I completely agree, he is misunderstood. The reason why I say this is because if you go back into his childhood years he was originally named Taka which means for some people say “want” but it also means to “throw away or waste something”. Taka was neglected and ignored by his father Ahadi while Ahadi was glorifying his older son Mufasa to be the next king. Uru (Mufasa and Scar’s mother) loved them both equally but still noticed that Ahadi was causing division between his two sons so Uru did everything she could to raise Taka the best way she can so he would have guidance. Mufasa and Taka were close brothers growing up together when they were little cubs and made friends with Sarabi and Sarafina. Mufasa and Taka both had a crush on Sarabi while Sarafina had a crush on Taka. As the two brothers gotten older in their teen years Ahadi chose Mufasa as the next king and from that day foward everything changed forever. Ahadi did give Taka a permanent scar as a punishment and after that Taka gave himself the name Scar to never forget the actions of his father. Mufasa and Taka both had feelings for Sarabi and she fell in love with Mufasa. Scar was severely devastated and rageful that Sarabi chose Mufasa over him. That’s when Mufasa and Taka became enemies until Taka eventually met Zira and allied himself with the hyenas

Kinda pushing the narrative of Scar being a victim of his circumstances. It still doesn’t make him a good guy even though you can understand his frustrations. I don’t really see the scar song in lion guard as reliable because Scar isn’t all that reliable. He just wanted power to rule everything and never cared about the circle of life like Mufasa. Trying to blame someone or something on how you turn out is inexcusable. Scar choose to be a selfish power hungry asshole who was jealous of his older brother and not getting the glory he wants. People nowadays think that villains are misunderstood broken heroes with tragic backgrounds and deep down, they’re selfless guys that did things for the greater good. And with room for redemption arcs.
