I guess I have to put this here: I targeted boo with the overlord because I was swinging for lethal. If the opponent had removal, it is just better for them to remove the overlord before I attack, so I was playing under the assumption they had no removal in which case it was a very safe lethal to go for.
I just left a comment about that before I read this 😅 I think it's a decent play to just go for lethal, especially when they're so ahead on cards. However, Minsc fling has won so many games out of nowhere that my instinct told me to respect the offchance that they have something. Again: love your videos. You can do nothing wrong!

it's quite funny, of the people complain that I always draft the same deck, they also all claim it's a different deck that I always draft....

Hi Caleb I've been here for years now and I want to repeat that I love your content.
You speak your decision making and alternatives so that I can follow along while driving, painting, or working. You draft the way I draft. You're a high tide and mana tithe connoisseur.
Above all, sometimes you pivot 5 times and mess up 6 people's drafts. Then you say something like "we're getting cut on all my colors" when you're forcing half the draft to play a 4 color mess. And I mean that as a compliment. Your worst drafts are the most entertaining.
28:45 I think the safest play, that's still proactive, would have been to attack and shoot the Minsc, so they can't fling. Then you could still transform (and get got by the path) or if they block with Boo, take the trade and play Torsten (which could've gotten pathed if they really slow rolled it).

You should have shot minsc with the ability of the overlord. That way you would have been save from anything they could do and a trade with the overlord and the tokens would have been fine if you can land thorsten afterwards.
it doesn't make sense for them to have any interaction there, otherwise they should have just removed my overlord before combat. Going for lethal just makes sense
49:32 definitely possible to cast omnath here! 5 from sol ring, copperline,, mountain and charge counter, cast nissa, U from coalition relic, 4 from jetmir's garden + nissa
Not sure if you missed it, but sandstorm salvager only affects creature *tokens*. Not sure if that's as good in a deck not built for it. Although Forth Eorlingas does combo with it 🤔

In the match against the red opponent, you played witch enchanter and killed fomo. Maybe killing the Phoenix and exiling with kavu lets you win? Hindsight is perfect of course....
What I enjoy about watching your videos is how you envision all kinds of scenarios while drafting and somehow take a pile of cards that seem janky and ill fitting and make crazy busted plays happen.
31:12 i think your play is defendable (going for lethal isn't a bad idea) but i don't think it's a "mistake" from opp to not path pre combat; the transform is a on board trick,and like they showed,they could beat it,if i was them i would be a lot more scared about a potential gamewinning 7 drops (i don't think torstan would have worked)
also i think there was an argument to kill the PW instead of the rat
Agree completely, why oath pre combat if you can path the game winning thing hat requires huge mana investment. Especially if you have lethal in hand and it forces the mana investment
Transformed Oddity is also arguably an even bigger threat than Overlord anyway. Like Oddity is terrifying.
If you go back and look at the board state, he could’ve pathed boilerbilges pre combat and oddity has no good attack, with or without transform, pathing boilerbilges pre combat gives his planeswalker best chance to live
However, it could be argued that the opponent made the right play because he was too far behind to hope to win after Caleb casts 7 mana more of spells that turn, maybe he said “my best chance of winning is if Caleb puts 7 mana into oddity and i path it” so he took the risk, even though he would be super dead if he allows bilges to kill Minsc and then Caleb casts Torsten anyway

probably better, but I think going for lethal in that spot is pretty reasonable.
I think the path to exile turn on your 4/4 Haste… If opponent knows they have lethal if you go for the pump it seems totally reasonable to not path. Doesn’t seem that high level to me.
Once Upon a Time is buuuuuuuusted in half. I have it in literally every primarily green commander deck I have. Having it in your opening hand feels like cheating, and then casting it for 5 is FUNCTIONALLY just a better Impulse.
-I said "FUNCTIONALLY" better, so please don't comment saying, "Nuh uh! Impulse can get any card, not just creatures and lands!"

Yeah, this was a bad play imo. You should always kill the Minsc before the boo because, as Caleb mentioned, boo just keeps coming back. Plus Minsc is very scary just as a Planeswalker
I mean, op didn't have much mana and caleb still had the nissa and the land creature.
Minsc only had 2 loyalty.
Caleb could've easily killed Minsc with one of his creatures.
I'm pretty sure he made the correct play

I do think activating the oddity's ability was a misplay. With the board as it was it left you wide open, and if they had nothing you would still be in a strong position the following turn
Its interesting how all of the best cards are modern cards but all the good mana hasn't been reprinted in a standard legal set.

there was basically no reason for opp to let boilerbilges trigger, since oddity did not have a profitable attack without boilerbilges, the transform still just trades for the immortal hamster and gains them for 4 life, so opp could’ve had both misc and boo alive no matter what if they chose, makes no sense for ppl to say you punted by picking the wrong target for your trigger which was an unforeseen gift from opp
It could be argued that assuming your opponent will make the perfect play is not good risk management, opponent may pass priority without deciding the right play, because they reason they have instant speed removal to bail them out
instead you should just play to your safest outs, in this case killing minsc with your trigger and playing Torsten is very safe because even if you don’t have lethal that turn, that is a crushing advantage. Especially you could argue that opponent is likely to make this mistake bc it’s tempting to play to blowouts like pathing your transform, even if that play does not really maximize his value
I wouldn’t call it a punt more of a philosophical question.
