- So I made this video for fun to explain the different cool options you have with a 97-01 CRV RD1/2/3 this is an EX. A EX or SE model which will have most of these options some more others may not have all of the options but with these things so plentiful nowadays you can definitely search your local junkyards and probly find most of these things hopefully.

I've had my 01 crv for about a year now. I was recently told about the picnic table, but mine is missing. Decided to look into what other features it has and you have blown my mind. I had no idea I was driving around a whole tent 😂
My first car was one of these, ended up getting rid of it not too long after as my mother thought it was unsafe. Outta the house now and I'm back to looking for one! I wanna lift it and do a comprehensive VTEC build for it, a full B20 retrofit.
They have pretty good crash ratings. 👎 mother! I love my ‘99 5 speed. Glad I have the high compression engine with the power bump. Want to make a sleeper someday!
Love our CRVs, we've had 3 of these models! I so wish they didn't discontinue these models! The newer models are really just cars not SUVs.

In the back trunk barn door, the small compartment I believe held the jack down with the straps but the hunting knife will do lol.

Oh man thank GOD i found this video I just purchased a 1999 CR-V and it has the picnic table but I almost threw that door holder away something told me not is there for a reason but I did not know about the bed me and my wife are gonna love staying overnight at the beach now can’t wait thanks again
That's crazy I have a crv 99 and my dad had a 99 crv but I never knew the seats folded out into a bed thank you.

Took mine out camping this past summer. Loved it. I did have to drive up on some rocks and wood blocks to level out the bed seats.

I just snagged my 2001 for $500 bucks. Cooling fans weren’t working, but 2 censors, thermostat and radiator later, “steal”. Lol

Have 2 of them. 2000 red/2001 black One is a daily driver. Another in restore mode, pulling the engine to refurbish. Both have zero rust. Daily driver has 340,000 miles with original engine and transmission!

Just bought a 2000 CRV EX manual with AWD. Bone stock with only 93,000 miles for 2 grand. A few small dings and surface rust to take care of but I’m excited to take it out camping/hunting.
I have a missing cover for a 2006 Honda CRV. I don't know if the 2006 has the same thing, but if it does, it makes sense that the previous owner would take it.
a little late, but the clock can just be popped out. If your lucky all you have to do is re-solder a connection and its good to go.
Omg yes! Thank you for sharing this video! I’ve had my 2004 CR-V for about 5 give or take years. I never knew that the seats could go down for a bed. While packing for a camping trip I accidentally found the table, too bad there’s no secret chairs or anything else... I am a bit bummed that who ever had my car b4 me took out the under seat storage and put some rinky dinky amp instead. Thank you again for sharing..

My Honda Odyssey does the bed thing too, usually set up the passenger seat that way. Tilt the back seat up and keep legs extended out the whole trip.
These little suv are valued greatly in England Canada and Russia there worth more then here and there truly a gem

Omg lol we have the picnic table in our break room at work. I thought it was a custom made one out of a CRV or PILOT trunk, I knew they had table style trunk liners but never knew they actually had stands to be used as a picnic table

I just got a 2005 for 750gbp with full service history. Only problem it has is a worn drop link. £30 for set of 4 and can fit them yourself within an hour 😎
They are very underrated in the UK. People are maxed out on credit getting BMWs, audis and Mercedes.

CRV RD1 is the best bang for your buck. Honda best cheap reliable truck ever! Can't speak about the newer generations but RD1's is such a great little truck. I went thru 2 motor swaps already shell has 320k miles. Had my 2001 since new

It still bums me out that my 06 rear seats don't flatten out. They barely recline. But with some doing om sure I could still sleep in it with little issue.

As far as I know it's called a tailgate stopper but I'm not sure the exact name for it you can only find them used in a junkyard or if someone selling them as of right now that I know of.
I have a 99 CRV with almost 170,000 miles on it, and I never knew about the coin pouch below the window switches. Sadly, it’s the 4 speed slush box, not the manual.

Whaaaaat?? I hvae a 98 CRV and my parents got it in 99 or so, and I never knew the seats could lay down and fit together like that.
Do you have a "gold edition" though? I think not.
I painted the chrome coloured H logos on the front and back with transluscent gold paint and it now it's the "gold edition". I have the same vinyl seats but they were cracked so I covered them with lime green marine vinyl. I popped off the door panels and covered the little trim panels that house the door levers. That really makes it pop! I wish I could upload a photo.

Hell yeah! I heard that they did but I've never seen anybody post any pictures or show off the 2nd Gen. With it that makes me excited if they do because I'm gonna be picking one up probably next year.

I have a 2004 CRV EX and only the front seats lay flat. The rear seats recline but not very far

Just came across your videos, i love them bro. You should work for Honda. Quick question can you do the same thing with the bed on the second gen?
On our 2004 and 2006 models, the back seats don't have the ability to "lift up" higher when laid back. There is not a handle/lever on the sides of the back seat to raise the seat itself up those few inches. The seats lay back the same as in the video except that part. The seats do not lay quite as flat because of this, but still usable as a bed.

For us over here it's just the cruise control button to lock you in at a certain speed for use on like the highway/ Interstate not sure if it's called something different over there.

It's all over the place ban you could get good stuff off of eBay as long as you pay attention to what you're buying and the feedback rating there is a hrgengineering.com and tons of other places just have to search you'll come up with a lot

I don't know the actual official name for it everybody always called it like a door holder or door stopper that I've talked to maybe try giving Honda call and see if they can give you the official part number and what it's called

I have it disconnected at the moment of this video but easily have it mounted below the steering wheel column where you can barely see it but still use it fine.

They came when most of them stock or were an option to add from the factory so I have not been able to find a new one anywhere but you can definitely check the junk yards I found quite a few there.
does the 2000 crv lx come with the table and the cooler in the trunk?
I just bought one (2000) that does. I guess all gen 1’s had a table but the bed/flat rear seats was an extra add on feature. I made sure mine had it before I bought it.

Best place to look for them now is used in the junkyard or online they don't make any new that I know of.

They would not work/fit properly without some serious custom work .
@@crv_tom that's a shame. The gen 1 seats are way better. The gen 2 barely recline at all. I mean, you can make it work, but it's definitely not as good.

I tried to turn it into a bed and I can't get the headrest in the driver's seat to come off....it has no adjustment button. There's nothing between the headrest and the seat itself.
Maybe something wrong with your seat somebody may have damaged it at one point in time. 😦

But I did manage to turn the seat into a bed, it's just the space was so tight where the headrest button was, it was hard to get my fingers in there to feel the button. But I got it!

Both are great but if you can find a clean 1st Gen I would go with that.
I've had a 2005 for a year and a couple of months. I think that's the second generation? It's a great little car, and good in the snow, but I would stay away. The seats are horrible. Mine are leather, vinyl, whatever. They are hard as Hell, too sloped and too shallow. They stop about mid-thigh. I've tried expensive cushions and an upholstery shop. Nothing helps. I found an unlocked junker with cloth seats to sit in and those seats weren't much better. I recently met a woman who has had a 2006 since new. She said the same thing. Loves the car, except for the seats. They have season tickets to Gillette stadium and love the picnic table for tailgating, but use their other car for longer trips because of the seats.
P.S. The seats are different in the earlier ones. They have two dials on the side that let you adjust the tilt of the bottom cushion. You don't have that on the newer ones.
