're finding out the road of life does not allow backing up. That is what the roundabouts are all about. You think there is a chance to go the other way only to find you are at the road where you left it to go back. The roundabouts slow you down to humble again. Thank both of you for being so good at telling a story
Mike & Erin... This episode is one of my favorites!! The old man's instructions were likely meant well... people under duress arent noted for eloquence or thinking thru their words before they get laid out there... i'm proud you took it in the best light... old ranchers are really hard to read when it comes to feelings stuff!!! i ought to know... been there... became one!! Thank you for sharing!!
Mike you and Erin are living the life that I wish I had when I was younger and even younger than you your purpose in life was set before you when you married Aaron you just didn't know it at that time you and your family are always in my prayer this country needs more people like you keep up the good work and many blessings to you
The good story to me is how Erin and you have transitioned your former career's to learn the ranch life.If ya'll hadn't done it the ranch would probably have been sold , so Gilbert's life continues through your hard work and perseverance. I know its not and easy but it is truly rewarding. It is remarkable that ya'll have used your prior radio careers to help tell your story and educate people who have no idea of ranching. Maybe Gilbert knew more then he let on. Take care and be proud.
Mike and Erin, I found your channel when Josh came through during his Farmstock tour and have been watching every video you put out since. The part I love is how you two are raw and strive to show the highs and lows of living, running and raising a family on the ranch. This was one of the most touching stories I’ve seen and really solidifies why it is y’all do it. I can wait to see the other videos in the series as I’m a huge history buff too. Thanks for sharing your lives with us.
what a wonderful heartfelt story Mike. I have to say I teared up twice. hang in there you seem to know how to guid the ranch in the right direction God bless AND A happy Thanksgiing
Thanks Mike you have touch my old hart I at the end of life now and I live one day at a time. So I understand your life and your wife's to. You keep going and keep your eyes open to new things for the ranch as the kids get older get them in to show cows and they learn and help them in.school to. Mike you bring tears to my eyes I see your love of your wife. She my not be the best but your love for each other is the best. And you to are very lucky to have each other count on that to get you over the humps in life. God bless you each day and big hugs to the kids too. Old cowboy Cliff
An inspiring video Mike. My situation is similar to yours, my grandfather passed in 2014 and since then I've pretty much taken the lead on running the farm. With a city job, a wife and three kids I spend nearly every weekend at the farm working. My aunt takes care of the day to day during the week on top of taking care of my grandmother who now owns the farm. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to make it pay a wage yet, but we've managed to make it pay for itself and kept it going. I enjoy your videos, not just for the work, but for the stories and the perseverance to keep going and it helps me in my life as well to keep going.
Mlke and erin this made me cry u all are special people this is steve martin in w va i have stage 4 stomach cancer and it rough on me but vidoes like this keep me strong
What a great series this promises to be and what a great way to kick it off! I didn't know Gilbert, but I know Gilberts, and they are a special breed. I'm betting my last dollar that your Gilbert is feeling like a Thanksgiving prayer has been answered with y'all picking up right where he left off and carrying the torch for your kids! It's all about the land....always has been, always will be. That's why we all die a little for every acre that's paved over or has a high rise built on top of it. Carry on good people and Happy Thanksgiving! Run it into the ground!
Watching from Ireland.... Found it by accident a few months ago and watched back on your previous videos.... Really like it and always watch it when I get home from work.... Keep up the great work
This was a great video sit here with tear in my eyes as you'll talked. Man there is nothing as good as being their for family. My daddy had some health problems in his 60's and couldn't do thing for his self like he had always done. My plone would ring and he would be asking if i could come help him with something he couldn't do. It was hard watching him having trouble with thing. But we got though it and he lived to be almost 99-year-old. He was able to take care of mother when she was sick and pasted way. God bless you'll. keep up the good work. I wake up this morning and watch this again made cry again just like i said it did last man this one was a the greatest video cannot wait to see more. Happy Thanksgiving to you'll.
