How about using that 'three strikes you're out' system where if they are convicted of three different violent crimes (including drug dealing), then they get one month to get their affairs in order and then they get executed! Crimes rates would go down at terminal speed! (Pun intended)
I'm a fan of the Trebuchet a type of catapult that uses a long arm to throw a projectile. It was a common powerful siege engine during medieval times. After the accused have been found guilty in a court of law they're brought to the "place of release." A few Trebuchets are placed at the ocean's edge and when the time comes sink or swim they're in God's hands. If by dumb luck any manage to swim back well... see my previous sentence.@@MarilynStangl
