This is fabulous, I'm a massive DVD Show fan, so this, is a cool extra to see some of the gang on a different show, and it's so much fun, the woman on the other team who shouts is mad! I love the way Dick gets his loose limber rubber moves in and the nervous bow tie, so surreal. It's kind of like UK 80s Give Us a Clue with Lionel Blair and Una Stubbs only with puns and parodies. And they all look fabbo, nicely turned out and actually animated, unlike the majority of so called TV stars today. Thank you for posting this gem.
Pat Harrington, Jr. was the host, but didn't last long. He left at the end of 1962, and producer Mike Stokey (who had previously hosted the program when it was called "Pantomime Quiz") took over. "Stump The Stars" was cancelled by CBS at the end of the 1962/63 season, but I believe it was revived with new episodes for syndication in 1964. But the revival lasted only 26 weeks.
Yeah, that sucks. So getting the right answer at 119 seconds is only a 1 point difference from not getting it at all? No wonder this show didn't last, LOL. The time should've only been used to break ties if everyone solved the same amount of puzzles.
@@jedijones So how did they win? Cant be carried over points from the last game as Dick and co were new players. I am confused though loved your insight on that's why the game didn't last haha
It's interesting: people talk about how today's dresses are "barely there," and are tight--but Mary's dress isn't far from this (and this show took place half a century ago.)
OMG. No numerical address or zip code? And this was the 60's? That's like picking up a dial-less phone and asking Marge to get Andy Taylor on the phone. Why can't things be like they were? They claim progress is good. I beg to differ.
This was rigged. A single difficult word that has synonyms far more common than the target word TAKES A LOT OF TIME such as "blasted" and "momma." BOO to Stump the Stars!
Wonderful to see these great actors as their real selves. This was so fun!
Something I've never before seen and/or heard of. Loved seeing Pat Harrington, Sebastian Cabot, Beverly Garland & the others. Thanks!

Thank you for this fun memory.
This is like extreme charades. I kind of want to play. But only if the cast of the DVD show are there!
Devon Jones Ohhhhhhh meeeeeee tooooooooo!!!!! 💕💕💕LOVE the Dick Van Dyke Show cast!!!!!!!!💕💕💕💕
I want the Admiral super stereophonic hi-fidelity console!
+Charlotte Tan Is that the one with automatic four-speed record changer, four stereo speakers and Admiral's AM/FM radio with stereo multiplex?
and a blender!
And four separate record speeds: 78,45,33.3 and 16 rpm!
I'd would have rather had an New Vista RCA. They rattled walls.
It's 1962 ? I'd rather have the McIntosh MC275.
Nerve wracking!
What a wonderful woman Diana Dors was.
Maybe you know she is prominently on the cover of Sgt Pepper's lonely Hearts Club Band?

He sure did...86 years.
Final scores were DVD team 367 and other team 315
Mary Tyler Moore and Diana Dors were gorgeous women.
Diana Dors was married to Richard Dawson from 1959 - 1966.
I have to agree with the host that the slowness to get "poppa" was frustrating.
jedijones To get momma. Poppa came a lot faster.
Fantastic Dick ❤️
Now we know where the idea of Hollywood Game Night, came from, but minus the non-celebrity contestant that played with the celebrity teams.
thank you
using the dvd book title wasn't very fair. LOL
Pat Harrinton as MC.
Beverly Garland ... what A FINE LOOKING WOMAN...
Noooo!!! They should have lost points or seconds rather for getting stumped! Come on!

It's just a game. :) Don't take it more seriously than they did. :)

Extreme charades
Diana Dors is so classy

Marilyn Monroe's skirt was blowing up around this time too.
@gustavo c. Yes, there was a definite air of "we all know what's going on, but we're going to be dishonest about it" in 1960s fashion....
Diana Dors was married to Richard Dawson was they were younger.
They got stuck on blasted. It wasn't that hard. Mary is really cute.
You are wrong!
@altfactor Thanks for the info! (:
@fanofbewitched1 Haha yea
Wow, no penalty for not getting it at all in time? So, the Champion team had won before they even played the last round, that's disappointing.
@ledebin744 Lol, definitely!(:

LisaDawnn Sarah....not Marge... but yes.
Except for the progress in luggage. I carried an American Tourister all around Europe, and it was insanely heavy!
I have gotten mail with my name and the town and state on it; not sure when, but it was after 1976.... Very small post office....
Zip codes started in 1963.
The word blasted cost them the game.
This was in the day when gameshows rigged.

I hate charades. Too nerve wracking.
