The best Omega ever! I love the new version of the bracelet

Yep. Agree 100%. I sold my 114060, 2531.80 bond smp, SMPc, BB58 blue, and many other affordables/micro brands. The Speedmaster (especially the 2022+) is 100% worth it and will not leave my collection. I don't know what it is, I think the combination of the history and iconic symbol, beautiful movement, and legibility and functionality is unmatched. It looks elegant, while still looking like a purpose built device. It's not pretentious on the front, yet looking at the back is the beautiful 3861 movement (and you can see with the sapphire caseback).

Tiny piece of feedback: Armstrong left his Speedmaster in the Lunar Lander module. Aldrin was wearing the first Speedmaster on the moon

The one watch collection for me would involve some dressier chrono with a multitude of straps and bracelets in order to make it sportier or dressier, my Breitling Datora or my Portugieser Hand-Wound Monopusher, watches that completely change personality depending on if there's leather or fabric around it.

It was omega, rolex, longines and Hamilton who responded to NASA's call for a space watch. Brietling never replied.

Buzz Aldrin was first to wear a Speedmaster on the Moon. Neil Armstrong’s Speedmaster was left on the lunar module as a backup to a broken timer.

  • @FabioPascuaThePilot
    @FabioPascuaThePilot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Sorry, but Neil never wore his watch on the surface of the Moon, it was Buzz. Neil’s Speedy was left inside LEM, next to a malfunction gauge (timer).

@minute 3:57: when Neil Armstrong made his one small step on the moon, he did NOT wear his Speedmaster watch.
As a Speedmaster expert you are, you should know that little detail :-) Only Buzz Aldrin wore his watch on his space suit. The clock of Neil Armstrong was somewhere back in the cockpit of the Eagle landing module. He left it there, as the clock in the Eagle module had a failure.
So the Speedmaster of Buzz Aldrin was the first one on the moon.
And the Speedmaster is not the only watch certified by NASA for manned space flights. On normal missions without having to wear a space suit, they are also allowed to wear the Speedmaster X-33 modell, or any private watch. Only for EVAs, the Speedmaster Professional is still today the only permitted watch by NASA standards.

For me, if I can only have one watch it would be my Submariner 124060. After l picked up my Sub from my AD in Oct 2021, it has become my go to watch.
Before that, l bought a Speedmaster 1863 which I loved for most things people love about this watch however, it was getting less wrist time so sold it on.

Congrats with your Speedy mate! First, to let u know that Neil Armstrong didn't wore this watch on the Moon, in fact it was Buzz Aldrin! Second, Alongside with Omega, Rolex and the Breitling, Bulova was the referance point of the space missions by NASA as well, which you didn't mention though! Third, if i could EVER have a chance to get a Rolex Sub by AD retail price, that would be my "ONE & ONLY" watch for sure. The quality of the case, timelessness of the design, refined looks and the feelings of comfort on the wrist are not comparible with any Omega including the Speedy.. I would even say, Rolex made a huge mistake by Sub's price strategy, as Submariner deserves at least double its retail price in real by its quality! Sub's built quality is par with any Patek or AP though! If Rolex could make alteration on the Sub's retail price by 25.000 USD, there wouldn't be this much hype and waiting lists around the world, and the watch could be positioned alongside with Patek and AP, or any other high horology brands in where it already deserves to be! So Submariner it is the watch for men to cater all our needs if we were able to find and buy one... Cheers

Great comment, the sub is truly a "Do it all" type of watch. Incredibly durable yet ultra luxurious at the same time. Im not sure my heart could take a jump in price like that but it would certainly thin the heard a bit.

Love the speedy like everyone else, but Omega’s turned it into somewhat of a gimmick with all the various editions and Snoopy etc. - make it smaller/thinner, keep it simple, keep production low but not artificially, improve quality / add a few more high end touches…I’d be a buyer, but until then, any steel Rolex will beat it for me

Well, that ''gimmicks'' sell for 3-4 times more than a retail price, so it can't be called a gimmick. It doesn't have to be smaller because it wears like a 40 mm watch (that 42 mm is only because of the crown guards), it has lug to lug only 47 mm and the bracelet on newest gen tapers from 20 mm to 15 mm. A perfect watch in every sense. You also have higher end version of Speedy, in gold, in platinum, with 321 caliber, etc.....QC in Omega is great, better than on JLC....so i really don't see a point in your post.

    • @tabortonholdingsinc.8963

@@adrianobanak2824 love the speedy, and omega - great watch, and a great brand, I didn’t mean to take anything away from it - I just feel they’re overthinking it - just my own opinion, I would make a single model of the speedy, maybe update the movement every 10-15 years or so, slight esthetic changes over time and maybe a few meaningful anniversary editions, but keep it simple and classy, no need to get too fancy…that’s what I meant by gimmicks
