If there was men vs women and they only gave penalties to the woman then that's sexist, but it is a woman vs woman, man vs man game so the two opponents get no bias. Also what does having a daughter got to do wiith anything? She even excused her behaviour by claiming postnatal depression, after a year of birth and when she always had these issues. Cim well the umpire was a tad too strict on her. On the men's side the umpires are more sympathetic to worse offences and that is what Serena was protesting.
schef61 look then that makes Nadal Federer Mcenroe and a whole lot other men who lose their tempers on Umpires wrong as well. It's not Serena's fault the crowd kept booing the umpire. U.S. Open crowd wanted a U.S. player to win. That's a big change from early in Sarena's career when at the U.S. Open the crowd would often cheer for Serena's opponents no matter which country they were from.
@@andysiviter1 What American Dream? Serena already had that for decades. Every media outlet here has done nothing but been disgusted by Serena's behavior. I'm a patriotic American and even I'm disgusted by her and think Osaka should cherish her win.

She's like Hitlery Clinton losing the election. Doesn't matter that Hitlery didn't bother campaigning in all the states she needed. It doesn't matter that Loretta Lynch was passing on to Bill Clinton-on the tarmac of airports, no less!!!-everything the FBI learned about Trump's strategies. It doesn't matter that Serena's own coach admitted that he was coaching her during the match. Hitlery and Serena were both just supposed to win and it's the judges' fault that they didn't win. It's not their fault. They're Leftist women. They're not supposed to be responsible. They're not supposed to have to follow the rules of fair play. They're Leftist women. #FukkinLeftistBICHIZ.
Well that penalty point hurt her al ot. It was very controversial too. They almost never give penalties like that. Compounded with a subpar performance, she lost it. I covered the match back when it aired. The vast majority of people thought it was a very bad call. And it did affect the game as Serena was making a comeback. I'm not excusing her behavior. It was bad. But certainly there's more context then that.
Serena's coach was sending signs, we don't know what they could mean and they should both know better. So her coach sent her signs, she pulled the Woman card and the mother card. I'm lost for words. Terrible sportsmanship.
The Japanese girl was leading and won the first set 6-2 BEFORE the drama and had all the momentum. That tells me everything I need to know. Williams WAS NOT going to win this match in any way.
Exactly. Serena was already losing it, getting her ass handed to her by a 20 year old girl before she acted like a crybaby, so she thought "cheating" would be a good excuse for losing the match.
@blanket53wc Whats racist about the truth. She behaved like a spoilt little girl, she always does. She stopped playing at Wimbledon doubles because she was losing...look at her record not colour.
But Osaka has a long long way to go to reach 23 grand slams, motherhood and 20 years in the game. So sad USA don't appreciate their own O of course she's Black.
I think we're all looking at it the wrong way. Instead of slamming the umpire for being unprecedentedly hard on Serena, maybe we should laud him for sticking to his convictions and, more importantly, playing by the rules, even when faced with the incessant threats of one of the most powerful players on the circuit. Ramos showed incredible strength of character in a situation where most umpires might have succumbed to the ruthless bullying of a star of that stature. He should be an example to all those umpires who let such violations slide just out of fear of causing a controversy. It's time umpires stood up to the players, both male and female, who think that they can misbehave on court with impunity. Let no McEnroes have the last word on court.
but players got away with worse with other umpires, not with Carlos. Carlos has always been consistently strict. If other umpires are overlooking acts and not applying the rules, i dont think that's carlos' fault.
Ramos has consistently penalized men for the same violations. The one thing that is different is that they accept it and move on and STOP, and don’t immediately claim they have been victimized.
@@vanessaruiz4705 I couldn't agree more. He's always been extremely strict on court and he shouldn't be persecuted for the laxity of other umpires. If any thing, the other umpires should follow his example and be stricter on court.
@@baronvonstanislaw9651 the way Serena behaved was absolutely appalling. It's one thing to lose one's temper but it's a whole other thing to bully a man who wouldn't submit to your unreasonable demands. She totally deserved that penalty.
Serena handled the loss fairly well at the award ceremony. However, by hiring her coach, she must accept the fact that his hand signals during the match (4:38) is consistent with cheating during a match. Also, this Mackenroe guy is ridiculous in how he is spending 5 minutes defending the art of cheating.
Alnoor Gilani: Serena's coach admitted it. he said, " I will not lie. I was coaching..." (see time index 4:35) Also, Serena lied to the Referee when she said, "He [her coach] was only giving her the thumbs up sign." Meaning she was looking at him when he was coaching as he admitted to reporters after the game. Plus there is video of him doing it.
Agree with most of what is said. I still don't like implying that coaching is cheating though. Granted I've never played sports on a professional level but coaching happens. In all the major sports coaches are calling out plays or giving signals from the sidelines. I don't see why tennis should be excluded from this. I guess under the current format it's technically 'cheating' but if something good can come from what happened in this U.S. Open women's final, I hope it's that maybe the WTA, and even the ATP, Tours re-examine this rule.
NYYanks: I hope the WTA or the ATP do not re-examine the no coaching rule, simply because Serena Williams does not want to follow it and got caught. All these years she said nothing about it, but only when caught and lost the US Open is it a problem. If some no-name player was caught and lost to Serena because of it, would anyone care about changing the rule or would people be calling that person "someone who needed to cheat to beat the great Serena Williams."
Well, I'm not saying they should change it simply for Serena Williams. I've not been a fan of the rule for a while. Like I said, in the major professional sports there's all sorts of coaching going on. I don't really see why there shouldn't be in tennis. If a coach picks up on something and can help his/her player during a match, that's not really a bad thing. And even if a coach gives a signal or whatever, the player still has to execute.
Lauren McMonigle serena is the greatest player of all times in women tennis..so no people won’t think of the young 20 year old Japan who played well...they will think of serena cause she is know all around the world

