Hey y'all one more video is here *POOF*! Hope you are enjoying it! Disclaimer? 1. it's not your hardware glitching, its the new transition i found, cool isn't it? 2. The guy has an enourmous career so it's impossible to cover all of his films in a 20 minute video, duh. We had to cut out 3-4 minutes of material to make it watchable, maybe one day, when we make a proper membership we would upload a full verison there. We got some material piled up already. 3. Elon is not the guy. Nobody is the guy except for the guy. 3. Cusack, Cusack, Cusack... at some point feels too repetative, sorry, we're still learning. I am currently considering buying a 200 bucks scriptwriting course but don't have enough time yet, maybe you could recommend something, idk people on the internet always know better 4. If you read that far into this long and boring comment of mine, i guess it means you really care about the channel and like the content. Gotcha, leave a like. Or not Regarding the requests: we are collecting them but mostlty you are come up with epic dudes who require too much work: 30+ minute video etc, we will do all of them but not now. At the moment there is another 20 min video in development and hopefully we'll release it next Sunday. Then we will start writing a script about someone epic and it will take at least 2 weeks because each video and script is handcrafted by team of three people and blabla plus i need to work my 9-5 with extra. Or i'll just release a 20 minute video about a guy noone is interested in anymore lol. My main goal for this year is to become somewhat consistent and ...not die from a burnout or get fired so pls understand. Hope you will enjoy the rest of video. PS lifehack for the most dedicated - boop the bell button, then you'll get notified when i release new videos. My posting schedule is pure chaose, so this is the only way not to lose each other in this boiling ocean of internet Take care!
You should watch high fidelity. It's very John-Cusack-esque. And he gets to wax philosophically like he does in Gross Point Blank with a touch of existentialism as only Cusack can. I think I love Cusack and especially his bro-mance with Jeremy Piven and adult supervision of Joan Cusack in Gross-Point and other movies because he was the actor that best captured my own teen angst of the late 90s, being an outsider. I feel those who dont care for him expect a character actor or method actor, and those of us who love him expect a character that we can identify with. By definition, that character is an outsider, a rogue, a quiet disappointed romantic. There was never going to be a big pool for that. Sort of a modern Humphrey Bogart. And that luck doesnt always pan out, or it does, for about a decade. As it did for both Bogey and Cusack.
I don't consider John Cusack a mid tier actor and his mainstream for the paycheck movies were elevated by him being in them. And even his flops were typically really good or at least he was good in them. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I think he's one of the better actors of the last 40 years.
No. You are not. I completely agree. I go on and further strengthen your point by the fact that he is synonymous with Rom Coms holding a jukebox, but Better off Dead, Grosse Pointe Blank, Serendipity and a few others are undeniable and completely different and that's what makes someone truly grest like he is. I appreciate your comment as a huge fan of his thank you.
I totally agree - i always watched out for him in films and was usually happy as a result. How he's being accused of sinking Bullets Over Broadway, i'm not sure?? He went for projects he liked and frankly so did i, so no complaints. He clearly never wanted to be a 'film star', would probably rather have character roles and doesn't love big 'tentpole' movies but just had too much natural charisma to get away with not doing them or being the lead.Yes, he could probably have been a much bigger star if he'd gone for more obvious stuff but then so could Ethen Hawke. You can always spot the films he's not that proud of and just did for a paycheck (usually within the last 10-15 years), it's not rocket science. When he has the chance, he's got good taste and elevates the stuff he's in. Just because a film 'flops' doesn't mean it's not great and well worth doing if you have the ability to do so. I'll continue to watch out for him but it doesn't look like the kinds of films he enjoys and excells at, are really out there anymore. I hope he's funding projects he enjoys and having fun on the stage somewhere.
I can’t believe you would talk about John Cusack’s career and leave out The Grifters??? It’s one of the most significant movies in Cusack’s entire filmography! It got a slew of award nominations, winning tons of them, except at the Oscars, despite getting four nominations, and it was a box office smash. More importantly, it’s one of Cusack’s finest films (certainly one of his best performances) and is well thought of to this day. Angelica Huston was nominated for best actress and Annette Benning for best supporting actress. Stephen Frears was nominated for best director and the magnificent screenplay was also up for an Oscar.
