I love the fact I'm hearing music written from 1578 and it sounds just like I imagined it would. Ladies and gentleman this was brilliant and thank you so much.
Sweet! Great ensemble. The piece It really swings in your rendition. Imagine, if you will, that this is the sound that would have been ringing in the ears of Europe...
Yes, I agree. The sound of Europe, contemporaneous with raw sewage running in the streets, the plague, smallpox, syphilis, typhus, 80-Years' War, etc. It all blends together.
Best band name ever! I find these things fascinating. I love chromatic (or nearly) instruments with no moving parts that are small. The fact that they are small and still low is amazing to me.
That's awesome. I wish I was musically inclined. I bought a bassoon for my daughter and not being musical at all I bought one that what I can only describe as a "walking minstrel musician's" bassoon and I very much would like to sell it and have no idea where to start. Any ideas?
@@balalaikabeginner Racketts are really cool. They’re like bassoons but super curled up and put into a tiny shell, so it’s still a bass instrument even though it’s small.
its so cool, but theres something depply unsettling to me about the fact that (as far as I remember) the small racketts on the right are the bass voices here, while the larger dulcians on the left are the upper voices - some people have that trypophobia thing, I never really got that, but something about the rackett feels grotesque and makes my skin crawl... i still enjoy listening though, it really would make a great sampler patch in a modern production context
These guys should dress up like Run-DMC for their next video. But you can never address it or mention it. The only way it will work is if you behave like it’s not even there. No spoof, no irony, no jokes, nothing. It’s invisible. Just do exactly this, with Run-DMC outfits.

Indeed writing is a magic treasure, you can hear almost five centuries old musics just of reading a score!
It sounds like a meeting of ducks all with a bad cold…
And what a tuned and fancy ass ducks they are!
This is remarkably well in tune
They clearly know what they are doing.
Maybe something to do with even temperament? That only came in the next century.
Indeed, shockingly in tune.
Excellent phrasing really well played

The sound of renaissance 😍
This is amazing! I have always wanted to own my very own Rackett Consort Ensemble.
always love to hear a Dulcian played so well! (you too, rackett men!)
This is such a jam, love it
It slaps!
This is awesome!
I love how rhythmic this is and how there's no description or context on the instruments featured.
Yes. Yes yes yes. This is completely awesome. I hope (know) you've heard David Morrow's recording. And you've nailed/blasted it. Well played. xxx
“I seek the grail!”
This is very refined rhythmically. But subtle at the same time.
This is the perfection in music
That's amazingly sweet sounding! Well done, people!!! 🎶🎵🎶
Oh my goodness, I just came straight here from the duet version of this piece.

What a cool family

Think of the instrument as curled up inside the cylinder.
This goes hard
Well played
Beautiful balance!
Random Trivia: This was actually a piece that was sampled by a rap group called Curse ov Dialect on the Family Assorted track.
Reminds me of the bean scene in Blazing Saddles.
This is totally fantastic. I love this and can’t listen to it too much! Please keep making videos!!
Beautifull!!!!
how the "noot-noot-" as invented :D
Jokes apart, thank for the instruction, this this the first time i met this beauty.
Sounds really cool!
Fantastic! Love it!

great, sounds very nice!
Wowee! I loved this :) x
Hard to believe there is actually music written for these “instruments”:-)
Wonderful
About two thirds of the way through you guys hit the brown note and now I am cleaning my carpet with Pine-sol.
I wish I had a friend group to play renaissance era instruments with
this is like if kazoos sounded good
Bravo,so good rackety consort
❤🔥
Very interesting!
Where would i be able to get reeds for this? Or is there a wensite that shows how I could make them?
So good! Is this like Renaissance House Music back in the day? I could totally see someone Rapping over this.
loved it from the first chord. i prefer this kind of sound to pure and unobtrusive ones (perhaps it is my obnoxious personality).

facebook groups for people who do historical reenactement, renfaires etc.
Wait, what
Wild and wacky! I want a rackett! Automatic smile...
Love it, but is this only song written for Rackett that survived? Every video I see of different Rackett ensembles, they're playing this song.
Where can l buy the rackett?
It sounds weirdly modern in that it doesn't seem to follow classical theory very closely. This would be an interesting one to analyse.
should have featured these in GOT…
David Munro RIP
I misread the composer's name as Giorgio Moroder.
they have to play it flawlessly before they are allowed to have a cup of coffee
Por favor alguien me puede pasar los nombres de esos instrumentos en español? Muchas gracias
Old printer sounds
I have to say, racket works better as accompaniment.
The instruments on the left are dulcians, right? What are the instruments on the right called? This sounds really good btw
Right instruments are racketts
@@recon4786 thanks!

Racketts. And the "dulcians" are more properly called "curtals" in English, though lots of people do say "dulcian".
This is great, I thank you! What is the name of these instruments? The left one is a bit similiar to bassoon.
dulcians (or curtals) and racketts
@@icespittingfire thank you!
Is there an etymological connect between the instrument's name and the phrase, "making a racket" for annoying noise?
None at all. The rackett was unknown in England and English-speaking countries.
@@mixedstaples8030 Dang. My hopes for fame and fortune in proposing this hypothesis are crushed.

Das good shit.
l Don't like the music but the intonation is quite good.
invest in a better mic or two to catch the full bassiness... please
I wish they would stop making such a racket.