We should be more focused on praising Osaka’s achievements.
Why is this "shocking?" Serena Williams has been throwing tantrums, threatening, bullying, cheating and breaking rackets since day one! She has always displayed poor sportsmanship! Just sickening she couldn't tolerate defeat and let someone else win!
Tennis has its double standards:: 🕯️ Game penalty was completely unfair against Serena. Em no sis/bro. She has always been humble and gracious. How many times have you seen her lose it like that? Very very rarely. Hardly anyone she's worked with, played against etc have a bad word to say about her. How would you react if someone accused you as such? All react differently. Like you've never put a foot wrong but you're willing to judge this person entirely on an episode.
Lmao at Serena playing the sexist card. Sure there have been male tennis players that got away with a lot worse but with other umpires, not this one. The thing is that Carlos Ramos is one of the strictest umpires working right now. He plays by the rules. This dude slapped violations to Nadal's ass just because he took a bit too long between sets and Nadal got pissed and even criticized him after the game. This umpire doesn't discriminate. He always plays by the rules.

If there was men vs women and they only gave penalties to the woman then that's sexist, but it is a woman vs woman, man vs man game so the two opponents get no bias.

Naomi's half asian half black, like Obama is half white half black. If you call Obama black, then Naomi is black, period.
Serena, cheated, lied, abused, used her child to cover the cheating, was sexist, played the victim, was outplayed. Disgraceful all around.

Is she done flinging feces yet and back in her cage?
No one is talking about or denying Osaka’s hard work so shut up please
Ana Khay bitch read better ? I didn’t said anything about Osaka ? Wtf ? I was talking about serene deserve way more respect for what she have been done !!
bruh if the referee was sexist...wouldn't he be sexist equally towards both players???
what is she complaining about???
OxyElite She’s complaining because she got violated for things that male tennis players have been excused for repeatedly. She got violated for her use of language but male players have had much worse outbursts without consequences.
Marsi Norman That argument is subjective and only holds merit if the umpire, Carlos Ramos, has a bias against women. However, based on what I've read on his experience as an umpire, Ramos has a record of remaining fair and impartial when overseeing matches, regardless of sex.
profile pic checks out
The umpire Carlos Ramos is not even sexist at first place, like people has already said here that he is very fair. He has even called out male tennis players and that too players like Rafael Nadal and Novak DJokovic for committing errors.
Oligoden I wasn’t saying I agreed. I was just explaining Serena’s position on the matter.
she should have let naomi have her moment. what a shitty crowd. the crowd should have suck it up. naomi won. she is the best now.
Serena owes Osaka an apology and deserves to be suspended !
Absolutely, stole the spotlight from Osaka's dream night. Disgraceful behaviour from what is supposed to be a professional
BTW the sexism thing is such bullshit. The umpire has given code violations to Rafa before
@@nano11alexischile rafa, djokovic, Federer, the list goes on. Carlos Ramos is one of the best referees and has no afraid to enforce the rules

I hurt for this young girl. It was supposed to be the happiest day of her life!
Umpire did nothing wrong.
She's black and a woman aka she should be above the rules.