Exactly what I was going to say. I enjoyed this video--lots of films I didn't know about. But boy was skipping The Grifters and ENORMOUS hole in the story. One of Cusack's finest, right up there with Malkovich.
Cusack made high fidelity and had a lot to do with the making of the movie so that makes him Great because high fidelity is One of the best movies ever made.
Grosse Point Blank, Hot Tub Time Machine, and the Kaufman films, High Fidelity, all great movies. Even the ones he hated. Cusack just needs to take himself less serious
That movie was early proof, that Minnie Driver was great playing the girlfriend. Focusing on leads after the success of "Goodwill Hunting" via her & her sister's production company, though understandable that she would want to give that a go, doomed her movie career at it's peak, neither she nor her sister had good instincts for picking the right material for her.
Gross point blank is one of my favorite movies of all time, just like quentin's movies it introduced me to some great music and i think the blend of dark comedy was perfect
Unfortunately, most beloved actors of the past went out similarly. We only see them in glimpses from their height, but many actors across time had a decade run and when you look for projects they worked on after that decade, it's either a sad attempt to re-capture their earlier glory, or a completely different genre in which their role could be filled by any old person; literally. The Brad Pitts, Leonardo DiCaprios and Samuel L Jacksons aren't every actor's story. Cusack having a solid run from the mid 1980s through to the mid 2000s is a decade longer than MOST actors even dream of. You'd notice that besides Brad Pitt who always has something interesting to say in most characters, the truth is both Leo and Samuel L Jackson often play the same person; just in a different scenario. And this will become even more obvious as time moves and their star becomes more reflective than current. In the end, John Cusack left his imprint on Hollywood with movies that will probably age like fine wine such as High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank; which truly showed Cusack in his element.
Cusack expected & much preferred that his buddy Jeremy Piven remain in sidekick mode, so he simply couldn't show equal support based on Piven's late breakout success with "Entourage", which resulted in ruining their lifelong friendship, a shame how ego can get in one's own way.
I was friends with a guy who's wife was Robert Hansen's niece. When The Frozen Ground came out she refused to see it but remarked to me Cusack's picture for the movie literally freaked her out.
Ive recently found this channel, and after seeing almost half of the vids you’ve posted, keep it up. This has quickly become one of my favorite channels to watch
Mr. Cusack hasn't been part of a single watchable, let alone noteworthy film since 2014's Maps to the Stars. No one except him is should be blamed for the demise of his stardom; poor choice of films, action roles that don't do justice to his acting capabilities, & on top of that his political views moved so far left that they looped around to the far right. Hope he gets sober & gets a grip on reality, I truly believe he could have been as big as Tom Cruise today.
Oh, Con Air is bad. But it's the epitome of 90s action schlock. Easy to criticize, even easier to love. I adore Grosse Point Blank and High Fidelity. I think John Cusack plays flawed ego driven protagonists very well. It even works in something as dopey as Hot Tub Time Machine. But I have not watched much of his straight to Redbox era.
Crazy he feels this, considering from 1988 to 2003 he had a ridiculous run of movies with some incrediable directors, varying from classics to hidden gem, with only a rare average movie now and then. Grosse Point Blank and High Fidelity sit at the top for me.
I like ID. How did he like it. The Piano is excellent and he played an assasin again. Gross Point Blank was outsianding. I had no idea it wasn't a hit.
Some of JC's many flubs: He did several films in a row with ugly foreign chicks as his "love" interest. He performed perfectly in Hot Tubs 1, but blew it by only being in Hot Tubs 2 for like... 2 minutes. He didn't sound or look anything even remotely like Brian Wilson in Smile. He refused to wear Poe's classic mustache-only look when he played in an actual Poe bio.
Better off Dead and Con Air are classics! Dude should appreciate that movie fans are still enjoying them to this day. Instead he's salty and relegated to DTV rubbish.
Can we except a video on will Smith career considering how many big hit projects he's associated with from his unreal consistency as a box office draw alongside some critically acclaimed films with some of his memorable performances to how his career shape up after the Oscar controversy it would be interesting to see from your side. Also you have promise me about tom hanks video please make that also ASAP
I guess Love and Mercy doesn't get a mention because it doesn't fit the 'thesis' here??? Whatever. And btw he's 58 at the moment not 56. Great research - well done.
Hey y'all

