I knew once Michael (while still a member of Van Halen) started hanging around with dismissed Sammy it was going to lead to his dismissal from the group. Ed and Al did not like when you cross the battle lines.
One of the greatest rhythm and support elements in music, too bad the VH children cannot see past their collective ignorance to Michael’s unwavering contribution to the production of the VH experience. Truly a great soul and human. Thank you #8 for crushing a classic VH standard. PDE
They just crushed this! One of my absolute fave VH tunes. John 5...just masterful as always and Corey Taylor nails the vox. And always great to see Michael Anthony getting the respect he deserves...bass and vox \m/
@@mikes51501 I know. The guy can sing anything to the point he makes me really want to puke. You would never think it was him after seeing he was in Slipknot, with all the screaming. But this VH song is my favorite of all of their songs and they are all playing way better than the original, even. John 5 is a bad mo fo in his own right. Oland of course, Michael Nthony holds down the bottom end like its nobody's business. Rock on.
Not stirring the pot - VH being one of my all time Favs - Corey sounded like DLR’s vocals when Dave had studio help . I saw VH in 1978 and again around 1980 then again in the mid 80s. IMO -. IMO - DAVE never sounded that good live -anywhere- other than maybe some laid back acoustic stuff where he didn’t have to belt it out. !! But I get what you are saying. I wish I had been there too. That was pretty darned killer !! Peace - Be Blessed !!
He sounds better than Roth ever did. Corey's a great musician, and his music has definitely had an impact on me. However, I doubt he'd be cool to meet.
Now that ladies and gentlemen is how you break down a Van Halen tune..John V Corey Taylor and Michael Anthony absolutely pay homage to the original... People talk trash about David Lee Roth but he's hard to imitate and Corey nailed those vocals..
Nice !!! But nobody can top the master EVH!!! If it wasn't for ED .... I don't know where guitar would be today.... maybe it would just be stuck in the blue's? 🤔🤔🤔
Damn that lead vocal sounds great! This is one of VH's greatest tunes...pure power blues magic...MA is THE MAN...dude has more success than 90% of people walking the planet yet is the most humble and sweet...how does that happen? Love that guy!!!
What is even crazier...I recently watched a video of Corey singing Love Gun at Dimebash and he sounded just like Paul Stanley. Now he does DLR to a T. And John 5 can play anything.
I agree with you 100%, Matt. I’ve seen them (several times) with the original lineup, the Hagar lineup, and finally, the Wolfgang lineup. The worst show (by far) was the Wolfgang show.
Howie S might be just as well , I always catch him in San Diego and can get to front of stage no problem , this time I got to Hollywood at 1 for 7 pm doors , already was like 10 people waiting in line , and assholes kept letting people cut in line , got in fight with fat lady before the show , so yeah sometimes those shows with no special guests are just as good , I got to stage , but way off on the side , usually I’m closer to stage
I love seeing this so much for Michael Anthony. Corey is some screams an squeals that DLR hasn’t hit since 1985… and they played some tunes that havent been heard live since who knows when. of course John 5 is killing it. Damn good….I absolutely would pay to see this.
God Im in tears!!!! AMAZING!!!! John 5 giving the perfect tribute to our greatest innovator Eddie Van Halen.. Its glorius to see him next to the greatest Michael Anthony the SOUL of Van Halen... I adore it!!!
Man - This smoked! Killer tune, and well-done by this Crew. Corey sang it the way it should be sung, and John 5 had some killer tone on this. But holy Cow.... was Michael Anthony smokin' it out on the Bass, or what? He sounded awesome on this. I'd love to hear some more....
Speechless! And sad...yeah that's it, speechless & sad because I wasn't there for this night at The Whiskey to see and hear some old friends KILLIN' IT!!!
This is an excellent cover of Diamond Dave era VH. EVH, if you're listening, give Corey Taylor a call. DLR can still dance around the stage and twirl his mic stand, but have Corey do the singing.
Since VH wont do a tour with both DLR or Sammy how about they go out with both Sammy and Corey instead. Sam does the Van Hagar stuff and Corey does the DLR years. Now that is something I would go see.
I was thinking the same thing. Would love to see VH tour again but Dave's voice is completely gone so they can't do it with him. But I want to hear the Roth tunes! Taylor does a great job covering Roth and sounds great!
Bill Hardman Come on there is only one Dave. David Lee Roth is the greatest frontman, showman and entertainer in Rock 'N Roll history. Nobody can touch him!!! Nobody!!! Did I say nobody 😂 😂 Van Halen is Dave,Ed,Mike and Alex period. End of story. Would Led Zeppelin be the same band if the singer from Air Supply replaced Robert Plant? FUCK NO!!!!