Go sit down somewhere
You can't even count the number of black women you personally know on one hand
+RhodainChristJesus Ah you people are always so good at making assumptions. Lovely people.
RhodainChristJesus EEEEEXXXXXXXXCCCCCUUUUUUSSSSSEEEEEE MEEEEEEEEE! "puts 24 rings down preparing for combat"
don give this idiot attention mark it is like you wrote it She's black and a woman and a mom aka she should be above the rules.
“When pride comes, then comes shame, but with the humble is wisdom.” the humble in spirit will retain honor. Congratulations, Naomi!
Wise words I love Serena she totally lost it.Salute Naomi .
"Because I'm a woman you taking a point from me?"
YOU ARE PLAYING WITH ANOTHER WOMAN
And you must be an idiot bc Osaka was never her problem
@@ComedyGlor yeah serena cheating was a problem
Congratulations to Noami Osaka, the Winner of the Match !! Well done. 👍👍👍
This is what happens when you raise a generation that always expects a trophy 🏆. combine it with black privilege and it's worse
Osaka🏆🎾 😘😍
American kids need more spanking, less garbage on TV.
@@stevemcqueen1614 whats black privilege
@@goosecouple Agreed but lefties don't want that.
I'm a woman and I have a daughter!!! Let me cheat.... I'm fighting for cheater's rights.....

Aha ha ha ha ha ... good one
Sexism?? Was her opponent not also a woman.
John Zaskoda She was claiming that the men in matches do worse things and don't get any warnings or penaltys
Then again... That has absolutely nothing to do with it 😅
Ha, yes. She claims she plays tennis for millions of dollars against other women, to fight for women's rights)) They get equal pay despite only playing 3 sets and with less viewers. Let's support women's rights to play 5 sets like the men)) But I still won't be watching)
She is showing that in her chosen sport that made her millions he slams sexism because it suits her as she is on the loss . lucky that Nayomi is half black othetwisevthe more she will make that as an issue again. I used to
be her fan but after what she showed in her play i despise and is embarrassed by her. kudos to Nayomi she did well!
serenas a man bro
She’s an amazing athlete and she’s very passionate like all great athletes stfu, stop trying to dramatize this and make her look bad
agreed
Lol wth. She made herself look bad. No one else made her look bad
It was her own doing. She just couldn't take the loss.
23 men vs. 9 women received penalties in the open. Not sexist at all. So disappointed in Serena.
Serena handled it with CLASS????...she made it all about her....unbelievable what she did to a young 20 year old that looked up to her.
TBone "Please no boo, I give you permission to cheer! Don't cry for me!! 😭😭😭😭"
Who cares about the 20yr old looking up to her - this is a competitive sport. That little millennial probably cusses like a little sailor when the cameras aren't rolling!!!!
@@kstarrify yet the much older woman threw a tantrum
kstarrify, it's obvious you don't have a clue about sportsmanship or any inkling of showing someone that is your senior some respect because they came before you. Osaka refrained and showed true sportsmanship Having said that, I could've been much harsher on Williams because she stole Osaka's moment. Let that seep in for a bit before you comment.
@@ZyroShadowPony
age is often a number and doesnt always yield what we expect in behavior..with your logic all older people should display social norms of maturity
Serena broke her expensive racket prolly blaming her losing streak on it,too.she got beaten by Naomi’s racket that costs 330USD ,available at sports goods stores, the type that high school and college girls in tennis clubs use and can afford.Miss Osaka is pure skill
You can get a tennis racket for $20.
Maybe you can, but I can't.
Go to Big 5.
To the people who booed Naomi: Pls dont be like Serena, u are better than that.
No they’re not better than that. Naomi was a fan of Serena. She managed to become a winning pro and actually beat Serena. Those booing fans managed to only do just that in tennis: boo a champion.

@@johhnycash9248 Osakas dad is Haitian and her mum Japanese. So she's as black as Obama 🤣. I'm surprised it didn't stop Williams. She used the sexist card when her opponent was another woman, so why not chuck in a bit of racism too. She's obviously just trying to cover her own deplorable behavior by chucking everyone under the bus. I won't be surprised when she uses the race card too.
+Adi Arif - In the 2018 US open 26 men received penalties for code violations...only 10 women received penalties for code violations. It is a matter of fact that men received more than twice as many penalties 'for doing the same thing'.
The Referee did it Right !
Serena: I need to talk to manager
