A friend of mine purchased a Mazda 2 a few months ago. With such a low HP rating, you would think that the car would be pretty slow and lethargic however the Mazda 2 didn't get the memo. Even with the 4-speed auto, the car is a blast to drive and loves to be tossed around in the corners. It feels plenty quick because the car is so light weight that it does not need a lot of power to get it moving. I'd love to drive one with a manual or, even better, that B-Spec racer.
I have a 2012 Mazda 2 i got blessed for it to be a 5 speed manual car cause its way more fun than auto and moves faster in my opinion I really wanna throw a turbo on it and just by doing that you can get about 300hp out of it and with such a light weight you can prolly beat most sports cars out there
Was hoping to find a recent comment, I’ve got a 5spd too, I’m really impressed at how well it holds revs in both the low and high range. Makes it feel super responsive and fast.
@@theterminator8405 unfortunately your not hitting anywhere close to 300 on a stock bottom end. The rods are just too thin on these Z series motors. 150 HP at the wheels is about the max it'll take safely before your rods give out. Anyone who's tried pushing more than 180whp has blown their motors :(
My gf bought one the other day and I just love driving it around , most fun I have ever had in a car tbh . Her ones the 2007 with tints , so not to shabby at all . My friend jumped in and was like this car is flash lol
Good question. That's one of Dave Pratte's racing suits. He used to race a Honda. He has another one with Scion badging from when he did some racing in a tC.
I've just brought one of these a 08 sport 5 speed in that bright green colour and going to film a few tests (0 to 62 , 0 to 100km and I will do a quarter mile and record it's its best times\speeds THEN I have a few parts to bolt on which I'm pretty excited about. 1st is Corksport short ram intake 2nd Is a set of Corksport lowering springs 3rd is the HKS catback exhaust system and finally a CorkSport Mazda 2 Torsion Bar. So they way I see it.. More air so more petrol so the faster we go and we have the supporting parts like lowered springs to help lower the cars centre of gravity and also some thicker torsion bars to help with counter staring. Its so great that a little Nana car in the majority of the world's eyes has such a cool little niche market for upgrades I love it
How'd your tests go and are you happy with the mods you chucked on? I know from personal experiance these struggle to hit 100 in less that 10 secs stock form, but im curious if you made any time.
I am from Melbourne Australia. I own a 2010 MAZDA 2 NEO. I have to say this is one really cool car to drive on the streets. It has power. My MAZDASPEED decal on the windshield causes everyone to look. The only other modifications I can do is add the stock K&N filter for extra horsepower gain, better breaks exhaust tip and lower springs. My tyres are still good. Where can I get a good deal for lowered springs and breaking ? MAZDASPEED ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM.
I got a manual 2012 2. Very fun to drive. Too bad it didn't make 120 hp. Other than that it loves corners and in general is super cheap to own and well built. Mine was built in Japan.
armandocarguy I've been told that it is illegal to drive a car if it has a roll cage in it, and the race tires are not street legal. However it is legal to drive with the other suspension and Brake modifications that this car has.
I wanna transform my current 2012 Mazad2 sport into a Bspec, just like the one in the video. Mazda2's are underrated.....now badged as Yaris Hatchback with Toyata....mmm, mmm, mmm😒
DurrtySteve well - We Do pronounce Metal and Pedals - so why not Decals - I’m half kidding. I also say Peh Kahn Pie and not PEE Can Pie (the nut). Haha
Our managing editor owned one for a few years. With the 5-speed manual he managed decent fuel consumption, but not as good as such a small car with only 100 hp should achieve.

Driving a slow car Fast is always more fun
But if you drive it Fast... it cant be Slow.....
When is it not though😂
Woah, Dave before Speed Academy!
They do. Dave mentions it as an A/C delete kit. They take out the compressor and just use different belts.
Do you know what side belt?

"deckalls"
That that the Canadian way of saying "dee-cals" aka decals?

You make a good point. It didn't come across as clearly as we intended. The race car was 5 seconds faster, hence the "notch or 5".
2:18 Dat Lift tho
got this car all pimped up and its amazingly quick and fast got a 3 door sport with 18 inch rims and 100% tints it looks amazing turns heads
Hassan Seedat 18 inches wheels is crazy big for a small engine. You'd be way quicker with some lightweight 15s
We wish! That would certainly be an amazingly fun package.
Could you please let me know where you got the graphics for the car? I would like to replicate them on my street (DD) black Mazda2. Thank you much...
So getting one of these, as well as a suspension kit to go along with it! 😂

What king suspension, struts and springs did u add to the race car Mazda 2 hatchback

@William Perri Very firm and handles like a B racer. If u drive it like you stole it it feels fast. In a straight line its slow though.
i have a 1.3 ,85 hp......feeels fast af!!! It cuts in and out of traffic so easily.
@@bobwreck3775 very true
@@bobwreck3775 someone built a 300hp turbo version, I'm interested in doing the same.....
so it becomes as fast as it looks
what size of the tyre
What catback is on this 2 and where can I purchase it?
Hi, I know this is a yr old video but are there any links to the BSpec build specs and requirements? We are building a similar car for a UK series/
Had you any luck finding any Information about that?
This car looks like a of fun. Does it come from Mazda with some kind of powertain warranty concidering they know what type of abuse it will be seeing?
I own a Mazda Miata First gen, and they are awesome cornering, I did mention that before i had a acura boring car.
What cat-back exhaust is on it?
How did you blow that last line it obviously should have been "notch or 2."
finally Mr wood is back
is the mazda 2 bspec street legal?

@sebastian Sm it makes it safer if you also have a harness and helmet. otherwise you'll die
hey how do you guys get smooth pans like that?
Engine 1nzfe?? Toyota yaris?
I'd love to race a bunch of these with friends for bragging rights.

Of course they do. When have you ever seen a race car with AC
Upgraded ‘deckels’ 😂 WTF
The fuel consumption on these Mazda 2 models is exceptionally poor
Our managing editor owned one for a few years. With the 5-speed manual he managed decent fuel consumption, but not as good as such a small car with only 100 hp should achieve.
Hahaha!! The end of this video is the best lol. Feel the power woo! I definitely agree, drive a slow car fast is fun.
Take off eh?