when Nikki Sixx did some of these shows he went on and on about "the Whisky is my home! it's where my band got it's start! Motley Crue were blah blah blah...! " -- Michael Anthony; 'hold my beer'
Man, VH needs to hire Corey for the singing and just let Dave dance and jump around. This was excellent. My favorite VH song.
Crazy
No Replacing Diamond Dave !!
@@operationtruth288 Dave's voice sucks now. He's my favorite front-man of all time, but his singing days are over. He is terrible live.
@@operationtruth288 C'mon man, Dave is replaceable and this video proves it! Dave cannot sing like this anymore. He's done!!!
Deep cut
Ha, I didn't see your comment and had the same thought. VH needs this guy for sure.
I'd pay to see a whole show of this if they went on tour!
So happy to promote this. I blessed by the music God's today. Kissing the boots of the person who posted this...kiss kiss. 10/10
Hell yeah!
They should really do something together.
Me too.
Right on, Bring these guys as a Van Halen cover band and I'd be there forsure
Class....Michael Anthony, nothing but class n HE IS THE SECRET WEAPON!!!
I knew once Michael (while still a member of Van Halen) started hanging around with dismissed Sammy it was going to lead to his dismissal from the group. Ed and Al did not like when you cross the battle lines.
Totally...sad,petty,bitch ass behavior on the Van Halen's but hey that's how it do..
💯
He’s the special sauce😉
VH was never the same without Michael Anthony. Love this version !! They killed it !
Michael Anthony with those killer background vocals. MAN! Frickin'perfect!
Agreed! Was hoping to hear him hit it harder on the take your whiskey home part tho!
His face should be on Mt Rushmore of Rock

Eddie Van Halen says Michael Anthony can't sing, though. or play bass.
@@ocho611 LMAO, that's why Sammy has hung on to him, and won't reunite with the dumb ass VH bros without him...
Came for the John 5 and Michael Anthony, stayed for the Corey Taylor.
Exactly, well put.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
For sure! I didn’t even know who he was until til seeing this. Fantastic!
Best that tune has sounded in years!
For sure
Damn! You ain’t bullshitting! This ROCKED!
Maybe ever.
Man it’s good to hear that.
That was rad. Corey killed it. Awesome to hear Michael Anthony
Michael Anthony is THE MAN!
Dam Mike millions of people miss you. Please make something happen with ed. I he is easy to work with please Mike.
Michael Anthony never gets enough credit. I nominate Corey for the next VH singer. John5 awesome as always.

Major thumbs up 👍 👌
Corey Taylor can sing anything he's like one of the best singers ever to exist
Man he did all the little things that DLR did on that song as well. Super impressed. All the little nuances of the vocal. So freaking cool.

Blew me away how much he sounded like Dave. Awesome
His voice is right for it. Bring him in, and Michael Anthony back.
I’ll take this over the last Van Halen show I saw...
Matt Prandini No Mike Anthony = Van Halen for me.
I wouldn't because the last time I saw VH was in 1980, Women and Children First tour.

This is epic. Corey should get his third gig in Van Halen. He nailed it. Sadly DLR cant sing anymore
Gary Cherone was 3rd guy in VH so Corey would be 4th Singer as long as You don't count Guy that was with VH for 1 Week before DLR rejoined Band .
