Better than Daniel Craig's Bond films.

I love how M asks him if he fancies a drink before his test!

Interesting to note this was broadcast, before production even started for The Spy Who Loved Me. OK that had an Esprit, but in very much the same livery as this Elite.

Thats just what I thought when I saw the video. Inspiration for the Bond production team? Sadly Peter Lamont who was behind its inclusion in the movie passed away recently beforee I could speak to him. He does have some interesting stories about it in his autobiography "The Man With the Golden Eye" which completely debunks the cock-and-bull story repeated ad-infinitum about Lotus being so canny they parked it outside the producers office. It was parked outside, but only because Peter Lamont put it there, Lotus were initially hesitant about whether it would cost them a car! It sounds like permission had to come from Chapman himself, a very astute man.

On the contrary these things wers struturally tough as old boots. They won a fledgling vehicle safety award, and you will never find one today with gelcoat stress cracks unless its had a nudge (compare that with a Scimitar). I had several and could not push them un-aided in my garage, by contrast my 1998 Esprit I could push myself fairly easily. Definitely not one of Colin Chapmans legendary "added lightness " cars, as they used the revolutionary VARI resin injection adn I think erred on the cautious side of thickness as still getting used to it..