Hi again! So now Mike I have proof positive why I came and have stayed following your channel. I knew early on you and Erin were my kind of folks although I couldn't have pinpointed exactly what that meant. As time has gone bye I've been finding those answers but this vid seals the deal. You both made the tough choices to take a risk to learn and experience a new lifestyle to work hard and really give it a 100% try. But most importantly you made a promise and are keeping it! So many today use that word too causally and don't follow through. I've always said to never speak that word unless you absolutely mean to keep it! A promise is a promise! And so is a handshake. So when you held his hand at that moment you accepted made a deal. That moment has stayed with you Mike and Erin because you laid it all out there to keep that promise honor the passing of the ranch to a new generation and the legacy of that ranch. I can only imagine the comfort and happiness he felt in the letting go as he then knew it ALL would be in good hands. All of that shows in the quality and results of your hard work Mike and Erin. All of those things are my answers of you two because I know because I know to my very bones as I've walked that walk with exactly the same choices the risk the hard work and the honor and integrity of keeping your word keeping your promise. Along the way mistakes and messes to fix and learn from. Many long hours of sore bones and exhaustion. Many hours putting pencil to the paper working numbers to keep the boat afloat. But all goes back to that moment of promise that keeps you motivated moving forward and knowing in your heart(s) you made the right choice and it is worth every single moment. It's a special and wonderful thing to find others of like heart and similar journeys in one way or another! It's an amazing thing you've taken on the extra it takes to share your Wyoming life and the ranch. Many creative ideas that hopefully will not only cushion the bottom line but truly help and make it possible for the ranch to continue on with the next generation being your children. And the info you are teaching explaining and demonstrating to the public is such a valuable contribution to Agriculture in general and ranching and farming in particular. So I'll be watching smiling celebrating and praying through it all with you folks as you continue. Plz know I pray for God's blessings for you all this Thanksgiving and always. And thank you Mike and Erin for being the genuine real deal folks that you are!! Til next time...
Just saw your video! With tears in my eyes I wish I could experience the life you live. I did so many years ago and still long for those days. Y'all are precious people, the salt of the earth. Best wishs to you. 💖
First I would like to say I hope you and Erin have a wonderful and peaceful, Blessed Thanksgiving. Awesome, Awesome video. I am so excited and cannot wait till next month's video. I love the history of just about everything. It's sad like when we started our little ranch/farm in Kansas, seeing how people just didn't care about the old house's, a school's an old-time Barn's just letting them crumble and fall. I never understood why they couldn't keep the old barn's up and being used. They just don't build barn's like that anymore. My husband was born and raised in Independence, Kansas, I was born in a little town called Bremerton, Washington. Washington State is where I and my husband met. We bought a house in Bremerton and he got a job at the Naval Shipyard as a laborer. After about 7 year's my husband was subsequently injured and forced out on retirement, I have a very severe Hereditary Disease that has played harshly on me medically. His dream was to own over a 100 acres of land and have a ranch. The taxes in Bremerton, Washington were outrageous so he asked me how I felt about moving to Kansas, I looked at him like "are you kidding" of course he wasn't. I told him if he bought me a horse that I would move there. So, he found 60 acres on the internet and we purchased it sight unseen. It was 60 acres of nothing but waist-high weeds. With our son, we moved about 26oo miles with a 35ft motorhome that we had bought. And we proceeded to build our little dream ranch, which we named R&R Ranch. my nickname is Rina and my husband's name is Ross, thus the R&R. Sorry this was so long and hope I did not bore you. I love you and Erin's channel, I look forward each week to your videos, keep them coming they are awesome.
I am lucky enough to live on my family's original farm. My great great grandfather settled our farm in 1871. I'm still here with my son raising cattle. We only have 40 acres of the original farm left, but I'm doing what I can with it. Keep up the good work. Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!
Awesome story and video. That tugged the heart-strings a little listening about Gilbert, eyes watered up a bit. Looking forward to seeing more of this series you started. Best wishes to you and your family!!
Many are called, but few are chosen. Seems to me, y'all have been chosen. Y'all hang in there, and run it into the ground. You'll end up next to Gilbert, body and soul. God bless you all and happy Thanksgiving!
I thank you for allowing us all in to your life the way you just did. This is why I am thankful I found your channel and enjoy watching so much. Have a great Thanksgiving. God bless.
Hi MIke, you are living the life I had envisioned for myself. In my teens and 20s, I worked on a variety of farms. I can remember discussing with one of my bosses my desire to become a farmer. His response is still stuck in my head. He said, "If I didn't inherit this farm there is no way I would be a farmer. The initial cash outlay is well into the hundreds of thousands and the loans are huge. There are basically two ways to start farming today. You either inherit or marry into a farm family." Well, neither worked out for me. So, today I have a desk job. I do love my job. I also, love your videos.
What a beautiful story. Gilbert was a fine judge of character. Damn...got something in my eye.
its just a bit of dust. :) Thanks Karl - Mike
Yes sir
Tragic.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and family Bill. and thanks for talking to me
Parkinson's is challenge. All hope you have a fine Thanksgiving.
it sure is a challenge. my wife has had Parkinson for a few years now. the battle is so frustrating for her but she seems to manage with the meds and help from the docs.