being john malcovich and grosse point blank are both fucking classics

He definitely is an actor from the last 40 years that's for sure.
I totally agree - i always watched out for him in films and was usually happy as a result. How he's being accused of sinking Bullets Over Broadway, i'm not sure?? @sorscha1308 yessss. I absolutely love how you think. Agree with this entire comment. Well, put my friend.
Grosse Point Blank and High Fidelity two of his best.
And Hamburgers dancing to Van Halen... also great.
Empire magazine put John Cusack on their cover once. It was their lowest selling issue ever at that time and they never experimented like that again.
I can’t believe you would talk about John Cusack’s career and leave out The Grifters???

No spoilers but his 'last' scene in that movie - ooof - that was so visceral, so real. Still haunts me. 'Mid-tier' my aunt sally.
Exactly what I was going to say. I enjoyed this video--lots of films I didn't know about. But boy was skipping The Grifters and ENORMOUS hole in the story. One of Cusack's finest, right up there with Malkovich.
Gross Pointe Blank. Loved it..
1408 one of my all time favorites, i don’t believe anyone could’ve given a better performance. Awesome movie and great actor.
The daughter scene...
Cusack made high fidelity and had a lot to do with the making of the movie so that makes him Great because high fidelity is One of the best movies ever made.

The scene in Hi Fidelity when he hits him with the telephone, was one of the most incredible scenes ever put to film. I will fight you.
Unfortunately, most beloved actors of the past went out similarly. Pushing Tin is a neglected film. Clearly.
just Being John Malkovich, High Fidelity and one of my personal all time favourites, Grosse Point Blank and 1408 are just perfect films.
Cusack expected & much preferred that his buddy Jeremy Piven remain in sidekick mode, so he simply couldn't show equal support based on Piven's late breakout success with "Entourage", which resulted in ruining their lifelong friendship, a shame how ego can get in one's own way.
James L Brooks was only the executive producer of SAY ANYTHING- it was written and directed by Cameron Crowe.
John was and is one of my favorite actors. The movies he makes are entertaining and those the whole reason I watch.😊
In the mid2000s i stumbled upon Better Off Dead and fell in love. The humor was way ahead of its time
I was friends with a guy who's wife was Robert Hansen's niece. When The Frozen Ground came out she refused to see it but remarked to me Cusack's picture for the movie literally freaked her out.
Ive recently found this channel, and after seeing almost half of the vids you’ve posted, keep it up. This has quickly become one of my favorite channels to watch
thanks for taking time to write it man, it means a lot to me ❤
Talking shit on a Cronenberg movie is definitely a choice.
Hot tub time machine, Identity, 1408 and of course Ice harvest are all cool.
Mr. Cusack hasn't been part of a single watchable, let alone noteworthy film since 2014's Maps to the Stars. Cusack was excellent in Frozen Ground. A very good movie. Cage was great as well
No mention of Love and Mercy ? Cusack playing Brian Wilson some of his deepest work and I think it did make some money
You missed One Crazy Summer, my favorite Cusack movie
You grew up with HBO didn't you?
@@bernierhoades4771 wtf are you talking about…
10:30 thinking this was supposed to be lighthearted 😆
I love his romcoms .
I didn't know him until i watched Con Air.
Gross point blank is great, it's like a sequel to one of his 80s films.
that's right! Cusack cinematic universe haha
Auto generated closed captions writes "Cusack" as "qack" and "q zack" 😂
Oh, Con Air is bad. But it's the epitome of 90s action schlock. Easy to criticize, even easier to love. I adore Grosse Point Blank and High Fidelity. None of these movies this guy claims were flops were flops. High Fidelity Grosse Point & B over B were hits
Yes, those 2 niche films were never meant for huge box office that became niche successes, as was expected.
@dk60ish three films. And one was turned into a Broadway show
Cusack is a hipster dip.
High fidelity is one of the greatest movies of all time.

Weird that he hated Better Off Dead, but then did One Crazy Summer one year later with the same director???
right, thats exactly what's happened and it was awkward
Some of JC's many flubs: He did several films in a row with ugly foreign chicks as his "love" interest.
He performed perfectly in Hot Tubs 1, but blew it by only being in Hot Tubs 2 for like... 2 minutes.
He didn't sound or look anything even remotely like Brian Wilson in Smile.
He refused to wear Poe's classic mustache-only look when he played in an actual Poe bio.
Con air was great!
So when he's saying all those bad things about Hollywood, I guess you could say that he was right on the money.
Corrupt as hell
Please do video about Sean Young next.
im finishing a script about a movie she stars in, so maybe you have a telepathic superpower)
@Hollywood_Lore You read my mind bro 👍🤲
Dude, got too many classic movies in his filmography.
N.B- Better off dead and, The sure thing is one of my fav.
Better off Dead and Con Air are classics! Dude should appreciate that movie fans are still enjoying them to this day. Instead he's salty and relegated to DTV rubbish.

Whatever. And btw he's 58 at the moment not 56. Great research - well done.
So you just yada, yada, yada over THE GRIFTERS?
Better Off Dead is an awful movie. I agree with John.
why you didnt mention the beach boys movie he did it wasnt all flops in that time
love & mercy
Can’t believe I watched this mess.
Believe it.
But he is 58!
Watch the grift.
er...Grifters? wtf
Con Air was fun bullshit
Не очень понимаю, почему видео на умирающем языке. Можно на нашем? Ничего же не понятно
Terrible actor. He makes every movie he's in boring.