Thank you Zach!! - Mike
This was a moving video for my wife and I. You folks know what is important in life. So glad you are able to tell this wonderful story!
Today men of integrity are few and far between. Thank you for sharing this lesson in life for all of us to learn from.
Thanks MIke, there was not sacrifice but evolution in your life. An honest rendition of humanity.
What a wonderful story told by a awesome story teller. The world needs more of this.
You are living the best life possible. Thank you
Very powerful. One never knows where life will take you.
Man what a story. Hollywood can’t come close to this. I just wish I could be there to help you everyday with ranch life. What a story......
Mike and Erin, thank you for sharing your story. Well done to you both, your story is heartwarming and inspirational.
I have the same situation started by helping my dear Uncle, lost my business, made the same promise now, I’m running his property with cattle and horses
and grew to love everything .
What a great idea for a series. Nice to see not all history is forgotten. Thanks Mike
One of the greatest thing you can say when someone ask why you did something is to say my family needed me. God bless you.
It’s amazing to see the work you do Mike, your wife as well. Very inspiring!
Thank you Tom- Mike
Gilbert knew what he was doing. He found the new caretakers of the ranch. He couldn't have chosen better. God bless
Good morning Mike and Erin.
I am looking forward to the series, continuing to follow the Ranch life. Many blessings to ya
Best life ever, following dad's steps for almost the same reason. Great video by the way
Thank you Sergio - Mike
Wow! Mike and Erin my hat is off to you guys. What a power opening to your story! You are showing everyone what family is all about. Oh yeah, life is tuff and the strong will survive. Thank for sharing!
Thanks to you and Erin for being genuine and emotionally honest.
I'm a rock & roll

Outstanding! What a legacy you are continuing and building for your children.
Thank you very much Kathy - Mike
You both know you are where you are meant to be and doing the right thing. No job would be so worthwhile or so satisfying. Keep on doing what you are doing as I think when your hearts are in the right place God will help you both through all difficulties. Praying for a long life of love, good health, happiness and prosperity for your family on the ranch. God bless you all from Northern Ireland.v
I've been following you from Texas for several months & have often wondered about your beginning on the ranch. Thank you for this series. May God continue to bless your Wyoming life!
I love both of you two...what you did for Gilbert is true love & respect....GOD BLESS you both
Mike this was an awesome video.
I don't envy many people. I envy your Wyoming life. I endeavor to love my work the way you love your ranch life. God bless you
Don't envy us Jason, just make your life what you want it to be :) Thanks for watching - Mike
Thank you very much Jeffrey, and I am glad you found us. :) - Mike
what a wonderful heartfelt story Mike. I have to say I teared up twice. hang in there you seem to know how to guid the ranch in the right direction God bless AND A happy Thanksgiing
Awesome story. God bless you & your family, hope you have a happy Thanksgiving.
Cliff Anders I would love to meet you and shake your hand... Real values seem much rarer these days.
Run it into the ground Mike, run it into the ground... You're a good man Mike, you're a LOYAL man, Mike.
Why is this not a tv show I’ve watched like 6 of these videos today this channel is amazing.
Thank you very much, glad you found us, and thanks for watching - Mike
I love you and Erin's channel, I look forward each week to your videos, keep them coming they are awesome.
rancherrina *Your story is absolutely beautiful!*
Thank you for allowing me a glimpse into your life on the ranch. I've enjoyed everything you've shared. Again, thank you both.
Good Morning Mike and Erin. I think this series will be your best work yet. Thank you for doing it.
I thank you for allowing us all in to your life the way you just did. This is why I am thankful I found your channel and enjoy watching so much. Have a great Thanksgiving. God bless.
I'm not afraid to say..... This video brought a tear to my eye!!!
God bless you and yours.
God bless your famly
God bless your Ranch
Hi MIke, you are living the life I had envisioned for myself. In my teens and 20s, I worked on a variety of farms. I can remember discussing with one of my bosses my desire to become a farmer. His response is still stuck in my head. He said, "If I didn't inherit this farm there is no way I would be a farmer. The initial cash outlay is well into the hundreds of thousands and the loans are huge. There are basically two ways to start farming today. You either inherit or marry into a farm family." Well, neither worked out for me. So, today I have a desk job. I do love my job. I also, love your videos.
may you continue to be blessed and a blessing to others
